Why are some people not convinced that temperatures are contuing to rise in the last 5 years?
Here is the trend in recent temperatures:

In the face of this data why do some still claim that warming has stopped?

Here is the IPCC website that allows free access to all of their reports:
6 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoWho thinks that the (now famous) 1940 to 1970 cooling period refutes the theory of global warming?
That is my question, now, I want to show anyone who is interested some additional information to see if this influences anybodyies answer.
Here are the 20th C. temperature anomaly graphs from NASA:

I've seen sceptics use this repeatedly as some kind of proof against global warming. There are some problems with this though; the scientists supporting AGW do attempt to explain this cooling period and do present a plausible explanation that warrants some attention. They propose that aerosol particles can cause the planet to cool by reflecting some sunlight back to space. If you look at when sulfate particle emissions are largest you can see that they peak after the war and begin to reduce in the 70s upon the introduction of legislation designed to curb their emission. Sulfates cause acid rain and respiratory problems, hence the desire to cut down on their emission.
