  • anyone know pressure tanks?

I understand how the tank works and why, and I know how to adjust it. the only thing I can't find an answer to is all tanks have a cut on and cut off psi, standards are 20-40 30-50 40-60. what happens if I set mine at 30-60 or even 20-60. in my head this would give you more drawdown and a longer pump cycle. I am on solar power so the less things turn on the better. I would like to get more drawdown. I would guess this would give you more fluctuation in pressure at the tap from cut in to cut out, but that is the only negative I can see in theory, and would you even be that dramatic over a whole cycle? anyone know why they are 20 psi cycles and what would be the reasoning for not wanting to increase it?.

  • anyone running a large fridge on solar?

Hey. I just bought an off grid solar system. I have ten 240 watt panels for a total of 2400 watts from the array. I have a magnum 4400 watt inverter with a max output of 8500 watts and 4400 watts continuous power. 8 surrett 530 AH batteries connected in series running 48 volts.

I am using a tristar 60 amp controller with mppt. on a good day the array should bring in up to 3 kw per hour with mppt, day light permitting of course. I have friends down the road who are on solar and they think running a fridge would tax the system. I feel I have lots of power. I am running a 240 volt well pump, but it is not on often or for very long. other than the fridge and well pump, my other usage is up to 5 13 watt lights at night and usually the radio, sometimes the tv.

does anyone run an 18 cf or larger fridge on solar and have any info they could share. the wattage of the fridge and the size of array and storage used to support it?

    thanks

  • spongy brakes on jeep xj?

I have an 89 xj (cherokee). it has a dana 35 on the front and a ford 8.8 rear diff so i have discs all around. I just replaced my pads front and back and now I have spongy brakes. no air should be in the system from a pad change, but i sucked out the fluid and replaced it, and bled the brakes until I got clean fluid through each caliper. this made them better than they were but the backs will occasionally lock on a hard brake and the fronts wont at all. sometimes the brakes go right to the floor and other times there is more pedal but always poor breaking and always spongier than they ever were.

Before the pad change my breaks worked great, I pulled out some fluid to make room when i squished the calipers back and left the cap off. I very slowly squeased in the first caliper and fluid shot out and soaked my hood. This has never happened any other time i have done breaks and all the rest went in and just filled the resevoir as usual. this is what promted me to bleed them in case that somehow let in air, as well as dirty fluid.

right now i cant pull off my tires to have a look to make sure everything is as it should be, but I have done breaks many times before with no issues and was confident in my work. Could I have blown the master? or is it possible this could happen from a sticky caliperor the brake booster? I got a few ok and straight stops out of the breaks, but most time i was pulling to the driver side.

    any ideas or similar experiences?

  • Any recipes for rice with smoked salmon?

Either a hot side dish or a cold rice salad.

I remember coming home and finding a rice and smoked salmon dish in the fridge when I was young. I tried it cold and it was amazing. I cant remember exactly what was in it, but I suddenly had a craving this afternoon. I could wing it and see what I get...but does anyone have a recipe or have you had something like this and remember what was in it?
