My daughter was born in The Netherlands. I am American and her father is Dutch. When she was five when we moved to the USA. She holds both Dutch and U.S. citizenship. For purposes of college applications and scholarships, is she considered a "first-generation" American?

This water heater was in the house when we bought it. I find it very annoying. When I finally get some hot water to the shower, it lasts for 1 minute, goes cold for 2 minutes, hot again for another minute, etc. I can stand in the shower for 10 minutes an have 3 minutes of hot water total. Today I when it went cold the 4th time the water never did get hot again (I let it run about 10 minutes to see what would happen). And there is no way I would be able to fill a bathtub with hot water to soak in. That's a lot of water waste and high water bills (I live in southern California). Any suggestions?

My system has six stations but not all of the sprinklers in one of the stations goes on? Help!

I don't look forward to 30 miles of uphill climbing with winding roads. Can I avoid this?

I live in Southern California and would like to spend a few days in an area that is near a lake with lots of trees and not quite so hot. A change of scenery from beach and desert areas. I don't camp so that eliminates places like Big Sur. Yosemite is way too hot and crowded in the Summer. Also, it would be nice to go somewhere that doesn't have zillions of mosquitoes. Thank you.

We live in California and our extended family is in the mid-west and Europe. Does anyone have any suggestions for celebrating her graduation so it is really special for her? Thank you.

Me, my husband and two teens will be going to San Francisco to tour a few universities in the area. We have 4 tours scheduled, 1 a day, at UofSF, UCB, Stanford, and UCSC. We will have one free day. What do you suggest we see to give us (my daughter) a real impression of what living as a student in San Francisco might be like. The only "touristy" thing in our itinerary is Alcatraz Island. My husband is an alumni of the VU and it would be fun to get him a "college" sweatshirt for Christmas from there. It is a very common product here in the States but I am clueless as to where I might buy something like that online from the VU? Thanks!

My mother is 85 years old and her weight has dropped from about 100lbs to below 80lbs. She would like to buy some new clothes that fit. Girl's sizes wouldn't work because of the styles. She likes wearing elastic-waist pants and 3/4 length sleeved shirts. Help! I am traveling from another state to visit her in a couple weeks and that is on her "wish list" of things to do while I am there. Thank you.
