  • Is China really serious about questioning the USA in the Human Rights department?

I read an article that pissed me off. Basically, China responded to their deplorable human rights record by saying the US is no better than them! Even if we have screwed up a little bit, that does not take away from the fact that they are the worst.

First off, they attacked our war on Iraq. They blame us for taking soveriegnty away from the Iraqis, as if Sadaam really empowered his people. Last time I checked, they have more freedoms now than they ever had with Sadaam, unfortunately, they are fighting amongst each other. Although we toppled Sadaam's gov and initiated this situation, we are not the ones intentionally killing civilians, thus, our human rights record isn't bad. Additionally, all the prisoner abuse crap, although it should never happen, are isolated occasions, and thanks to our media, every instance of it is covered and makes situations look worse than they are. In China, they could abuse millions and you'd never know. What a joke... seriously...

  • Is anyone concerned that Obama's platform is not yet really known?

My coworker pointed this out to me. If you go on many of the candidates' websites, their platforms are on the front page. Nearly all candidates have these so potential voters know if they are the right politician for them. However, Senator Obama does not yet have his platform listed. I think the reason might be because enough people know who he is already and he doesn't need to spill out his views. That is, if people know his platform, it would hurt him more than help him because some of his current supporters would not agree with his platform. What do you think?

  • Who decides which laws in Leviticus are obsolete or not?

It appears that many of the laws in this book are now obsolete. Read about all the stuff about periods, handling meat, and a variety of other things. The reality is that many of these laws were made because people back then knew something wasn't right, but didn't know why (people usually got hurt or sick as a result of breaking these laws). Thus, God said it was immoral and put hefty punishments on it.

For example, when we discovered sanitation and why meat handlers and people that came in contact with them became sick, those laws were thrown out. Same thing with a woman's period. When we figured out what was going on there, all those laws were virtually tossed out. Or the law stating that women are not allowed to talk in church, that's thrown out too. So my ultimate question is, if it becomes scientifically proven that homosexuals are born gay, will that law be thrown out too or will it be another stalemate like evolution?
