  • 2003 F150 4.6 v8. Lean/rich both banks, strange idle problem?

    Hey guys,

So this truck has about 200,000 miles, mostly highway miles. The problem started when my dad thinks he put bad gas. It started to idle low and sometimes the engine would die on stop lights, and the engine light turned on. Since then he's refilled the tank a few times from Shell gas. The first thing we did was to replace the fuel filter (it was very dirty and could barely blow through it, but this did not remedy the problem. I had the codes read and found codes: P0171 and P0174. My dad replaced the idle air control valve, after this a strange idle problem started happening. If the engine is on idle and you just slightly tap on the gas pedal and let off, the engine revs up to 2000 rpm and stays there for about 5 seconds then it drops back down kinda low and rough. and it will rev up like that randomly at idle. Also, if you are at a stop in Drive, and let go of the brake the engine idles at about 1200 (without pressing the gas pedal). We put the old IAC valve back on thinking it was a bad part, but the old valve is doing the same thing too. I check the vacuum lines and all are connected and hoses are good, not dry rotted or anything.

I dont just want throw a bunch of parts/money at it so I want to narrow it down some so I can replace correct part. The spark plugs were replaced last summer, I think they should be still good.

I am kinda thinking the fuel injectors are plugged or something, since the bad gas but not sure.

Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.

  • How much is your health insurance?

Currently my wife has insurance through her job. This Friday will be her last day, though, and we will get insurance with my job as she will be a stay-at-home mom.

At my job it will be $740 a month for myself (32), my wife (29) and our daughter (15 months) for health, dental and vision. We live in Houston, TX.

    details:

    -Cigna PPO

    $1500 individual, $3500 family deductible

    -$20 copay

I tried to apply for obamacare but i cant get it because my job offers insurance and i cant get subsidy because my job pays for portion of the health care and household-income will more than 70,000 in 2014.

    What do you guys pay?

  • Why does Floyd Mayweather Jr hate Bob Arum?

Obviously I know he started his own promotion company. Why does he refuse so much to do business with Arum? I've googled it with no luck on finding answers to this question. I'm assuming some kind of bad business deal between the two. But just interested as to really why.

    Thanks Everyone.

  • Replacing valve cover gasket on 2007 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder?

The spark plug closest to the timing chain (passenger side of vehice) has oil in it. When I take the spark plug boot from the top of the cover, i cant see the spark plug because it has alot of oil in it. This is the only spark plug this is happening to. This normally happens because the valve cover gasket is bad and leaks oil.

Anyway, upon inspection of the upcoming job I will have to do this weekend on this car( my mom/s), I noticed that one of the valve cover bolts is under part of the motor-mount bracket-thingy. Im thinking I may have to rent an engine holder or maybe just put some wood blocks underneath to take out the motor mount bracket to be able to take the valve cover off. Any tricks to this to make this easier?

    Thank you

  • Cry it out or other method?

    http://www.babycenter.com/0_baby-sleep-training-cr...

My wife and I have a 7 month old baby girl (Victoria), she is a really good little girl, not very fussy throughout the day or cries very much. But when it's bedtime, its a different story. My wife breastfeeds her on our bed and sometimes our baby will fall asleep that way. You can tell when she is getting sleepy because she'll rub her eyes and sometimes whimper. When my wife breastfeeds her she doesnt always fall asleep afterward, she will often start crying and screaming right after her feeding and then it is difficult to put her to sleep. I will often leave the bedroom so my wife can be alone with the baby on the bed to try to put her to sleep, and I can see/hear my wife struggling on our baby video monitor.

My wife does not want to try the cry-it-out method, but I'd like to try it.

    http://www.babycenter.com/0_baby-sleep-training-cr...

    o. I've heard good and bad things about it and would like to see if this is a good thing for us to try. I am open to try different things as long as they are healthy physically and mentally for our little girl.

Any advice on methods that you've tried and succeeded at? Please help and any advice is welcome.

    Thanks

  • How do I get iPod out of disk mode?

I put it in disk mode to be able to back up mp3's to my Linux computer. But now I dont know how to get it out of disk mode. When I do a "safely remove" the iPod, it says "Ok to disconnect". I disconnect it but it still says disk mode. How do I get it off disk mode? according to Apple Support page it says to "Reset" it to get out of disk mode. I'm not sure if they mean reset to factory settings (which i do not want to do, i dont want to lose my music) or it means to reset to regular mode.

    Please help.

  • Can previously frozen meat be thawed and re-frozen?

We did the groceries on Tuesday evening and put meat in garage freezer. I didnt go back in garage til last night (Wednesday) to take out trash and saw a dark reddish brown streaks going down the fridge door. When I got closer to look I saw the fridege door was cracked open about an inch. it was blood from one the meat packages. This was late last night and i was really tired so i just closed the freezer and went to bed. This morning i checked the meat and it was all frozen. its was chicken thighs, breast, fajita meat, pork chops, and tilapia fillets. Is this meat still ok?

  • How do I convert a PowerPoint 4.0 file?

We have some old PowerPoint files that were created in 2000 on PowerPoint 4.0. We are using Office 2010 products currently. When you try to open the file it gives error message. But when you try to open the file in PowerPoint 2003 it will open normally. I know that Office 2003 products are backwards compatible with office files created in earlier office suites. Is there a way that I can view these files in PowerPoint 2010? converting or some other method?

    Please help if you can.

  • Move out of Houston, Tx?

I'm 30, my wife is 27 and 7 months pregnant with our first kid. I work for an oil company in IT and my wife works for the city of Houston in the water district. we make about 100k a year together.

We are thinking of getting out of Houston for a few reasons. Well we actually live in Spring but its pretty much attached to Houston. This is such a ginormous city.

I drive 60 miles a day round trip to work and back, my wife about the same. We both have 4 cylinder vehicles for the reason of high gas prices, but still expensive to have to fill up all the time. Just about everywhere you want to go, you have to drive a ways.

There is sooo much crime here all the time. I mean you cant even turn on the news without hearing about robberies, murders, violence. I live in a nice part of town, too. You just cant escape it here. 2 weeks ago 4 guys robbed a store and got chased by police. They went to my parents neighborhood and hid in my parents backyard! There was helicopters and like 25 police cars and K9 units running through my parents yard. One of the guys started shooting at the police and they fired back and killed the guy. It was all over the news! Just today a similar situation happened in my neighborhood. Jesus Christ!

I know anywhere you go there is going to be crime. But I also know that in smaller towns there is a lot less violence, crime, traffic, pollution, over-population, and all the things that come with living in big cities.

My wife and I are thinking of moving to somewhere else in Texas. Like a smaller town like Bastrop, Brenham those kind of smalller cities. Anyone in smaller towns can put their opinion in please. I really dont want to raise my daughter in this big city. What small town do you know of that would be good to look at? What are advantage/disadvantages are to moving to small city coming from Houston. I was born and always have lived in Houston.

Thank you for all comments and feedback.

  • Baby stroller travel system grows with baby?

Our first baby is due early June and we are in the market for baby stuff. I'm reading reviews on car seats, and we think we would like to get a stroller travel system for the convenience.

    My question is:

Once our baby outgrows the infant seat, is there another baby seat that will fit into these strollers? I'm kinda confused about that. In the videos I've seen about these strollers, a 2 or 3 year old is shown riding in the stroller without the baby car seat. So what does the baby ride in in between infant and 2 years old? is there another car seat that i need to buy that will attach to the stroller?

This is one of the travel systems we are looking at.

  • Which DHA supplement do you recommend?

I am 29 yrs old and have trouble concentrating and staying focused sometimes. I often forget things I'm supposed to do and forget where I put things. I admit that I do eat a lot of crap and dont pick the healthiest foods. I am not fat, maybe like 15 lbs over weight. I work in IT so I'm sitting for many hours a day. My wife and I are going to start jogging at the local park. I think these things will help with my memory and concentration a little along with my overall health, but I also want to be able to boost my memory and my brain health a little bit more. I have been reading up on Omega3 and fish oils and stuff and it is supposed to help with brain health so I decided to try it for a while. The only thing is there is so many on the market I dont know which brand/kind I should try. Which do you know that work good and can recommend? I wanted something with a mid to high concentrate of DHA.

    Thanks

  • Do I need an aftermarket cpu cooler/fan for Intel i7-2600?

This machine is running Chakra Linux. I dont do any gaming, I basically use this computer for learning Linux and as an everyday compute, web surfing, email, streaming HD video, photo editing, word processing.

It has the fan/cooler that the processor came with, which is really small. I have not had any problems with the set up thus far.

  • Better air filter to reduce dust in house?

I usually just buy the cheaper air filters and change them once a month. It's just my wife and cat and me. We do live next to a busy street. My furniture always seems to have dust and cat hair. We clean with the Swifter dust things and they pick up the dust really well, but the next day there is dust again.

Can this have something to do with the cheap air filters? It's a one story house in Houston, Texas. The house was built in 2008. It's a brick house on slab cement foundation.

Any suggestions to help reduce the dust?

    Thanks

  • How to stream live video on my LAN?

I work at a church doing maintenance/soundboard/ and a little IT. Anyway, we will be having a very large mass in 2 months. Last year for this mass we had too many people and many people were standing throughout the whole mass. We were thinking about setting up a projector in our Youth room and have the overflow of people watch the mass from in there. Now the question is, How do we do that?

The cathedral building is a separate building from the Youth room that is about 50 yards apart. They are on the same local area network (LAN). There's no internet in the youth room but there is in an office in the same building. We have 100baseT cat5e wiring connecting it all. We have a non-network projector that has vga, hdmi, s-video connections.

How can i put this on my network to be able to see it in the youth room?

If anyone can give me some ideas, I would really appreciate it. or maybe point me to a helpful website.

    Thank you very much.
