How to get people for a party?
I am moving into anew place in the city and want to have a party. The problem is that most of my friends have moved away either to different countries or too far away to come over the past year. Long story. The friends that have stayed don't know that many people. How can I get people to come or make some friends to invite? I don't want to invite randoms that will trash my place but I only have a few friends left in the country.

Yahoo really needs a clear warning on every page saying that this is not the place to post medical questions in emergencies.

Is there a way I could hook up my PC to a treadmill so that I can play a PC game with a wireless controller or something while exercising? I would want to keep a constant speed/calories/hr and if this speed drops, i should get a warning and the game should pause if I go too slow
3 AnswersVideo & Online Games7 years agoMy dog started growling.?
We have a siberian husky and a large yard. Over the last month the husky has started running away when we open the gate to drive out. BHe used to not run away when I walked him enough so I thougt he did it because I didn't walk him enough, but graually he as started to run even if I walk him that day an he gets tired.
Usually when he runs away, I follow him in he car and he goes along the route that I normally walk him. At the end, he gets into the car or I get out and grab him when he's tired of running around, I tell him off and he pulls to either get into or unde the car and I drive him home. Today, he ran away, I caught up with him in the car and I turned around to go home. He usually waits for the car but he just kept going. I wentdown the route I usually walk him and found him about 2/3rds of the way down. He kept runing and didn't follow the car this tme but went into a neighbours yard where I followd him and he was at a dead end. I called him, he came up to the car, I got out, grabbed his collar and started telling him off.
Usually when I do this he just pulls to get into or under the car but this time he started pulling to get under the car and started growling at me loudly like e was going to bite me. I shook him by the collar and growled back at him and told him off som more (must have been quite a sight for our neighbour). I got him into the ar and he rode home on the floor instead of on the seat like he usually does so I think he knew he did something wrong (u
2 AnswersDogs7 years agoHow do I return bought ebay game?
I bought a PC game on ebay. When I opened the box, the game had no CD key in it. I contacted the seller and opened a dispute with paypal. The seller told me that he is sorry but he didn't know that games require a CD key and that I can either leave him negative feedback or post the game back for a refund. The problem is it's a $10 game (worth $30-70, I got it for $10) and the postage to post it back would be $5 to 10.
Am I responsible for returning the game/item to the seller if he sent me a faulty item? (Do I need to send him back the game to get a refund or can I just proceed with the paypal dispute?)
2 AnswersPC7 years agoHow to get a job when there are none?
I looked on all the job websites and the only jobs available are "entrepreneur opportunities" and "commission only" jobs.
I handed out over 100 resumes and nothing. A lot of places told me they'd love to hire me but since it was january, they were firing their Christmas casual staff and were overstaffed and told me I should try around march. Tried again around march and there's even less places hiring. When I went handing out resumes before, I'd get a few calls after a while, but this year, nothing.
My resume is fine, I've had people look at it and edited it. I've tried several styles to see if changing it would work.
I have work experience. I have work experience in marketing, sales, and retail (around or over a year total at each).
My qualifications are fine. I have qualifications in IT and marketing and conflict resolution and am bilingual.
My references are fine. In my last job, the manager/owner came up to me on the last day and asked for my number so he could call me if anything came up because I was reliable and did a good job. During my last job, I saw one of my managers from my previous job and she came up, had a chat and suggested we swap numbers because she might have some work coming up and needs people that are good at what they do. So I'm guessing my past employers are happy with me and not giving me crappy references.
3 AnswersLaw & Legal7 years agoCan I use this as evidence in QCAT?
My housemate refuses to give me back my bond. She also got another $80 out of me by threatening to keep my bond. Now she has kept the $80 and the bond. I think This is most like going to end up in QCAT so I'm wondering what I can use for evidence.
I moved into the room which I rented from my housemate who was the main tenant in the house. This housemate was the sole tenant on the tenancy agreement as the housemate did not provide a written tenancy agreement for me to sign.
Electricity was originally agreed to have been included in my rent. We had an agreement that if the electricity usage was excessive, I may have to pay more.
My housemate has forced me to pay her an extra $80 by threatening to keep my bond. She also has at one point claimed that I owe her money for the NEXT electricity bill and refused to give me back my bond. (even though I didn't live there any more). I also felt I had to pay her the money because she had the capacity to lock me out of the house (she never gave me the key to the house security doors or the main gate and she eventually did lock me out). I would like this money back. Our original agreement was that my weekly payments included electricity, and I only paid her because of the threats.
I worded the SMS mesage to her as follows:
"First of all, the rental agreement we live under is I pay you $130 per week with bills included. I still have the ad you posted on gumtree in case you forgot. As for my girlfriend staying over, she only stayed over like 3 or 4 nights a week tops, and I asked if that was ok before I moved in. I know because I was only there 4 or 5 nights a week myself. Its not like she lived there.
My girlfriend has been over a couple of nights more often the last 2 weeks and that's why I'm giving you the extra $80. Plus she's only been over more because we have been going out job hunting and we hadn't seen each other as I've been gone for 3 weeks which btw means I hadn't been using electricity during that time but still been paying for it as part of my rent.
And as far as the usage goes, the bill says our usage has been way less than the average 2 person household. The electricity usage has been 13.79kWh which is between what 1 and 2 people would normally use, which means we hadn't used too much electricity in the first place. Like I said, I am going to pay you the extra $80 because my gf has stayed over a few extra nights the last couple of weeks, but you can't expect to charge someone for electricity in their rent, and then make them pay for it again by making them split the bill. As for the cleaning, don't worry, I will leave the place cleaner than how I found it. I will try to get the place cleaned earlier incase you have people over to inspect a room. I will be out by Saturday the 1st of February, as agreed."
but really, i didn't want her to lock me out and keep my bond and sell my stuff on ebay so I paid her.
The electricity bill (see attachment "Electricity Bill Page 2.jpg") shows that the electricity usage was actually LOWER than the usual usage for a 2 person household so there is no reason for her to be asking for extra payment. Regardless, our agreement was that electricity was to be included in the rent and she shouldn't be charging me based on electricity usage unless my room is metered.
A few days before I moved out, my housemate did an inspection of the room, while I was away, without notifying me at all first. She noted a patch of peeled-off paint about the size of a 50 cent coin. The plaster is not damaged, just the paint has come off. The walls in the room had many similar marks and nails in the walls when I moved in.
The bit of missing paint I made is fair wear and tear which occurs in the normal use of the room. I offered to fix it up and told her that I would prefer to do it myself. My roommate did not let me and actually prevented me from doing so by limiting my access to my room in the final days of moving out. At one point I had to sleep at my girlfriend's house, because my roommate had "people viewing the room" all day. She locked me out the day before I was supposed to move out.
I received a message for my housemate saying that she has returned $330 of my bond and kept $150 to paint a wall. The message contained a quote for $150 for painting, PLASTERING and labour. My housemate has had the entire wall painted and deducted the full cost from my bond. That tiny bit of missing paint I made is clearly normal wear and tear and I think she has no right to charge me, especially to paint the entire wall. It is about the size of a 50 cent coin and the plaster was NOT damaged so obviouls she had other damage fixed. I have photos I took before moving in which show that there were nails and other marks on the same wall, which I did not make but which my housemate has charged me to fix.
1 AnswerRenting & Real Estate7 years agoCan someone reccomend an internet security program.?
I am looking for an internet security program that manages my PC Automatically. I know Norton is full of bugs so there is no need to mention that.
The reason I chose norton is because, other than providing internet security and anti-malware, it also backs up files, defragments the hard drive and cleans the registry. Rather than having to do this myself and keep the computer on for hours, Norton performs these tasks automatically when it senses the computer is being unused. When I start using the computer again, norton puts these tasks on hold (or so they claim) so my computer is not slowed down when I'm using it.
I do not mind if I have to pay for the antivirus software, but norton has a bug with the online backup which instead of backign up my files, gives me an error saying I am not signed in, so I am looking for a new antivirus.
I need an antivirus which
-has internet security and can protect while doing online shopping and downloads (including torrent downloads)
-has antivirus
-has antimalware
-cleans registry automatically
-scans PC automatically
-defragments the hard drive(s) automatically
-backs up files automatically (although this is optional, i can just get another program to do this)
-cleans my PC automatically
-puts tasks such as scans, backups and defragments on hold when I am using my PC and resumes them when I am not
Essentially, I am looking for a security program which I can put on my family PC which will maintain it while I am away, without input from me.
BEfore you suggest this, I do know I can run several programs for this in tandem, but this in an i5 CPU so I don't want to be running too many programs in the background slowing it down. I think a single program for everything would use less PC rewsources and have less errors
