  • How do you factorise 2-x^2?

I know x=±sqrt2, however I am a little unsure on how to factorise this using difference of two squares, seeing as the x is negative.

    Many thanks!

  • y intercept of f(x-1)?

    f(x)=x^2-6x+14

    The y intercept of f(x) is 14.

The graph is then transformed by f(x-1).

What is the y intercept of f(x-1)?

    Thank you!

  • Show that x^2+7x-12=0?

Firstly, let me make it clear that I am not looking for what x equals, just proof that the equation equals 0.

    Here is the full question:

Peter cuts a square out of a rectangular piece of metal.

    ___________________

    |.....................................|

    |........________.............|

    |........|

    |........|

    |........|_______|.............|

    |___________________

The length of the rectangle is 2x+3

The width of the rectangle is x+4

The length of the side of the square is x+2

The area of the shaded shape (the metal remaining) is 20cm^2.

    Show that x^2+7x-12=0.

  • How can I be confident and insecure?

I am a completely confident person, I can get on stage and speak in front of hundreds of people.. But I'm also extremely insecure. I really worry about losing the people I love as well as sometimes believing that I'm not good enough for them.

To me, confidence and insecurity are kind of opposites.. so how am I both at the same time?

    Thanks!

  • Feel proud to be sociopath (I think)?

I have recently been reading a lot about sociopaths and I believe that I conform to a lot of the personality traits. I am thinking that I am a sociopath, at least to some extent. The weird thing, however, is that I feel proud about this.

    Why? Thanks :)

  • 15 year old: Losing confidence and motivation?

I'm 15 years old and I used to be extremely confident. I could make speeches, give talks and presentations... everything. However, this is no longer the case. I am rather reserved in everything I do and I worry about what others think of me. I've read that you should fill your time with things that you love to do, however, the things that I love to do require confidence. I love making presentations and speeches!

I also have absolutely no motivation to do anything. I leave everything until the very last minute. The thing is... I'm not doing anything to fill up the time that I could be doing work in.

Is there anything that I can do to regain my confidence and motivation?

    Many thanks...
