US Marine 0311

  • Whats a good Police Department to work for?

Im an Infantry Marine, with the additional MOS of 8152(Marine Security Forces), I cant say much about what I do but I do have a top secret clearance. And Im looking at joining a Police Department after I get out.

Im looking at one of the bigger cities for shear action. So what is the best Department to work for. Not so much for the salary but for the training Id get and the quality of the officers themselves?

  • Is my rib bruised or cracked?

Im a Marine, who was boxing during the crucible about 2 months ago, and I took a shot in my left ribs. It was sore for a good weeks after but eventually seemed to heal.

However, recently Ive noticed that it hurts to laugh if Im sitting down. And after watching a pretty funny movie, Its hurting for no reason now.

So my question is, does it seem like my rib is just bruised and is taking a while to heal? Its not like unbearable, in fact it hardly bothers me except when I laugh. Im just worried I might need to have it checked out.

  • Question for Marines about weapons...?

If I was issued a MEU(SOC) .45 , could I customize the weapon so long as I could return it to the Armory as I was issued it? Or are there regs prohibiting me from swapping out grips and adding lasers and stuff?

  • Question of smoking and damage to my lungs?

So I started smoking black and milds about 6 months ago. And I just bought a pack of ciggarettes, i smoked half a pack and said **** this...anyway, how much damage could i have done to my lungs? I only started inhaling blacks about a month ago, and I was smoking about 1 black per day. Then I smoked like 2 ciggarettes per day for about a week..

Im not too terribly worried, i just found out that it takes 15-20 years for your lungs to clear up. And to anyone just starting, quit, this crap sucks.

  • Why do my parents do this?

Im 18, Ill be 19 in December. Im in the Marine Corps Pool program, I ship 6 December. Im going to be an MP, so I have a good job that is marketable, Ive always been a leader. I was even picked by my recruiters to be the guide for our recruiting station. Meaning out of 50 other Poolees they thought I had the best chance of being Honor grad in boot camp.

I was in JROTC for 6 years, did very well. I graduated on time, Ive never been arrested, or did drugs. Im overall very well rounded and level headed.

So why is it, that no matter what i do, no matter how well thought out my plans are, my parents fail to recognize that Im motivated? My parents constatly accuse me of being unmotivated and lazy, and when I tell them Im doing the best I can, they say my priorities are jacked up.

My parents never give me credit for my achievments, they instead look for the next thing to nag me about. And the latest thing is, because I cant find a job, that makes me a bum. Even though Ive applied to everywhere I can think of, its not good enough. So apparently Im supposed to beat on the doors of everywhere I can every second of every day. Otherwise Im not motivated enough.

I mean, What am I supposed to do? I think Im just at the point where Im grown enough to have my own way of doing things. And its not my parents way so its automatically wrong. Is this normal? Im the oldest if that helps.

  • Marine Recruiter assist question?

I just enlisted about a month ago and I know you can volunteer for up to 14 days recruiter assist in your home town.

But can you choose where you go, or is it wherever you were recruited from. Because I moved from Hawaii to Colorado, and was only in Colorado for about 6 months. Whereas most of my friends are in Hawaii and i feel I would be better prepared to help the guys down there.

So can I pick where I go? Or do they send me to the RSS where I enlisted from?
