I've been working on PC's and Laptops independantly for over 5 years. I'm self taught, not A+Certified. I do it as a hobby I love. I'm always willing to help a friend out when they're "stuck" with a computer or printer problem.

  • HP OfficeJet G85xi All-in-one printer?

Got the printer from a friend. It was saying "Align Cartridges". Used a tip I got & held down 6 and # keys while plugging it in to reset it. Now it tells me the speed dial is empty. Just want to get the thing running right. Have fixed my other Hp printer, but this problem is a new one. Any suggestions?

  • A tumor on my cat's back?

My 8 year old cat has a lump on his back the size of a grapefruit. I took him to the vet about it a couple of months ago. The doctor told me it was a tumor and needs to be removed. He said a specialist will have to do it. He also guestimated it would cost $500-$600 to have it removed. My husband & I do not have that kind of money. Tuffy's not in any pain, just has this huge lump. I asked the doctor if he could test for cancer. He said he would have to do a biopsy after surgery. I told my husband all about it, but he's reluctant to spend that kind of money on Tuffy. I need to know if anyone out there knows anything about tumors. It began as a hard knuckle on his right shoulder. It took months to grow. When I took him in months ago, they drained some of it. It's all fluid. And it's very swollen. I just wish it would pop. And, I'm very concerned about Tuffy, but I don't have the money to have it removed. What can I do to help my baby out? And no, I don't want to have him "put down".

  • How do I move all files from old hard drive to new hard drive?

I'm taking the old hard drive out of my 6 year old WINXP computer and putting another one in. I have done it before, but I've never had to transfer all the files, setting (including Windows Updates) to another Hard Drive. I've seen a tech at a friends home hook up the new hd, then, using the 2nd set of hookup connectors from the cables to transfer everything. But, he had to take the tower into the shop because it wouldn't work. Is there something else that needs to be done? I'd really like to get this done this week, if possible.

I do tech work on the side, but, as I stated, I've never had to move all programs, files, settings and updates before. I have saved settings and files to CD just in case. But, I'd really like to spend less time transfering everything. Have been told there's a free software progam to use to do it. Or I'd need a PC to PC file transfer cable. Which way would be easier and faster?

  • How do I transfer settings & docs to new HD? I'm replacing the old one. Have replaced HD's b/4 but not files.

I have replaced multiple HD's in other peoples PC's & Laptops. But, have never had to transfer files, settings and OE emails. I need to know, step by step, walk me through how to do that.

I don't want to have to go through downloading a hundred Windows Update files, and, taking all of my documents from CD and manually installing them.

Am replacing the HD due to being almost full. It's 6 years old. And yes, I do Free Lance techie work. No, not A+Certified. Am pretty much self taught (God taught). I'll be doing the replacement within the next 30 days.
