could someone please give me some help on this question?

The value of the term in the expansion of (x-(1/x))^8 which is independent of X?

Could you possibly explain how you got to your answer as I want to know how to do it for future reference.

I am in Year 11 and I go to one of the best comprehensive schools in the UK. I thought I was always good at maths. The school had sent me to various maths competitions around the country and I was even invited to a special maths day at Cambridge university. They had always expected me to do really well in my maths GCSE and get an A* without any problems, they were so sure in fact that they entered me a year early.... The thing is is that I didn't get an A*.... I barely scraped into an A...

I spent the whole summer trying to convince myself that an A wasn't so bad. Hey, I could hopefully still fulfil my dream of becoming a commercial pilot.

That was until last week when I got back to school. I got taken aside by the head and she gave me a massive lecture about how I had disgraced the school with my poor result and how I hadn't put any effort into getting the best that I could. She told me how I clearly didn't put any effort into revising for the exam and that I simply didn't care.

None of that is true...I spent 1.5 hours every night for a month before my exam revising. I really did try and I even thought that on the day of the exam it went quite well. I am quite unhappy with my result and I feel even worse knowing that I have failed the school. I hate the fact that every maths lesson I get reminded about this by my teacher. It's really getting me down and I'm so worried about this happening in my other exams.

What can I do?

I'm thinking of getting a henna tattoo saying 'Children of the Bad Revolution' on my forearm. I have had henna before but it only lasted about a week (I was wearing a wetsuit for four days and it rubbed against my ankle where I had the henna, this is probably why it faded so quickly.) so I was wondering if there is a way to make natural henna last longer?

I know that henna is traditionally a religious thing to get so I was wondering if people would find it offensive if I had anything other than the traditional patterns. It's just that that phrase means quite a lot to me and the traditional patterns don't. If people were to find it offensive I probably wouldn't get it done. I hate it when people disrespect my culture so I don't want to disrespect theirs.

Also what do you think of the phrase? I might get it done as a proper tattoo if I still like it when I'm older.

hey!

a few months ago I got a few natural coloured feather hair extensions in my front bangs. I got them because I liked them, not because I care about the trend. I was the only person in my school who had them and people would always come and ask me questions about them ( they weren't ever a big thing in the UK so not many people know about them). Now there are at least 20 people in my school with them. This has annoyed me as now it looks like I'm just following a trend and am not at all original.

Is there anything I can do with my hair that will again be different and original? I can't do anything extreme as my school is having a mega fit about uniform and what not. I don't really want to dye my hair either as I like my natural colour. I have mid back length wavy strawberry blonde hair- It looks a bit like Lana Del Rey's hair on the cover of born to die..

So basically I'm 15 (although I have told him that I'm 17(don't judge, I thought it was going to be a one off chat)) and he is 21. We started to talk on kik just about small things like music and and our hobbies. Our conversation eventually got on to previous relationships and I told him about an abusive guy I had been with who was only with me until he found out that I was not going to have sex with him. This guy then told me that he would never treat me like that and that I was perfect. after chatting some more he started telling me how I was his perfect girl and how he wanted to marry me and he keeps asking me to marry him. He keeps saying how he wants to come to the UK to come and meet me (he lives in America) and it's starting to creep me out a bit. He told me about him being a virgin and how I am the only person he want to have children with.. He has started putting masses of hearts at the end of his messages and it's really creeping me out!!! what should I do??

So basically I am friends with this guy who told me he is asexual. I believe him and I am far closer to him than any other guy as I feel that I can just be myself without having to feel as though I am trying to impress him.

Recently he has started being really 'nice' to me, you know doing things like offering me food and walking with me to my next class even when he had to go out of his way. My friends all say that he obviously fancies me and I should stop hanging around with him in case he is lead on ( I do not 'like' him, I just see him as a really good friend)

I really do no know what to do. Do I trust him with what he has told me, or do I stay away and risk losing a good friend

Also my personality is quite flirtatious so I will laugh at people's jokes and smile at them but I do that to to everyone.

If he did like me I think I would be really hurt as he lied to me to get closer to me.

I am 5'7 and I weigh 130lb. I am looking to achieve the weight of about 115lb but also to add a bit of tone to my legs and bum. I eat around 1800 calories a day and I have quite a fast metabolism. I need to fine exercise which doesn't take too long as I have a busy lifestyle. So far I have chosen a exercise regime of:

*20min run (about 2.5k ish)

*15 squats

*Plank for 30 seconds (i know that that is more about abs but still)

*15 squats

*wall sit for 20 seconds (I find this really difficult)

*50 star jumps

so basically my question is is would this help me loose this weight and if so how long would it take if i were to do the run every other day and the other exercises every day?

oh and I also do 30k bike rides about once a week.

Ok so I would like to know

1. What colour to get. I am 14 with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. I personally don't like dark colours as I think they make the braces more noticeable on other people. Equally I don't like blue as I think it looks a bit strange in the mouth. I quite like baby pink although I hae been told that it goes orange.

2. I have had 4 extractions. Do they put anything extra on the braces to close the gaps?

3 . How much does it hurt afterwards? And how long will it hurt for?

hi , OK so as you can tell from the main question this is about make up brushes. so I only want to buy two brushes,one for powder foundation and one for eyeshadow. because of the small quantity I can afford to really high end ones. they are still quite expensive .. £50 they come to . I was wondering which ones to get as i have both channel and dior makeup and i cannot dispute on the quality... it is amazing! so i am really stuck on which ones to get?

p.s. I DO NOT WANT TO BUY AN ENTIRE SET OF BRUSHES>>> JUST TWO

hey i'm 12 and have yet not started my period...recently i hve been getting more and more discarge in my pants yet it smells rather 'fishy' its getting kida embarrassing and messing up my social life a bit... i was every day all of my body as well as 'down there' so i highly doubt its from poor hygine... so please could you help me with any tips or tricks towards this?

ok so im realy worried about getting braces in about 1 year because i dont really want the pain on all the metal and also if even a sppon or somthing touches my teeth it is just agony so plz what should i do - thjis also doesnt help that my orthodontist cant sppek very good english

ok so i was at school when i was taking stuff out the oven when my wrist accidentally touched the side so it left quite a substantial burn but anyway i put on some savlon antibacterial creme and put it in a bandage however a day after that when i took my bandage off to put on some more creme a pieve of the scabby blistery thing had got stuck on to it so it too out a chun about 1/2 cm by 1cm so i decided to leave it to dry out as loads of liquid came out aswell so now 6 days later it has finally developed a scab of which chunks keep coming out but reappering again so i have a strange peely scab which i can touch so i cant put on any creme either also round the edges there is a load of pin skin what may have been part of the burn

but anyway can you please help as im really struggleing

hi today at scool i was in food technolagy and i was taking my pizza out the oven (with gloves) when i accidentally touched my wrist on the edge of the oven and it burnt me about 1inch long and 1/4 of a inch wide and it really stings and i have judo in a few hours time can i shower and is there anything i can do to stop the pain?????

today around lunchtime as i was going to the changing rooms i fell on to paving slabs and cut i knees i didnt think much of it untill i was getting changed from p.e (gym) when i suddenly felt as if every thing was moving around me and my friend said i went really pale we told the teacher yet she did nothing then a couple of minuites later i mean my arm was always slightly hurting but i thoughtthis a was goin to fade away my arm was like ago y after i picked up my gym bag so all after noom i have been in this pain as i got home u put my arm in a sling made with a scarf which slightly eased the pain but it stl hurts what should i doplease amswer in in soo much pain and im only 11
