My cousin works for a small beauty shop in a California mall. The owners say she can not sit down during the entirety of the shift (which can last 12 hours) unless she clocks out for a 15 minute break. They don't provide stools behind the counter but there are the beauty chairs and sofas for waiting clients. They have cameras up so if she sits down (or if any employee does) they call and ask her if she has clocked out, even when the shop is entirely empty. This isn't an issue of hygiene or cleaning chairs. Is this legal?

I've got a Dell Dimension 2350 and I was thinking about reusing it as a media center. Housing music and pictures and the like. I know the desktop caps at 1 GB RAM and I know I can get 2 TB hard drives for under $100. Now my dilemma is that I'm a techie nub and don't know if 1 GB RAM is close to reasonable for 2 TB of hard drive. Should I set my sights lower or can I get away with it? Will anything explode?

Disney had been the forerunner for 2d animation since the 50s. However, they've been pushing towards 3D animation since the 90s. With the recent live action flop, Mars Needs Moms, do you think Disney will reconsider going back to 2d animation? Why or why not?

I lived in this one bedroom apartment for 14 months, in CA.

The civil code says I shouldn't have to pay for wear and tear, painting and should leave the apt in the state that I got it in.

I did not insist on a move out inspection.

I left the place spotless. A lot cleaner than when I got it! And I have a good track record with apartments. My first landlord of 2 years gave me back my full deposit minus what it cost to clean the carpet, which was around $80, because he was 'shocked that it was so clean.'

This manager is charging me 375 for cleaning, 175 for carpet cleaning, 185 for painting (with 10 gallons of paint) and another 50 for replacing a window screen.

I did some research with local cleaners and it would have cost anywhere from $250-325 including carpets to clean my apartment. There was only carpet in the living room and bedroom and linoleum from the kitchen to the bathroom.

And then again, I shouldn't have to pay for 14 months of wear and tear! We scrubbed so much before moving out, I even cleaned the little dust spots where the blinds slip into their holders. The place was spotless.

I've sent a letter citing the legal code to get invoices and receipts, but he only sent me invoices that don't list hourly rates and time spent on the job. And no receipts. Especially for the paint. I sort of think he bought paint for the whole complex and just charged me the whole total. I called the paint store and one gallon covers 350 square feet. And by that estimate it should only have been about 3 or 4 gallons max to paint over the walls, if that was even necessary.

If anyone has any legal advice or personal experience that could help, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm not sure if this movie already came out this year or is coming out next year, but the preview started as a home video of a bunch of friends saying good-bye to some guy who got a new job or something. I think his name was Dave, not sure. But out of nowhere the lights go out, and it seems like there's an earthquake, everyone runs outside, and there's a lot of confusion. All of a sudden people start screaming and there are balls of fire in the sky and I think the head of the statue of liberty lands in the middle of the street. So, does anyone remember the name of the movie?
