1 AnswerOther - Destinations1 decade agoTo those who believe the Bible is literally true, a few questions:?
When Moses and god turned the Nile river into blood in those plagues against the Pharaoh, what was the blood type? How about the hematocrit level? Did it have the Rh factor? What sort of plasma proteins were solublized? How long did it take for the clotting cascade to take action? Were any of the RBCs sickle celled? Were the RBCs macrocytic?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCure for poverty?
The author and columnist Christopher Hitchens has said something like the following:
"The only known remedy for poverty has been the liberation of women." Others have agreed with him on this. I thought about it for a while and found that I can think of a lot of examples that support that statement. The wealthiest nations in the world have to some extent liberated women from subordinate roles. Even China, when compared to places like Saudi Arabia and Kenya, have women whose roles are more pronounced in society. My question is this: how does liberation of women help end poverty? You can give dissenting answers so long as you don't do so by character assassination of Mr. Hitchens. I am not interested in the man who said it, I am interested in the statement. Thanks.
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoQuantum theory question?
Long ago, Ptolemy had a theory of the cosmos with an accurate, yet incorrect, mathematical model for it. His version made assumptions that were inconceivable, because they were impossible. I have been told that quantum theory makes assumptions that seem ridiculous, but they must be true because the mathematical model is so incredibly accurate. What are these assumptions? Also, how do we know that it isn't the case that quantum theory is accurate, yet incorrect as the Ptolemic universe was?

I see that the GRE is changing to a longer, more comprehensive test. I was wondering if it would be more benefitial to me to take the new one versus the current one.
