Left computer on over the weekend. Came back & the monitor was asleep. Wiggled mouse, nothing. Reboot. Monitor is on through windows startup.. until login screen. Then it says "no signal input.". If I start in safe mode its fine. Tried the oldest system restore I could find. Nothing. Tried to update drivers through windows 7. All up to date. Ran out of options. All cables are secure. Video card is also secure. Ideas? Suggestions?

here is the build i made. i plan on using it 80% for video watching, and 20% for autocad, and photoshop(raw file editing).

this is in addition to regular web surfing, and other random programs. garmin mapsource, etc.

i am limited at around 700 bucks shipped for the pc. i figure i will be able to upgrade items in the future. video card, processor, and ram. in that order.

is there anything you would change?

i am looking for a relay for my lights on my fourwheeler. basically i have a 12volt wire going to the factory lights. i want my aftermarket lights to come on only when my high beams are on. so i want to run a relay that would be switched by the high beam wire and would automatically complete the circuit to my aftermarket lights, which are wired directly from the battery. i dont know much about the amperages, etc, but i know the aftermarket lights have a 30amp fuse inline.

so basically i just need a relay that when its getting power it completes the circuit, and when it loses power it disconnects the circuit.

i would prefer it to be waterproof and a stand alone type of thing. aka soderless connector and heatshrink connections.. or even something that held the wire by a screw.. similar to what you would find on the bottom of a simple toggle switch.

seems like it should be a simple relay to me.

my gateway w650i has an issue with the touchpad. id like to access the settings. mainly the scrolling feature. when i go to start>control panel> mouse, i don't see where i can access my touchpad settings.. the only tabs are buttons, pointers, pointer options, wheel, and hardware. none of which have any settings for the touchpad. do i have to download a driver, or something? ive seen most people with similar questions say that there is an additional tab at the top of the mouse dialogue box.

i spend a lot of time on the road, and many times im looking for unsecured networks that i can "borrow" to check my email. its dangerous to continuously look at my computer while driving, and inconvenient to constantly stop and check if im within range of a wireless network. im looking for a program that i can put on my laptop that will alert me with a beep when i am in range of an unsecured network. any extra features such as different tones for secured and unsecured networks would be cool too. as well as tones for when i leave the network range.

also interested in programs that will automatically connect me to any unsecured networks.

it would be a bonus if the program was free, but that might be pushing my luck.

i am installing 3/4" thick pipe insulation on my 1/2" hot water pipes in the basement/crawlspace. the problem im having is the pipes are currently clamped tight against the floor joists. after i remove the existing clamps and install the insulation, what should i use to hang the pipes.

but my question is, should it be put on the outside of the insulation? that would be a lot easier and allow the insulation to seal better.

also, they have copper and galvanized strapping. does it matter which i use?

OK, i currently have an Canon Elan 7. for that camera i have a few lenses.. but not canon lenses. they are by manufacturers such as sigma, tameron, etc.. i have read that Canons auto focus lenses will work on the new digital body cameras(i am looking at getting a 20D), but they never say anything about the non-mfg lenses. does anyone know if they will work as well, or is this not a clear cut answer?

i have an old antique motorcycle that commonly needs repairs done on the side of the road.. in order to save space i like to have wrenches that have different sizes on each end.. for example, 1/2" on one end and 7/16" on the other.. i have a few of them but would like to get more.. the problem is, i dont know what they are called, so i cant find them. does anyone know what they are called, or where i can get them?

hi, i am doing a drainage project in my back yard and need to join 4" pvc piping into the side of 6" HDPE pipe. i am wondering what coupling options i have? Could i use some sort of caulking, or maybe wrapping it in filter fabric would work? it does not need to be watertight, i just dont want dirt getting in.

What are some decent native shrubs that i can get my mom for christmas that are ok to be planted in the winter? natives preffered.. woody plants preferred.. medium shrubs, large shrubs, small trees.. located in southeastern pennsylvania. partial to low sun levels.. well drained soils.. currently have viburnums, dogwoods, redbuds, rododendrons, pinus strobus.. surrounding forrest is hickory, poplar, maple.. and plenty of rosa multaflora ;)

even if i hook up the cable through the vcr, it still works. i can change channels through the vcr and everything. but as soon as i press play, the video gets completely scrambled, i cant even see the "counter". the audio is fine, its just the video. my tv tuner is the leadtek winfast tv2000 xp expert. its almost like there is a scrambler for copyright protection or something.

is it really just a one tenth of an inch difference? why do they even bother? which way do they measure the monitor? horizontal or vertical? is a 20.1 widescreen wider than a 20.1 non widescreen?

hi, im looking for a hip mens shoe that i can wear to work(jeans and dress shirt), as well as out to dinner and bars. currently i am wearing a kenneth cole reaction sieries shoe, which i love, but feel as though its slightly dated. id also like to keep the price reasonable, maybe under 100, 150 at most. thanks!
