Is there a limit in the UK of how often my employers can put me in a redundancy pool?
Currently my employer is putting some of the staff into redundancy pools (and offering voluntary redundancy) every 3 months.
One of my colleagues says he believes that if you dodge the bullet the first time they can't put you in the next round although I am not able to find anything like that online.
6 AnswersLaw & Legal4 years agoI am replacing my bathroom door with a heavier weight one (25KG), how many hinges do I need for that?
Currently I have a lightweight (hollow) door & that has 3, 3 screw hinges.
8 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)5 years agoI have hands free voice activated bluetooth in my car which has recently stopped working.?
Just wondering if anyone had any odeas of why that might be?
It used to work well but for the last few weeks when I say "Call Home" (for example) the voice replies Pardon then eventually says Cancel.
Any suggestions on what might have changed to stop it working?
2 AnswersSoftware6 years agoI am waiting to hear for a date for surgery & was told they definitely would fit me into the 18 weeks - is this some kind of SLA the NHS has?
I didn't really think to ask what the consequences might be for them if they didn't fit me in in this time frame!
Is it an NHS/Government agreement or just something the individual hospital is trying to abide by?

but just can't work out what size I need.
3 AnswersCameras7 years agoIs there any way to create an Index in Word which is clickable to take you to the location of the indexed item?
I have several pages of data in a particular configuration - but sometimes people need to be able to find it more quickly and get to it.
Alphabetical as in an Index is good - then having the page number or the index detail clickable to take you to the location in the document would be perfect!
Any ideas?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design7 years agoDoes anyone use film cameras (as in not digital - not one to make films with!) any more?
I have a working one which is not an SLR but not a point & click - so I guess the equivalent of the current bridge cameras.
Last time I used it was for a project for a camera club but that was kind of specific to the time & place & I've not used it again since then!
7 AnswersCameras7 years agoWin7 - how can I change my default data drive?
I have had a new hard drive installed in my Win7 PC and want to use this for all my data.
In older versions it was relatively straightforward to change the default (modifying the autoexec and/or config as appropriate) but I can't see how to do it in Windows 7.
1 AnswerOther - Computers7 years agoI have made jelly from my garden fruit and have a load of cooked pulp. Anyone know of a use I can put it to?
No sugar added, just boiled up fruit with the juice strained out of it.
4 AnswersOther - Food & Drink8 years agoI want to prune my Bay tree but I know there were a number of nesting birds in there. Will all the young have?
fledged by now?
Everything seems to be running so late this year and I haven't yet seen any fledglings at the feeders although in years past I have seen them there in mid May.
I live in the UK in West Berkshire.
3 AnswersOther - Home & Garden8 years agoWindows 8 photo app - is there a way to add more locations (such as Dropbox or my own website)?
As the Microsoft blurb states - I have photos in many locatons. It allows me to pick up my Flickr photos but I can't work out a way to display photos from other locations such as Dropbox, my own web site, Picasa etc.
Any ideas?

2 AnswersSoftware8 years agoIs there any way to copy files into a random sequence on a USB key?
My new car can play music from a USB key but because the files copy to a "sorted" state (either alphabetically by title or alphabetically by artist) I get a complete block of songs by the same person - or all songs that start with "I" or "Love" (for example)!
When I burn a CD from WMP I can create a play list and randomise the songs in it - and they burn to the CD in that sequence - is there any way to do this with a USB key?
1 AnswerAdd-ons8 years agoUK - Can anyone suggest an Android smartphone with dual sim & a lot of onboard memory?
I currently have an HTC Desire - I love the phone but hate that it keeps running out of space on its hard disk (despite installing everything to the SD card).
I am on O2 at the moment but also have a PAYG Orange phone & I would love to be able to have both sims in the same phone & just keep the other phone switched off for emergencies.
Any ideas?
3 AnswersMobile Phones & Plans9 years agoUK. I have seen some thin material that looks like brown paper being used to protect panini grills.?
Does anyone know where I can buy some of this?
I specifically want to use it when I am grilling things on my George Foreman grill.
I have seen various products (such as toaster bags and teflon sheets) but none seem to recommend use in direct contact with heat - so not between the jaws of a hot grill.
2 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoUK: Are there any laws which state that a contractor HAS to take holiday?
I work in the UK with a contractor who is in a very long term contract but refuses to take any holiday. Even when he is sick he turns up in the office so he gets paid.
Is there no requirement in UK law for individuals to take holidays?
3 AnswersLaw & Legal9 years agoA friend is going to the US for his honeymoon & has asked for "dollars" if no-one can think of a wedding gift?
What is the best way to do this?
Just give him a handful of dosh from the bank?
Buy them traveller's cheques?
Are there better ways to do this these days?
