Hi, I'm 42 years old, male and happily married. No kids (not by choice)

  • My puppy (bulldog) eats rocks! (and anything else on the floor or ground)?

So my Bulldog is 16 weeks old and will chew on larger rocks (penny size) but will swallow smaller pebbles (tic tac size). Just about anything on the ground he will at least put in his mouth. Small things he will (try) swallow. I have to watch him like a hawk and find myself digging rocks and other things out of his mouth. Is this a puppy thing or what am I dealing with?

  • Is it normal to be depressed after getting a pupply?

My wife wanted a puppy and I was willing to go along with her. We were never able to have kids so why not? I am lucky to have my own business so I have the ability to take him with me and never have to leave him home by himself all day. It all seemed prefect... 2 weeks into this I feel depressed and frustrated.

I hope its just a temporary thing. Its hard work house training a puppy and I have wondered more than once if this was all a big mistake. I love the little guy but now I realize our freedom is gone, our good night sleep is gone, my laziness is gone, lol. Can't sit on the couch for very long these day! They are work!

Am I going through a normal stage of puppy ownership or am I in trouble? Has others experienced this and is it just temporary?

  • Where to stay in Washington DC?

The wife and I (no kids) are planning a 3 night visit to the DC area. During the day we want to see the sites (monuments, museums, mall etc.) At night we would like to find some nice restaurants, pubs, martini bars or wine bars to hang out at. We're in our upper 40's so not looking for crazy all night clubs but nice places with a little excitement. Nothing extremely upscale but nice. We've heard about Dupont Circle, Georgetown/Foggy Bottom and of course the Downtown area. We are not as concerned with price as much as convenience. Easy access to the sites during the day and plenty of nightlife in the evening. So my question is... what area should we stay in? We will be driving in but once we park at the hotel I would rather not have to drive too much until we have to leave. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, advice, ideas!

  • what is the best Canada Cruise?

The wife and I are looking for a cruise in September. We are veteran cruisers but have never done one of the few Canadian cruises. It appears most start in the US and have a stop or two in Canada. Can someone who has had some Canadian cruising experience chime in? Which one should we do and is this cruise worth it? Should we do it at all? Thanks in advance!

  • Can someone give me an assessment of the Minnesota Vikings?

I am a big Vikings fan living in Ohio. Their games are not televised here. I have been pleasantly surprised so far with their improvement. I would like to know how their rookies are doing like Kalil, Harrison Smith, etc. What are they still in need of... things like that. It appears from what I read and see in the box score that AP is going to be just fine. Not 100% yet but way ahead of schedule. Ponder also is showing major improvement. Percy is a stud and the defense seems much improved but I know nothing of the fine details. I hope someone who has watched the games can let me know some of the fine details I probably don't know.

  • How the hell do you choose a book to read?

I like to read in the Fall and Winter. I am getting ready and would like to find 4-5 good books to read but never know how to go about figuring out what to read. How do you pick your books out of the millions that are available?

  • International Wire Transfer - Euros to US Dollars?

On Friday I did an international wire transfer to The Netherlands from my bank here in Ohio in the amount of 8,175 in Euros. My bank couldn't give me the exact amount it would deduct from my account because the exchange rate fluctuates but online you can find up to the second exchange rates and by my calculations for that day and really for the past several days it should be around $10,120 plus my $25 wire fee. I checked my account this morning online and it shows $10,385.19 came out of my account. My bank is closed until Monday but I plan on calling them... can anyone give me an idea of why it might be $265 more than the online information I am finding? What am I missing??? Thanks

  • If I could only visit 2 cities in CANADA... which two?

I'm flying into Montreal for a few days and only had time to visit one other city should I drive to Ottawa or Quebec City??? Or is there another city close I am missing? Or is it worth trying to stretch my time between all three cities. I hate to miss anything! Thanks

  • Visiting Canada... Montreal, Toronto,?

We are looking for a vacation in September. We are a mid 40's couple no kids and looking at Canada. We live in Ohio so want to stay on the eastern part of Canada. We thought about either flying into a city and staying there or driving and exploring a few cities. Can anyone suggest ideas or the best places/cities to visit. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

  • What's the 'rule of thumb' when reading a book?

I started reading again and seem to have hit a wall when picking books. The last couple books I read were pretty dull and a struggle to get though. This latest book I am reading I am only 50 pages in (its a 650 page book) and having thoughts about giving up on it. What's the 'rule of thumb' before giving up? Read at least a quarter or half the book or finish it no matter what? Just wondering how others judge books as they are reading them...

  • Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 complete... NOW WHAT?

I have a PS3 and have loved the Uncharted series. Now I have completed all of them and don't know what to play next. I tried a few other titles like BioShock but just didn't feel anything lives up to the Uncharted series. What games for the PS3 would you recommend for someone who can't get enough of Uncharted?

  • Why does time "seem" to go so much faster now?

I mean a minute is still a minute, a month is still a month, time has not changed since it began but now that I'm 43 time seems to be flying by like never before! When I was in school it seemed like the school year was forever and today a month flies by like its a week, a year flies by like a month. Its 2012 already and I'm still wondering where 2010 went, did we have a 2011? Its downright scary! "Just wait until you get older, time will fly by." I remember being told that by mom, dad and others when I was young. How true it is... why?

  • No kids... difficult time of year for us. Any advice?

My wife and I met each other later in life and have a wonderful relationship together. But when we tried to have kids about 5 years ago we could not. We tried all options. I think maybe our ages were the factor. Adoption was talked about but we decided against it, it just didn't feel right. Not sure why but it just didn't feel like something we should do. Now at Christmas... especially at Christmas we see all the kids in the malls and at family functions and it brings us down, especially her. If anyone else is out there in this situation and can offer advice on what might help with the sadness it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Mac, iMac games... are there any good ones/must haves?

I have been a Mac user for years but never for games. Are there any real good games out there for the Mac? I like the action/adventure type games but will consider any that are must haves...

  • I am a GEMINI male (June 2nd)...?

Is a Sagittarius female (Dec 16) a good love and relationship match for me? I know nothing about this topic and not sure I really believe in it but just very curious. We have been together for 11 years now and it just seems like its been the perfect relationship.

  • Pandora bracelet and charms?

I want to get my Wife some charms for her Pandora Bracelet and was wondering if the charms are all the same or should I stick with Pandora charms only? I have seen some other sites selling charms that are much cheaper and wondered how the quality is? The charms from Pandora are more expensive but if they are much nicer then they are worth it. Thanks

  • Midlife Crisis or something else?

I am 43 and I have been dealing with some depression at times lately and it involves reality, age, the end is near, losing those that I love the most and being alone to live out my last years all by myself. It all started after I had a very scary/traumatic event and it seemed to really open my eyes to things that I never thought too much about before. Now I have been dealing with this about the last 8-10 months. My parents are in their mid 70's and I fear being w/o them soon. My siblings are all 10 years plus older than me and I fear seeing them die someday. Worst of all my Wife who is also older then me I fear having to say goodbye to her someday. I want time to stop for a while, its just going too fast! I don't look forward to the future at all. I am so happy with the way things are in my life today but know it will not stay this way. Is this just a midlife crisis or worse? Any suggestions? Thanks
