  • Installation of AutoDesk AutoCad?

Is there a possible way to install the AutoCad into my portable harddrive? I had desktop in home and in studio. The problem is that the home cad that I have now is 2011 version while the office cad is not (I have backward conversion for few files, ended up corrupting them). Both copies are copyrighted.

Please help. The version 2011 is running 64 bit and I think the studio is still 32 bit. To bring a portable hard drive and use it will probably the only way to solve the conversion as for now.

  • The dog is over weight, what shall we do?

We recently adopted a dog, with the animal shelter, she was okay. But then when we brought her to the animal hospital (Banfield), the doctor realized that she was slightly overweighted (around 4 pounds overweight than the same/similar breed) of dog. She is a carine terrier...

The doctor suggested we give her something for the dietary (prescription required). But then observe will her weight decreased.

I am thinking to have her on exercise more outside and let her drink more fluid daily (just a thought) will that make her over weight problem gone faster?

(I do have a backyard for the dog to run around and chase the squirrels).

  • Pregrancy vs. House Animals?

My wife got a miscarriage once and we did not have dogs or cats or any house animals. But these days, we adopted a dog from the shelter and had her checked up with the animal hospital already (shots, heartworm tested, etc).

But then the rumors come...some friends of mine told me that the dog will interfer my wife to get pregrant...Me and my wife were then start to get frustrated; because we both love the dog and from my older parents, they told me that I was born with the dogs that my father had...

I am just curious why people started this type of rumors? Or is that somewhat true that a myth is going on in america?

Of course, if scientifically proven that is true (such as miscarriage was due to lack of prenetal vitamin, that I can somewhat accept that); but for the animal that can "invisbly" interfer the pregrancy, I found that was border some...

  • Donation Corruptions?

I am seeking help how to report a possible scam (or corruption) on charity donations. Our group of members had donated a large amount of money, both in checks and cash to a charity event. However, it seemed that the organization (medium size non-profit organization) had cashed the checks but it did not send out any forms of receipt.

Our group then called the organization and found out that the money was never cashed or deposited in their account (the organization account). The coordinator had been "gone" and no longer with the organization.

It is possible that the coordinator had used the stamps to stamp the check and deposite (or make it cash from the checks). The amount was large (we are talking about thousands to 50k). We are trying to seek for a legal action to report this for investigation. But we are not sure who and what agency should we start?

    Any advises will be helpful.

  • how much to replace outdated wires?

I am thinking to upgrade the existing 100 amp panel to a full 200-amp service panel. Also, my home was build in 1954, which some of the existed wires are the old aluminum wires (those with a nylon/fabric wraps) coating.

I am not sure how much will it cost to replace all the existing wires (they are 3-prongs, usually when I open the electric outlet or plugs, there is black, white and a green lines).

Anyone know how much service upgrade and replace the wires cost?

Is the job difficult since all wires are inside the drywall?

  • Renter payment not pay?

I have the renter left the house already for nearly 30 days. But the water bill was outstanding and now the water authority had asked me to pay the bill or I will have a Lien on the title. I have sent out email to the renter but he only replied once and ignored the rest of the mail. Yes, when I called, the phone goes to voice mail.

Now the renter is no where to find; but I have his SSN and his wife's SSN in the contract document. Can someone let me know where I should file the outstanding payment so that I can at least get something back or have the county sherriff to get them? (I am in Virginia) Should I go to local county office where I filed the eviction?

BTW, I have paid the water payment already to avoid that lien.

  • subaru transmission fluid change?

I have a Legacy and brought to the dealer for oil change. After the inspection, the dealer recommended to replace the transmission fluid (look very light brown, burned), the harness o-ring is leaking, transmission filter is rusted, and rear engine seal may need to replace as well.

I have the rear engine seal replaced during the HG replacement that is recalled and replaced at 90k, now my legacy outback is around 148k.

I remembered that my old 1995 legacy, after the dealer (subaru dealer) replace and change the tranny fluid, within 200 miles, the tranny won't able to shift from 2nd to 3rd, brought it back and the dealer said is no guarantee on it...because the slugge was washed off and not sure why it happen (of course, they do know what happen)...

So I want to ask will the tranny fluid replacement listed as an item of warranty (12 mos/12k miles) if same thing happen like the 1995 legacy (let said the tranny is not working properly?)

  • Donating Blood First Time?

The doctor told me that I have rare blood type (an O negative) which will help a lot of people this season. Some reasons that the donator bank need a lot of blood.

However, I remembered that when I have the annual physical blood exam (that took 5-6 tubes of blood for testing), the nurse usually need to draw blood from my hand instead of the forearm area. I looked on the commercials or the internet, it seemed that the needle for drawing blood is usually bigger than the one used for blood sample test.

My question is that how the donor center able to draw my blood if my veins are not "big" enough for the needle to go in? Any pre-cautions that I need to take?

  • Tax 2010 Small Business?

A question being asked for few times, just want to get clarifications:

    I have a small business, self-employed.

I have the company name as advertistment and all the credit card transactions had been reported to IRS.

But I have some checks written to me that I had cashed (or deposited); and then used my name to deposite back to the company. This was not reported to IRS, not on purpose, just I did not realized.

    My question is that:

    1. If the amount that I had deposite to my bank account and used my credit card to pay to my own company, the amount was not reported to IRS, is that a legal thing to do?

    2. If not (No to 1.), what must I do to avoid problems or even convictions?

  • 2010 Tax Credits question?

I looked up and found out few items that I am in question of for the 2010 Tax Credits:

    1. Main Entrance Door replacement. The new door had the Energy Star and Home Depot told me that I can put that as a tax credit for the 2010 season (because I purchase it back in Sept 2010), which form do I need for this?

    2. Tree removals, due to the age of the trees, it had been inspected and decided to cut down. There was a claim due to the damages. Is this tax credit due to loss? The tree company suggested me to cut them down due to the life of the tree. If yes, which form do I need? and should I claim that as a loss (the claim was back in April 2010).

  • AC and Furance Maintenance?

I recently have the furance and duct work clean up. The specialty service suggested me to clean the evaporator coil and the assembly parts in the furance where he cannot do it due to licensing.

I have few contractors (licensed HVAC and Carrier Certified) to come to estimate the cleaning. The price ranged dramatically different from 200 to nearly 1500. All of them estimated the time to be 3-4 hours on a day.

My system is the Carrier WeatherMaker 8000 with the 2.5 Evaporator Coil. When I looked at the coil, I thought that I can use a vaccum broom to clean it. The blower motor inside the furance only need to taken 4 screws and slided it out (that is how the estimator did).

I can see a lot of dust or buildup in the coil but these are loosen dust.

Please advise, should I clean it by myself (Easily done) or should I have the pros to do it?

How much it usually cost and what parts are exactly be clean?

  • MS Office Sale Price?

I looked into a retail (local) store and found the MS Office 2010 Professional (disc version) for nearly 300+ dollar for 1 PC. When I search on website, some sites only sell the downloadable version for nearly 130-150 dollars for 1 PC.

But the site did not tell any information about the license for installation (or so-called the COA).

Is that legal? how come the site can cost nearly half or even 70% of the original marked price?

Reason being is that I don't want to buy the illegal copy where I cannot update the office in the future.

  • Tenant moved out, but outstanding bills?

I have a tenant moved out recently, but after 60 days, I received a call about an outstanding water/electricity bill. The representatives from the local company had contacted me about the bill and need me to pay for it or my property will held on lien.

I live in Fairfax County and assumed that the tenant will not be contactable again, what should I do?

    1. Should I pay for it in advance and then file the legal document to chase the tenant's amount?

    2. Should I skip the payment?

  • Best Wireless Router?

I currently had a Netgear WGR614 wireless router. After I moved to the new house (basement, first floor and second floor), I have a good signal; but it will drop eventually once or several times in an hour. Unless I wired the system to a hard cable; then it will run okay.

So I went to the store to see if they can help, but I felt like they are suggesting me for a 150+ dollars router. I observed a common component that all the suggested router had: Dual Band, 300Mbps, Wireless b/g/n, even some of them are on sale (Dlink, and Netgear).

My question is that which one should I have (name and model)? I will use the router constantly for at least 2 laptop (wireless) running and at least one (wired) component. If anyone can help, no need to be bias on such brands, would be greatly appreciated.

  • service upgrade for home electricity.?

When I bought the house, the inspector told me that the service cable (the long cable from the pole to the weather head > to the meter reader) is new.

But the cable is 100 amp cable, the meter is 60 amp.

Then I found out later that the cable from the meter to the in-house switch panel was worn out (I can see ground silver wires). I want to replace this cable (around 24 inches long and go through the masonry). But the electricity company said NO because they have to drop the service and have someone inspect it again.

My switch box (in home) is 100 amp box with all those GFI already.

  • muffler shop put the wrong muffler on?

    I felt robbed.

I went to a muffler shop because one of the connection of the catalyst was broken. So the shop quoted me with the replacement of Bosal (Subaru kinda used the Bosal as the substitute). I called the dealer and it was fine that the warranty won't be void.

So the muffler shop proceeded with the repair, and they put into an ACR universal catalyst for the car. I found this out 2 days ago when I go to the dealership for oil change. They show me a regular Subaru Cat and a Bosal Cat., of course, the universal looked bigger and not the perfect fit.

Plus the dealership told me that the muffler shop only welded (instead of bolted) the cat on the connections....which will comes off easily (the cat will be okay but the connection will fail before the cat expired).

What should I do? I want to dispute the charge and bring back the part to the muffler shop (MEINEKE) and get the Bosal one that they quote for. The receipt on the shop said is ACR instead of Bosal (which I thought ACR is the under Bosal which is not).

The part had been on the car for around 40 days.

  • hardwood floor over hardwood floor?

I recently bought a home and fortunately the seller told me the hardwood floor was around 7 years old. But after I moved in, I realized that stains were randomly located and finally the pet consultant found out there were some urine stains. It did not smell; but under the sunlight, the urine stain is visible.

So, I got few hardwood installer to quote me prices, except one said that the old / existing hardwood should be completely removed then installs the new one, the other two said the new hardwood can go directly on top with a felt paper and nail down method (the sub-floor is wood base).

    My question is that:

    1. New Hardwood floor directly on top of the existing one, is that possible or the installer being lazy about removing the old?

    2. Pros and Cons about new hardwood on the old hardwood floor?

  • 1999 Subaru Legacy Starter not working?

I bought a starter from local autoshop. It is manufactured by WorldWide (Remanufactured).

After approximately 90 days (around 8k, I drove the car alot for delivery), the starter suddenly had the grinding sound, it is like the gear won't engage to the engine or it rotated itself on something.

My friend told me use a socket to hit the backside of the starter, then it worked. I thought the starter won't give up that easily. The OE part by Denso had lasted probably 7-8 years (with around 120k on it). ??

Should I purchase a new one from Denso or keep using the remanufactured starter? It will be easy to replace it, but it took me 2 hours to take out the bolts....

Please let me any advises, should I replace it or get the new one because it is still under warranty?

  • How can renter pay the last month electricity bill?

The renter is moving out in about 30 days. However, I am wondering how can I make sure that the renter will able to pay the last bill (For example, he moves out by the end of 9/15, and how can the electricity company ask him to pay the 8/15 to 9/15 bill)?

Do I keep the deposite and pay for it and return/refund all the remaining funds to the renter?

I live in Virginia and currently Dominion is the electric provider.
