I've been playing rugby on and off for 15 years for women's club teams. I started playing as a freshman in college and fell in love with the sport. I went to college in upstate NY, but moved to South Carolina in 2004. I'm also a speech language pathologist, bachelors in 1996 and masters in 2000. I have about 10 years experience in the field and work primarily with early intervention (birth to 3 years) and young children in a private clinic.

  • Logo licensing needed?

I use rugby balls, typically ones that have team names/ brand names on them, to make purses out of by attaching handles and zippers, etc. I buy the balls through websites/ ebay/ or in stores with the logos already on them. Im not putting the logos on the balls myself. Anybody know what needs to be done to legally clear me?... as this business is growing! Also, sometimes people send me the ball they want made into a purse... how do i get around any red tape legally, if there is any? Thank you!

  • Did you know you can watch USA @ Canada Rugby Live 7/11 at 1:30 MDT?...i think for free!?

Ive been looking for where it would be broadcast after the high of actually having it on ESPN last weekend LIVE from right here in Charleston. Setanta isnt showing it and its not on ESPN. It looks to be free!!! Go to http://www.ustream.tv/RugbyCanada or find the link through http://www.usarugby.org/ (where you can find the times theyre replaying the Charleston match from last weekend too). I'll give the points to the closest score estimate! Good luck USA!!

  • Any of you rugby fans in London watching the NY Giants vs Miami Dolphins american football game?

just curious if any of you are watching! the NFL has been playing games internationally... with our own players in other countries. Its a weird concept, but i guess its meant as a way to intoduce american football internationally. this year the game is in Wembley stadium in London. Last year they played in Mexico. what are your thoughts? Will this sort of exhibition match help the world see american football more positively?

  • Anyone have recruiting ideas for a womens rugby club team?

I live in South Carolina, USA and our team has been struggling to grow to a full side for more than 4 years. WE currently rely on another city (and they rely on us) to make a full side. If we could each have a full side then we could actually play each other!! (like we do in 7's season)

I welcome any original ideas and success stories or if you have a list of things not to do, then thats great too!

  • Jersey Choices...What are your pros and cons for different materials/ fit/ cuts?

My team is selecting new jerseys. We are a women's club team in the south (South Carolina, USA). our challenges include finding a jersey with proper fit that will keep us as cool as possible in the heat/ humidity. Tight enough to avoid shirt tackles, yet large enough for large players. I think the size differences in women's club teams are much more than in men's teams. we've got little hookers that are shorter than 5' and teeny tiny and large and tall locks and props. the tallest is 6'0 and needs XL for DD's! we're a true... "from size 2 to 22" club. The goal is to find soemthing that will last and fit a variety of players. I'd appreciate any suggestions on versatile fabrics and if you have experience with dri-fit vs, cotton or any other new technology material. if you have a suggested company or any further info, that would be great too. thanks!

  • Anybody else annoyed by the millions of "Where can I watch Rugby World Cup?" questions??

anyone know how to google anymore? or scroll the list of previously asked questions? Are you that lazy?

here's the deal- Setanta has the broadcast rites... watch it on DirecTV or dish or some cable companies- go to Setanta.com and look up how to purchase the channel. Or you can order it live on setanta broadband and watch it on your computer- or you can watch it in a bar- most bars have setanta- it might take some scouting or calling around. The games are listed on setanta's website and they will tell you if the game is being played live or not. if it is delayed, it will be delayed 24-48 hours form the live time on the regular setanta sports channel. Setanta also replays the games in prime time. just find the tv listings for your area and search the setanta channel for the guide.

some bars have setanta premium channel which shows all matches live... it costs bars lots of $$ so not many have it but you can search a venue on setanta site.

  • Not REALLY a question, other than is Aussie54 a cowardly ****? In response to Women playing union rugby?

I just don't have another way to respond to his comments... Firstly, women's and men's rugby are completely different... it is still REAL rugby... news flash...women play competitively internationally. We have a completetly different club than the mens team- different funds and everything... thats not our issue. they see us as a resource (most of us girls have been playing way longer than the guys) and a way to further promote the sport. its different in the states- its a new sport here- nobody really knows about it becasue its not televised. yes i demand im treated like the men- becasue we are just as competative- and they treat us equally. as for the lesbian comments- most of our team is striaght but if we can break down the dykey stigma- we can get more women to play rugby... and that way have to rely less on the men...oh and we have a grand total of 10 calendars left... and half of the damn year is over- thats why they are 10$. theres nothing wrong with being gay and playing

  • Does anyone have connections to a possible coach in Charleston, Sc for the women's rugby team?

Our women's team is finally growing to where we have a consistent number of people showing to practice and we need a coach. If anyone knows of someone willing to coach a women's team in charleston, South Carolina, please let me know! We have various skilled players on our team from new rookies to 10+ years playing. Our goal is play matrix matches next year.
