  • Researching central Air and heating units?

After 17 it looks like our air condition unit is at its end. I would like to do some research on air condition units heat pump combos. Most of what I have searched so far is more Brand driven and does not give me a good idea which units are more reliable. We have a 1700 squarefoot house in Jersey.

Which brand/unit give me the best value for the price?

    What prices to expect?

What to look out for etc.?

    Who to buy them from?

Is a large store like Sears better than a smaller contractor?

    Thanks

  • Rheem Classic X air conditioner?

Our air conditioner fan outside is not running. Before calling a repair guy in I would like to trouble shoot the unit. I already checked if there was a re-set button which there does not seem to be one. I also checked and all the circuits are on, no fuse blown. What else can I do trouble shooting wise ?

    Thanks

  • Should I make plans to start a new life?

I am a mother of 2. We moved to another state and home to be in a better school district. All along DH promised I would get a space to run my business.

Neither home was really set up for it but he still promised we would ad to the homes or renovates to fit my needs. This is our second home without me having a workspace to run my business. I recommended against buying this house. It has cost me loss of income not having my workspace.

We just had another contractor looking at our house and even consulted an architect just for him to tell me it is not going to happen. I am furious as this is now the 7th year of my situation. I believe I have given it enough time. Now I am wondering if I should not simply get my bachelor degree find a job that can support my children and myself and move on. I am simply fed up with this situation. It makes me insecure and too much dependent on my DH. He does not want to go to counseling. But if we did he would simply tell me he knows what my concerns are and claim we can't afford the improvement. He has used that excuse when I knew that was not the case. I just don't feel I can go on living for every ones else happiness and totally ignore my own needs.

  • Zucchini and squash in trouble

My zucchini and squash are showing signs of stress. They did great and produced lots of vegetable but now the leaves are covered with a white dust and they are rotting on the stem. I was told to put lime stone on them. I am not sure if it is doing much. Any other advise? We did have some strong rains but not every day. I don't think it is due to over watering. I did cut out the damaged leaves.

  • New Orleans first impression?

I just visited New Orleans. I was surprised for sure. This was my first time and all the information I got about New Orleans was so off base. It is all back and running. It felt save. The people where super friendly and there was so much fantastic food I need to go back to try more. Not all spicey like I assumed. It is a great place to visit with your whole family.

So what has been your impression of New Orleans?

Have you been back since Katrina?

Did you visit at a time of year other than the Marti Gra?

  • Oil based primer or water based primer for interior doors?

I am planing to paint interior doors. Currently they are beige and seem to have a tint of aging plastic. They are hallow contractor grade raisin doors from what I can tell. The new door color would mainly be semi gloss or satin white. I read on several sites to use oil based primer. Why use oil based to water base primer?

    Thanks
