  • why doesn't my computer power up?

Recently left my computer on overnight, woke up and it's not on. LED on motherboard was still lit, but no reaction when pressing power switch, just a high high high momentary pitch from power supply and slight twitch from auxiliary low power case fans. Jumped power switch connection on motherboard to rule out the switch, and same reaction of fans + high pitch noise. Bought a new power supply, connected it and no reaction from anything. LED on motherboard was still lit, and same twitch from case fans but no high pitch noise. Also unplugged all peripherals with both power supplies to rule out corrupt DVD-ROMs and hard drives, no change. looked for obvious burnt out components on motherboard and saw nothing. Next step?

  • when i hit ctrl-alt-del a list of svchost.exe files appear?

Now that I can use my ctrl-alt-del function, a list of svchost.exe commands appear. Upon researching i found out that running programs use these to operate, also including malware or viruses. How do I find out what software these are linked to? I use a program called process explorer and the details it gives on each program is endless and confusing.

  • why won't my dvdr drives read anything?

I have a pentium 4 2.8ghz computer with a master and secondary ide connectors on the motherboard. The setup of two DVDr drives connected to the secondary ide connector on the motherboard via a 80 pin cable has remained unchanged for years. Now windows xp sp2 says it cannot locate the drives. My bios recognizes them and displays them on the screen upon startup, but in windows under my computer, they no longer show up as drive d: and e: any more. From control panel, hardware, device manager, the drives are there with yellow exclamation marks next to them. What is the fix?

  • How to turn on 2001 deville TPMS system?

I have a 2001 cadillac deville dts with tire pressure monitors, but in the driver information panel, it doesn't scroll through the different wheel pressures. When I read a tsb it says you can enable or disable through a scan tool or a tech 2. I used a snap on tool which shows what the monitors are reading, but it isn't turning the system back on in the dash readout. If i scroll through the setting using the dash buttons, the enable/disable is missing as shown in the owner's manual. Any help?

  • what size is 2001 deville factory subwoofer and how to wire in different amp?

I have a 2001 cadillac deville dts with a factory subwoofer in the rear deck panel. I cannot tell what size it is. I wanted to replace it with a better one and also wire in a different amp. I found what appears to be the BOSE amp inside the trunk area behind the rear seat, but it has a dozen wires going to it, so i'm assuming it powers all the car's speakers. Does anyone know a way to wire in an amp just for the sub?

  • for 2 months my dryer won't dry, taking others advise I already replaced the burner and thermostat, still same

I fully dissassembled the dryer, the vent is not an issue, I replaced the burner assembly and it still does the same thing, the heat shuts off 10 seconds after a click is heard signalling the pilot light has been hit with gas. I watch my gas meter and the time the meter spins corresponds with the clicking on and then off 10 seconds later. Also replaced the thermostat. I have to turn the dryer on 3 times before a load will be dry. Any other possible culprits?
