Why is the content of the Downloads folder as opened by Firefox different?
I'm using Mozilla Firefox 4.0.1 on a net book running Windows 7.
When I open my account's Downloads Folder (i.e. C:\Users\Amiel\Downloads) by right-clicking the download in progress (or completed) and choosing "Open Containing Folder", the content of that is different from when I visit the Downloads folder normally (e.g. Computer > C > Users > Amiel > Downloads or through the 'Downloads' link/icon in my 'Favorites'). A lot of times my new download doesn't show up in the latter (via normal process) but it does in the former (via Firefox). I don't understand how this can happen when I check that they do have the same addresses.
I'm not sure if this helps but I also observed that when I use BitTorrent, sometimes multiple instances open when I add a new torrent. I can't understand how two BitTorrent interfaces/windows are open but their contents (the torrents listed) are different.
Thus when I restart the net book, the downloads are sometimes lost.
3 AnswersSoftware10 years agoAre the phases/states in these equations correct?
We're writing a paper on some experiments we did for chem lab. I just wanted to ascertain if I put the phases of matter for the reactants and products correctly:
Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + Mg (s) ---> Mg(NO3)2 (aq) + 2 Cu (s)
K2Cr2O7 (aq) + 4 H2SO4 (aq) + 3 H2O2 (l) ---> K2SO4 (aq) + Cr2(SO4)3 (aq) + 3 O2 (g) + 7 H2O (l)
2 Na2S2O3 (aq) + I2 (aq) ---> Na2S4O6 (aq) + 2 NaI (aq)
2 KMnO4 (aq) + 8 H2SO4 (aq) + 5 Na2C2O4 (aq) ---> 2 MnSO4 (aq) + 10 CO2 (g) + 8 H2O (l) + 5 Na2SO4 (aq) + K2SO4 (aq)
Also, the I2 in the third equation came from a solution labeled as "I2 in KI". Does that make it aqueous as well?
Thanks a lot for taking the time to leave your decent response!
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoWhy won't Limewire start on Vista?
I've tried to use Limewire and Bearshare on this computer running on Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001). I have Avira AntiVir, AVG Free and McAfee (originally licensed but it expired) installed. In addition, I have ThreatFire and Spybot Search-and-Destroy.
I'm not sure what really is preventing me from using such P2P clients (although BitTorrent is doing fine).
When I start Limewire Basic, it initially starts (I see it on Taskmanager running with some 5,000K) showing its splash screen, but soon terminates. It doesn't even take me to the main interface. Moreover, no security/antivirus software notifies me of Limewire being blocked.
What should I do to let Limewire work?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Thanks!

2 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoThe page numbers and equations on my MS Word Document are grayed. How do I undo that?
Notice in this screenshot (http://i35.tinypic.com/24b1ct3.jpg) that the page number on the upper-right and the equations in the body seem to have been highlighted with grey.
This isn't natural to me. Before they seemed just black text on white background. It doesn't cause me functional disability but I prefer it in the conventional way.
Does anyone know why this occurs? And more importantly, do you know how I can revert the settings back to the original?
By the way, I'm running on Windows Vista but using MS Office 2002 (I prefer this version than 2007).
Thanks a lot! ^_^ I'd very much appreciate decent answers.

I'm using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition and the MySQL version which comes with WAMPServer 2.0.

I've tried vbmysql.com but have a little trouble comprehending because of the lengthy articles. I don't want to do 'em all step-by-step but just need the syntax required and few samples. Please and thank you..=)
1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoInstallation Issues for Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition on Vista?
I've kept trying to install Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition (Web Install from http://www.microsoft.com/express/download/) on my computer running on Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.
The same error arises -- it faces some problem installing Microsoft .NET Framework v3.5 SP1. All the needed components have been automatically downloaded but in the installation process it gets stuck here.
I've already installed Visual Basic (same version) on my Tablet which runs on Windows XP. I don't understand why it doesn't install here on Vista. I've also attempted using the Program Compatibility Wizard and they don't work.
Perhaps an alternative I could do is to use Offline Install of Visual Studio 2008; however, I wish to use only Visual Basic.
Need help. Thanks a lot!
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoChemical Equilibrium and Le Chatelier's Principle?
We had an experiment in Chemistry with a procedure like this: http://www.usoe.k12.ut.us/curr/science/core/plans/...
I'm making my lab report and have a few questions. I found this equation...
Fe3+ + SCN- <-> Fe(SCN)2+
I'd like to know if FeCl3 breaks down into Fe3+ and Cl- when in water, and does KSCN break down into K+ and SCN- also when dissolved...
Also, what role does KCl play in this experiment? Perhaps if it breaks down into K+ and Cl-, they counteract the Fe3+ and SCN-?
OR..is this what happens in the experiment instead?
FeCl3 + 3 KSCN <-> Fe(SCN)3 + 3 KCl
1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoHow do I properly use "cc:" (courtesy/carbon copy) and should I alter the other pages?
I've been instructed to write a letter to two chiefs of departments in school. We have a proposal that needs to be approved by both heads.
The content of the letters is basically the same so I thought of using "cc:" which I know is put at the end of the letter.
In the copies, should I change the addressee and the "cc:" recipient to fit the situation? Or should I create an exact copy of the previous?
From what I've read, you simply make a copy of the previous, but I don't think that's what's best for this situation. So should I create two seemingly different letters addressed to different people with the same content and w/o "cc:" then?
Also, should I put an "Approved" portion at the bottom for them to sign or should I simply give a letter then?
2 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWhat should we operationally define for our study on the hygiene of males and females?
We're conducting a mini-study to determine which sex/gender is more hygienic: males or females.
We define hygiene as flushing the toilet after use, hand washing after use of the rest room and hand washing before eating a meal.
What else are we to define operationally and if you could, kindly give us an idea. Perhaps male/female should be defined? If so, how?
By the way, we've finished conducting a survey, interviews and doing naturalistic observations already.
Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerPsychology1 decade agoLooking for Free Webhost that supports PHP, SSI, free MySQL Databases and has NO ADS?
I'm looking for a free web hosting service that supports PHP and allows Server Side Includes (SSI). I'm only familiar with MySQL so I'm hoping that they provide at least one free MySQL Database.
Also, I hope that they don't have any forced ads.
Moreover, if it's possible, I hope that they only ask for your desired username/password and e-mail ad. I don't like them asking about my personal information especially address.
I found and tried out HostRator which was okay but when I added session_start() and header(Location: '') functions, I think there was some conflict.

3 AnswersComputer Networking1 decade agoPhysics: In theory, will a ball bounce back to the same height it was dropped?
Say a ball is dropped from a height y. If the situation were perfectly elastic without any friction/air resistance, will the ball bounce back to y?
I tried to solve for this using the equations:
1/2 mv1^2 + mgy1 = 1/2 mv2^2 + mgy2
v^2 = v(o)^2 + 2gy
And I proved that it is so. I just wanna make sure..
----
Also, if the same ball is put on top a more massive ball and dropped together, should the ball bounce higher? I believe so. And I also think that if their total mass is increased, the ball will also bounce higher.
Last question! Since the topmost ball bounces, will all the other balls below technically have zero velocity (stop)?

6 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoI-Worm/Bronotok.KR Virus?
My mom's laptop which runs on Windows XP is apparently affected with the I-Worm/Brontok.KR worm as identified by AVG Antivirus.
I tried to install antivirus software on the laptop but unfortunately, Brontok ceases practically any application to run making me unable to install such software.
Also, the Registry Editor and the Task Manager cannot be opened due to the virus.
Following the steps in http://antivirus.about.com/od/securitytips/a/fprot... (as suggested by http://antivirus.about.com/od/virusdescriptions/a/... but I'm stuck on step 2 since accordingly virus signatures for v3.0 are no longer provided.
How do I remove Brontok?
3 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoHelp! My firefox doesn't open.?
Well, it opens but after quite some time (a few minutes) which is quite exasperating.
When I choose to open Firefox, the alert box asking whether to "Restore Previous Session" or "Start New Session". After selecting, the box disappears and I expect the Firefox window to open. It doesn't though.
Looking at my Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL), I find "firefox.exe" in the Processes tab but it's not listed on the Applications tab.
It takes some time until the window shows up. I don't have this problem with IE.
Could this be perhaps related to the fact that our Internet connection is somewhat very slow right now? It takes me like forever to open a page!
3 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoHeats of Reaction Lab (particularly, heat of neutralization)?
We did this lab experiment :http://www.siraze.net/chemistry/sezennur/subjects/... Similar experiment: http://www2.ucdsb.on.ca/tiss/stretton/CHEM2/enthla...
For Part 2: Heat of Neutralization, we used only 10mL each of 1M NaOH and 1M HCl. How can that be applied in the calculations?
By the way, what is referred to in "solutions" in "mass of solutions" in the experiment?
Here's our raw data:
m(H2O) = 100g (100mL)
A. 7g NaOH
T(i): 28.5C
T(f): 29.5C
B. 1M HCl + 1M NaOH (10mL HCl + 10mL NaOH)
T(i): 32.5C
T(f): 39.5C
C. 22g NaOH + 100mL HCl
T(i): 26.5C
T(f): 45.5C
Chemistry1 decade agoAntivirus 2009: How to remove?
A software "Antivirus 2009" has been installed on our PC unintentionally. My cousin says it's because of a popup on a certain site.
How do I get rid of it? I also suspect that it brings along some threats. I'm satisfied with my AVG Free. I want to get rid of AV2009 because it keeps prompting to register it and keeps saying that you have to buy the license to keep you protected. It really doesn't do anything but annoy you saying that it detected threats (and lists them down).
Also, only after this software was installed, sometimes the PC says that a virus is trying to attack and it should be restarted. I suspect that this is because of this software.
How do I get rid of it?
6 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoH2O2 as Oxidizing and Reducing Agent -- equations?
How do I show that H2O2 is the oxidizing agent in a reaction with KI, H2SO4 and H2O2? The experiment involved adding drops of H2O2 to the mixture of KI and H2SO4 until it became reddish from the near colorless color.
2KI+H2SO4 --> 2HI+K2SO4
2HI+H2O2 --> I2 + 2H2O
(how do you show that H2O2 is the oxidizing agent in the second reaction?)
----
How do you show that H2O2 is the reducing agent when drops of it was added to the mixture of KMnO4 and H2SO4? Drops of hydrogen peroxide were added until the purple liquid mixture became colorless.
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoHydrogen peroxide and manganese (ii) sulfate yields..?
In a lab experiment, we combined H2O2 and MnSO4. We put a recently burnt match over the reaction and the matchstick glowed for a moment. That could mean that oxygen evolved from the reaction.
What then is the chemical equation for the reaction? I tried creating a chemical equation and came up with:
H2O2 + MnSO4 --> Mn(HSO4)2 + O2.
But some claim it to yield H2SO4 and MnO2. The problem with this is that sulfuric acid is liquid, while manganese dioxide is a gas. There is no oxygen which may cause the glow.
