Is there a good way to get my pace right for running?
Here s the deal. I have a marathon in 11 weeks. I want to finish the marathon in about 4 1/2 hours, so I want to average about 6 MPH. And I ve been preparing. In the cold winter months, I ran on my treadmill. I ran 6 miles per day at 2 degrees incline for 2 months. I m now on a specific marathon schedule. I ran for the first time outside today. The schedule said 4 miles, so I ran 4 miles today. Easy math says it should take 40 minutes. But here lies the problem. There are no exact milemarkers on my country roads. So I ended up running 4.2 miles. But the problem was that I ran that far in 30 minutes. That computes to 8.4 miles per hour. There s no way I could maintain that pace for an entire marathon. So I know the basic advice is just "slow down," but is there anyway for me to be sure I m running at the pace that I m aiming for.
2 AnswersRunning5 years agoApplying for West Point?
I m a junior in high school. My ***. GPA is 3.99. Haven t taken an ACT/SAT yet. My counselor took me aside and asked me about joining one of the military academies (West Point/Naval Academy/Air Force). She stressed that I have good morals, don t do anything illegal, and am very gifted mentally. She also said it would get me a free college education. And she mentioned that people going straight to West Point don t do basic training. First, I m wondering if someone can verify all of that. And 2nd, I have some questions.
1. How hard is the physical training/requirements? Running wise, I should be good. I run marathons and am running all the time. That should be fine. But I m worried about the strength portion. What would be a good training regimen to prepare for that?
2. I know I d be registered military after this, but what are the chances of getting deployed? And am I in anyway obligated to attend drills one weekend a month (my sister is National Guard, and she has to.)? I wouldn t mind it, but I m just wondering.
6 AnswersMilitary5 years agoChances of getting accepted into an ivy league college?
I haven't taken an ACT/SAT yet. My PSAT/NMSQT score was 1360, 740 in math and 620 in reading/writing. I've taken the hardest courses possible in my school, except for foreign language, which I couldn't because I take Vo Ag and am involved heavily in FFA. My cumulative GPA is 3.99 right now. Is there a chance I can get in. All the e-mails I'm getting from those colleges are annoying me right now. I wouldn't actually go (they're expensive), but just getting accepted would be cool.
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)5 years agoNational Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test Score?
I was wondering what the cutoff might be for getting the scholarship. I scored a 1360. I got 740 in math and 620 in reading. And then it's broken down into 30 in reading, 32 in language, and 37 in Math. Are these good scores? And even if I didn't get the NMSQT, would I be open to other scholarships? Or does it even matter? I'm in North Dakota if that matters.
1 AnswerFinancial Aid5 years agoCould I graduate while on foreign exchange?
I m really interested in doing foreign exchange. But here s the main thing I m wondering. I m a junior right now (in the United States). If I went to a foreign high school, would I be allowed to graduate there, and then move onto college the next year? Or would I have to go back and do my senior year in America? I m assuming it depends on the country and school, but it d be even harder selling this to my parents if I had to go back and finish here. It s already seeming like an impossible task trying to convince them. And the deadline for many programs get closer and closer.
2 AnswersStudying Abroad5 years agoI want to go to an engineering college in Canada?
I m looking at going to college in Canada. I m a junior now, so I have a little time. But I ve been looking at branching out from the US and going somewhere else. But I m wondering if there s any that fit this specific criteria
1. I m looking into Chemical or Biomedical Engineering.
2. Not too expensive (less than 25,000 a year maybe?)
3. Acceptance. I have a 3.98 cumulative GPA (1 A-) and I haven t taken an ACT, but I m assuming my score will be between 27-33. I haven t taken foreign language classes (I took VoAg), but I have/will take all the toughest science/math our school has. I also have 1 credit of choir if that makes a difference.
I guess that s mainly it. I ve found quite a few colleges like that in USA but I m just wondering if I have the same options in Canada.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)5 years ago1997 Ford F350 overdrive question?
I have a 1997 ford f350 with an auto transmission. On the column shifter, there is a button for overdrive. And there are the words "off."
When the word "off" is lit up, does that mean the overdrive is off? That s what I thought, but a friend (who owns a 92 f150 with the same trans) says that when the word is lit up, the overdrive is on. I just want to be sure that I know what s going on.
4 AnswersFord6 years agoWhat kind of a rear end and gear ratio came in a 1976 Chevy K10?
I need a new rear end. It has a 350 engine right now, but it originally came with a 400. It has a TH350 3 Speed Automatic Transmission.
2 AnswersChevrolet6 years ago1976 Chevy K10 Brake problem?
Here we go again. I have my 1976 Chevy K10. The brakes were bad so I started to repair them. In the front, I replaced the pads and bled them and they ran fine.
In the back, I replaced the cylinders, the shoes, and the drums, and bled it. The rear right side then worked fine. The rear left did not.
I then fixed one weaker spring. It still didn t work. I then talked to an expert, who suggested the axle. He was right, the axle had lost its oil and the bearing was completely worn through and do to that, the axle was worn down. I replaced both the axle and the bearing and seal. It still rubbed less, but if you drove multiple miles, the heat was evidently there.
Are there any steps left for me to take? Could getting a different rear end from a junkyard make a difference? I m slowly running out of options.
3 AnswersChevrolet6 years agoDecal code on title. What does it mean?
I have a 1976 Chevy k10 pickup. On the title to my pickup, there's a box that says "Decal." In that box, it says "1207." I want to decode that and find out what it means, but I have no idea where to find something that decodes that? Anyone have a site that does that or just know it off the top of their head?
1 AnswerChevrolet6 years agoWhat trim model is my 1976 Chevy K10?
Okay I asked this same question a while back, but more info has emerged. It says "Scottsdale" on the interior. It says "Cheyenne" on the exterior.
But here's the new curveball. I was looking at buying replacement trim for my pickup, and I noticed something. The actual trim is from the "Silverado" trim package.
So what would it be? Is it a Scottsdale because that's what the interior said? Is it a Cheyenne because that's what the exterior said? Or is it a Silverado because that what's the actual trim is?
2 AnswersChevrolet6 years agoWhat kind of engine can a 1976 Chevy k10 support?
It currently has a 350. But I was wondering if I could put a 400, 454, or a Duramax in it. Can the frame support bigger engines like that?
5 AnswersChevrolet6 years agoCan an old pickup get a new radio and have Sirius XM on it.?
I am still restoring my 1976 Chevy k10. The radio doesn't work on it right now. And even if it did, I probably would've upgraded it. I was looking at some nice, new radios that have usb ports and stuff like that on Amazon. But here's my 2 problems.
1. Would I have to have somebody update my wiring so my pickup could hook up with that radio?
2. Is there some kind of antenna that I would need to buy so I could get Sirius XM in my pickup?
2 AnswersCar Audio6 years agoCan you put nice, new gauges in an old vehicle?
I am in the process of restoring an old 1976 Chevy K10 Scottsdale. In a month or so, nearly every mechanical thing should be done and it should run right. The next part is accessorizing it. New paintjob, radio, sound system, doors, seat covers, etc.
I was wondering if I could replace my old gauges with the cool looking new ones that you see today. But I also would have to overhaul that whole section, because all I have is round sections for each gauge. And is this possible, and if it is, how expensive is it looking?
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years ago1976 Chevy K10 Brake question?
Okay here we go: The driver s side rear drum brake isn t releasing. If I drive it for even 1/2 of a mile the drum gets very hot. I took it to the shop, and at first they couldn t find anything (which I know isn t true.) Later, they said they thought it was either the axle bearing or the whole axle itself. Could either of those be the cause of the rubbing?
And is there anything else that could be the problem? I ve replaced the cylinder, shoes, drum, and 1 of the springs that was loose/worn out. I ve also bled the brake and made sure the shoe lengths were right. I did the exact same thing on the opposite brake and it worked fine. I also replaced the pads on my 2 front disc brakes and that worked. It s just this 1 rear brake that is giving me fits at the moment.
7 AnswersChevrolet6 years agoWhat would the trim package be on my pickup?
I have a 1976 Chevy K10. Right above the glovebox (on the inside), it says "Scottsdale." But then there s this. On the metal emblem on the outside of the vehicle by door it says "Cheyenne." Which would most likely be correct. The title doesn t say what trim it has, it only says "K10." Which would it more likely be. It has two-tone paint, in case that helps.
3 AnswersChevrolet6 years agoCan you have a flatbed on a half ton pickup? And if you can, how heavy could it be?
I have a 1976 Chevy K10 Cheyenne. It has a 5.7 (350) V8 engine on it. I want to put a flatbed on it. How much could the flatbed weigh? Could I use steel? Or should I use aluminum? And how long/wide should it be? I was thinking 8' long x 7' wide. Any other recommendations?

Okay so I was messing with the pistol that I listed above. The spring and the guide rod flew out and I couldn't find the guide rod. So I replaced the guide rod with a screw. And it fit and the gun reattached just fine. But the screw is sticking out the front. Is this ok? And will the gun still work?
