  • How to get a quick appointment for Indian passport under normal scheme?

I want to schedule a fresh passport appointment for my mother's application. When I tried paying the application fees it showed me earliest available date was 07/03/2013. However, I was not able to pay the fees due to some system failure.

Now, whenever I am trying to pay the application fees, it is showing me the date as 07/04/2013. I am applying under Normal scheme (not Tatkaal) and I want to do it without going to an agent.

My question is that how will I be able to secure an earlier date for the passport application. Will I need to book this one first and keep checking online daily if earlier date is available?

    Thanks

  • What should INFPs do in this world to be happy and satisfied?

Note that I asked about satisfied, and I am wondering whether INFPs can be both happy and satisfied by doing something that is up their alley rather than trying endlessly to fit themselves in conventional roles. Please provide your inputs.

Hi, i have a form made in xhtml like this:

    <div class="buttonClass"><button value="clear" onclick="clearFunction(x)">Clear Fields</button></div>

Ideally, clicking this button is supposed to just clear a couple of text fields above it which it does fine. But in Firefox and Chrome, this also causes the form to be submitted. Someone please suggest some method of stopping the form from getting submitted every time i click this button

  • Can you please help me understand this passage from a book?

To solve the problem of what is mathematical truth, Poincare said, we should first ask ourselves what is the nature of geometric axioms. Are they synthetic a priori judgments, as Kant said? That is, do they exist as a fixed part of man's consciousness, independently of experience and uncreated by experience? Poincare thought not. They would then impose themselves upon us with such force that we couldn’t conceive the contrary proposition, or build upon it a theoretic edifice. There would be no non-Euclidean geometry.

Should we therefore conclude that the axioms of geometry are experimental verities? Poincare didn't think that was so either. If they were, they would be subject to continual change and revision as new laboratory data came in. This seemed to be contrary to the whole nature of geometry itself.

Poincare concluded that the axioms of geometry are conventions, our choice among all possible conventions is guided by experimental facts, but it remains free and is limited only by the necessity of avoiding all contradictions. Thus it is that the postulates can remain rigorously true even though the experimental laws that have determined their adoption are only approximative. The axioms of geometry, in other words, are merely disguised definitions.

This excerpt is from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Can you please help me understand this. I've completed graduation in computer engineering, so I'm not a complete layman.

    Thanks in advance

  • My Dell Laptop seems to be overheating, what to do?

    I have a Dell Latitude D410 running windows XP sp2, 2GB RAM

it was working fine and dandy sometime back, but now it has started overheating. The system shut down once and a message appeared saying that the system temperature had risen too much. also if i place my hand near keyboard or any vents, the air is very hot. I have not changed the place of the computer so mostly its at room temperature in my bedroom.

Concerned, i downloaded a temperature reader program at http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html

Then i ran the program and the display is showing foll details:

CPU Temp: it was 80 when i started writing this question, but now it is going to 96C

    GPU temp: 61C

    Memory temp: 56C

    Hard Drive: 47C

    CPU speed: 1733MHz

    Fan state: 5345RPM (high)

Are these temperatures normal? Also, when i touch the keyboard, i sense deep humming vibrations that i did not earlier. Please advise me on this issue.

    Thanks
