  • Atheists I have a question for you?

I'd like to read the books of some of the best atheist authors that make claims against Christianity. Which ones are the best?

I have heard of Richard Dawkins and "The God Delusion". Who else would you recommend and which books would you recommend? Thanks

  • Archeological Evidence?

I thought this might be interesting:

I think the chariot wheels found in the sea and the finding of sodom and gomorrah were particularly interesting.

  • Christians Only: Toronto Blessing Movement?

I heard and read about this "phenomenon" many years ago but since then this "phenomenon" seemed to have died down a bit. I don't hear much about it anymore. How large has this grown and is it still continuing to spread and grow at a rapid pace?

Also are the "signs and wonders" movement continuing to grow rapidly or has this too died down?

I'm high alert on this one.

  • My theory about what happened to dinosaurs?

Genesis 3:14 “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life."

God cursed the serpent after the serpent deceived Adam and Eve. He made it clear that this animal (whatever it was that Satan used), was cursed above all living creatures on the earth.

If you take a look at the dinosaurs most of them walked upright and/or had long legs. But if you notice today (ie snakes, alligators/crocodiles, lizards) they all crawl on their belly and have short stumpy legs. As far as I know there isn't any reptilian like animal that walks upright as the dinosaurs did.

So it almost seems to suggest that dinosaurs were not allowed to continue in their current form because the curse of God was upon them.

Does anyone else see this.. agree/disagree?

  • Question about the power of jury nullification?

It seems like in many definitions I've read, jury nullifcation is the power to aquit a defendant of the charges against him based upon the jurys power to judge both the facts of the case and the law itself.

Does this power extend both ways in the sense that a jury has the power to deem a defendent guilty even though it may have been shown that he/she has not broken the law? Let's say that a jury knows for certain that a defendent is guilty and should deserve prison time but technically speaking this person did not break the law.

Also how come judges don't inform juries about the power of nullification and why is it a judge states a list of questions such as "Are you able to obey the law and apply it as it is given to you?"

Seeming to suggest in the mind of an uninformed juror that this is how things must be done and if we don't believe this we are not upholding the law. Thus the power of nullification is hidden.

It seems almost like a game of manipulation.

  • Is Joseph a symbol of Christ? If so does this mean a spiritual revival in Israel?

His brother's threw him into a pit and Joseph was raised in Egypt rising to power. After the crucifixion, Christ was working in the Gentile nations to save people after Israel had rejected Him.

Joseph rose to power and eventually there was a famine everywhere and Joseph's brother's went to Egypt for food where they came to the realization that Joseph was alive and ruler over Egypt. Joseph mentioned in Genesis that God placed him in that position to "save" people's lives through a "great deliverance".

I'm wondering if the famine points to the Great Tribulation period when there will be a great spiritual famine everywhere? I'm wondering if this means that during the Great Tribulation, the nation of Israel will come back to Christ and recognize that He is savior and ruler? Does anyone see the same thing that I see here?

  • One reason why I believe the Bible is divine in origin?

If you read Numbers 20 or Exodus 17 you will see a picture of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Moses strikes the rock with a rod and water came out.

Throughout the scriptures God likens Himself as a solid Rock. Isaiah 44:8, Psalm 18:31, Psalm 18:46 Jesus Christ Himself is considered the "chief cornerstone". Acts 4:10-11

Thus when Moses struck the rock this was a picture of how Jesus was smitten for our sins and transgressions that eternal life may freely flow from Him.

Water in the scriptures is symbolic of the gospel that gives eternal life. John 4, Ephesians 5:25-26 Thus through the death of Christ comes forth the gospel of eternal salvation that all may freely partake and live.

Notice that in the scriptures water came out of Christ after the crucifixion. John 19:33-35 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

  • Christians: I have a theory on when Christ *must* return. (No specific dates though)?

I strongly believe that there was only a limited amount of sin Christ had paid for when He died on the cross. This seems to indicate then that Christ *must* return when the last sin or set of sins paid for by Him at the cross come into fruition.

Christ cannot come anytime sooner or later than that specific time period. If He returns anytime sooner then it means that there are sins Christ was unjustly condemned for. Impossible because God is perfectly just. If He returns anytime later than that then it means that some true born again Christians will have sins that have not been paid for and will be lost. (Unless all Christians on the face of the earth do not sin any longer after that...which is obviously an impossibility as well). The scriptures also indicate that no believer will be lost.

Once the atonement for sins runs out Christ must return and end this world. Not a minute sooner nor a minute later.

    What are your thoughts?

  • The Ark of the covenant?

Might or might not be interesting tidbit.

The ark of the covenant contained 3 items. Hebrews 9:4-5

    1. Pot of manna

    2. 10 commandments

    3. Aaron's rod

Why is it that I see Christ?

Christ is the bread of life typified by the pot of manna -

John 6:48-50 I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.

Christ is the Law typified by the 10 commandments:

John 1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

John 1:14 - The word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Christ is the Judge typified by the rod of judgment -

2 Timothy 4:1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

Christ is the eternal God head 3 in 1 just as the ark contained 3 components in one box.

How come there are so many ancient underwater cities?

How did they get there? Some of them are pretty deep in the sea. Some of the pictures here are pretty stunning.

  • Jesus is Jacob's ladder?

How many of you have noticed this?

    Jacob's dream.

Genesis 28:12 "Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it."

    Jesus says:

John 1:51 "And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

Jesus is Jacob's ladder because he is the only way from earth to heaven.

  • Atheists: A question about Jesus?

Matthew 24:4-5 "And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many."

Matthew 24:23-25 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand."

This is a pretty darn bold statement to make considering Jesus was hardly known by many at the time he made these claims. The New Testament church wasn't even established yet. How did Jesus know imposters would come? Also in todays world there are many "Christians" that claim they can manifest "signs and wonders". Were these lucky guesses?

I'd like to hear your thoughts.

  • Atheists: If Christianity was exterminated...?

If there comes a specific time in the future when Christianity would be completely obliterated from the face of the earth, how would that make you feel? Would you celebrate and rejoice? Would you send gifts to one another?

  • Atheists: If God isn't real then...? Part 2?

For instance one says "I haven't been keeping up with the news".

or "religion causes violence". But you cannot stop large scale movements/problems by spending time on an internet forum.

For instance if the U.S. government is corrupted by Christianity then spending time here ain't going to work.

So are some of you just venting your frustrations here?

Do believe that spending time here you can convert Christians or those sitting on the fence to atheism?

    What is your intention?

I don't mean any disrespect to Atheists. I'm just very curious.

  • Atheists: If God isn't real then...?

Why do you get so upset when some zealous Christian talks about hell and damnation and tries to convert everyone?

If some guy told me he saw a space alien from Mars who was eventually going to destroy earth I'd laugh and be on my merry way. I wouldn't waste my time with such a lunatic. Nor would I try to convince those who believe his claim otherwise. Who cares?? After all Jesus was a lunatic since He claimed He was God and God doesn't exist? The Bible is fake... etc. I certainly wouldn't spend my time on such a forum as this.

  • Blindness in part has happened to Israel until...?

Romans 11:25 "For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in."

Is this verse saying that once all the Gentiles have fully come into the kingdom of God that Israel will experience a spiritual revival?
