  • How do I prevent my ear lopes from stretching?

I bought this pair of earrings that I really like, but they are heavy. I'm really paranoid about my ear lopes stretching, thus I don't wear these earrings often. I really like them, though, so I'm wondering if there is anyway to prevent my ear lopes from stretching while wearing them. Thanks!

  • What does it mean to "sit" on high notes?

The other day, I sang at an audition and didn't make the cut. I was told that I "sat" on my high notes. I'm not sure what this means, but I would like to improve my voice, so can someone explain it to me? Also, my mom told me I sang with a mixed voice. I'm not sure what that means either. Please explain that as well. Thank you!

  • Which blanket should I get?

I need to get a blanket for my horse. She is very fuzzy but I've been working her later at night to the point of sweating. Obviously, putting a wet horse out in cold weather is bad for her. A rider at my barn has been letting me borrow her blanket, but I need one of my own. I need a blanket that I can keep on my horse during the day, however, because I can't take it off everyday and put it on at night. During the day, the weather is in the low 50s and mid 40s. At night, it is in the 20s. Should I get a mid or light blanket? Here are the ones I'm looking at:

  • Can I use normal shampoo on a cheap halloween wig?

I have a cheap, blonde Halloween wig (from Wal-Mart) which is so tangled that I really can't wear it. I know soaking it in hot water will help detangle it, so I'm doing that now. It is still pretty tangled though, from what I can see. I, unfortunately, don't have a comb, only a brush which is bad, I know. Any alternatives.

Now, to the real question. Can I use normal shampoo on my wig? And conditioner? It would be Pantene if that makes any difference. I know there is such a thing as wig shampoo but 1. I don't love this wig THAT much and 2. If I could find it, there is no way my mom or I would spend money on something I would use once.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Do I need a dressage pad?

I'm starting up dressage and I'm currently buying the supplies I need. The Dover Saddlery is having a great sale and I'm currently looking at saddlepads. All the dressage pads are 19.90, which is a great price, but I found an all-purpose saddlepad for 9.99. I think I need to get the dressage pad but can I get an all-purpose saddlepad? Since I'm buying all the supplies myself, I would greatly enjoy saving some money. Plus, I can use the all purpose pad for hunter jumping when I start up. I will be using the pad in a show if that makes any difference.

Oh, and I know you need a white saddlepad for dressage shows and hunter shows but the catalog also offers a white saddlepad with a black outline. I think it looks better but can I still have it in a show?

Finally, if I do need to get a dressage pad, which one would be the best? They are all the same price but I don't know which is better:

    Pad #1:http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-191...

    Pad #2:http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-194...

    Pad #3:http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-194...

    Pad #4:http://www.doversaddlery.com/product.asp?pn=X1-191...

    Thanks!

  • Why can't we let it be?

Today is my first day looking at the religion and spirituality section and I'm horrified! I came here for some answers about my own religion but now I am afraid to ask. People here are so vicious. The Christians are slamming the Atheists and the Atheists are slamming the Christians. There is no respect!

Ask yourself this: Would your god want you to treat each other with such disrespect? If you are godless, think. You don't like the religious people slamming your beliefs so why do you slam theirs? If we would all just except each others beliefs, I have a feeling we can reach the impossible goal of world peace just that much faster.

If you don't agree with what I just said, please tell me why we can't just let each other be? Why can't we let each other believe in what we want to believe? Why must we insult each other and go as far as having wars to prove that we are right? No god would want that.

Please respond politely. I'm not here to insult anyone.

  • Would this be a good saddle?

I starting up dressage and I only have a jumping saddle. I know I can do dressage in a jumping saddle but it is difficult since it is the exact opposite of a dressage saddle. I can't afford an expensive, $1000 saddle so I've been searching else where. I found this saddle and it is a great deal....maybe too great. Would it be a good saddle? Have you used this company before? Should I get it? If it is bad, do you know where I can get a cheap quality saddle? Thanks!

  • What are some fun riding exercises?

Lately, I've been bored riding. You can't blame me, trotting around in circles gets dull. I can't do much trail riding since I'm still working on my seat and my horse is a bit skittish. I would prefer not to canter and I've decided not to work on jumping. All for the same reason I don't trail ride. Does anyone know some fun exercises I can do in the ring today? I've been doing a couple of simple dressage tests but I want something more that can build my leg strength and keep me entertained.

Please don't tell me how to control my horse better and work on her skittishness, ect. I know how to handle the situation and I've been handling it. I am currently working on keeping my seat(my big overall problem) and advice on how to do so is welcome. I am currently riding without stirrups.

  • A question about dressage and helmets.?

Today I fell off my horse, hit my head, and was very thankful for my helmet which may have to retire now. Anyway, the fall was due to lack of control of my horse. I want to be an eventer and I'm working on jumping. I was talking to another rider today and she made a good point: I should start out with dressage so I can gain excellent control over my horse and than work on my jumping.

So, I was thinking about dressage and helmets today and then hit me: In upper level shows, dressage riders wear top hats instead of helmets. Why? Is this required? I want to be an eventer but I'm already dropping upper level x-country due to the high risk danger. If I can't wear a helmet in upper level dressage, than I'm dropping that to since I care about my life. So, to make this paragraph all make sense: Do you have to wear top hats in certain dressage classes or can you still wear a helmet? If not, why?

  • How do a stop a horse from taking off?

Today I was riding my mare. We were working on our canter. I decided to try a circle but I ended throwing myself off balance. Suddenly, before I could regain my balance, my horse took off. I fell. I'm so glad I was wearing my helmet because I hit the back of my head. I'm fine, no damage done.

Anyway, my horse has gotten into this habit of taking off. She used to never do it but now she does it whenever she spooks. She used to just jump, now she runs. I've fallen off a couple of times when she does this. I have even knocked the wind out of myself which scared me to death. I'm now afraid to ride out in the woods and I get nervous when she starts getting spooky.

I know you're suppose to turn your horse when the take off. I always forget and just pull back but she usually stops after a couple of stride. Plus, we were circling today when she took off so I have no clue how effective it would be.

How do you stop a horse from taking off? Today I got back on, cantered her a couple of strides, untacked. and did some heavy groundwork. I would have ridden more but I was freaked out and my head hurt a bit. Did I do the right thing? I really want her to stop taking off! What should I do? Why did she pick up this nasty habit? Please help!

  • Can horses eat Fritos?

My horse is an odd horse but I love her anyway. Recently she has taken a strange liking to salty snacks. I found this out when I through a Dorito into the grass that had fallen on the ground. My horse tried to run after it. She also ate on of my friend's Fritos and then licked the salt from her hand. I usually don't feed my horse treats to avoid nipping but if she likes Fritos, can she eat them? I wouldn't feed her a bunch of them but would she be fine with eating one? I'm just curious because she REALLY wants them and I do like giving her treats every once and awhile.

  • How to put a horn on a horse?

I've decided to dress up my horse for Halloween as a unicorn. My barn is throwing a mini-costume show so it should be fun! I'm going to make my horses hair wavy and I'm going to put sparkles in her mane and tail. I may even put sparkles on her hooves. I'm having trouble with the horn though. What should I make it out of so it doesn't harm anyone and how can I attach it to my horse without harming her or destroying my bridle?

  • Bitless or keep the bit?

I've decided to really get into natural horsemanship. I've been using some techniques for quite awhile but just recently I've decided to go bitless. My mare reacts well to it and still behaves but my mom brought up a good point today. I plan on showing and you need bits for show. If I ride bitless for too long, will my mare refuse the bit? She takes to it very well currently but I'm still trying to lighten up my hands and she does well without it. Should I remain bitless or revert back to the bit? Will me horse refuse the bit if I ride bitless for too long? Can riding bitless spoil my show career until they allow bitless bridles?

Note that I am to start showing in the spring and they are local shows. Thanks!
