  • Verizon upgrade with used phone and no contract?

I am out of contract with verizon and want to buy a used clean phone on ebay. I have done this in the past by buying one of the same model I already have and it does not affect the time left on the contract or my plan. I have a really old plan that was grandfathered in. We only use phones as phones and cameras. No internet access etc. Yeah, We're from the dark ages, We don't text or have a data plan. Now i want to buy a different model than I have for one of my lines but don't want it to affect my plan since it is inexpensive. Will changing models raise a red flag with verizon and force a plan and contract change?

  • need help hooking up surround sound?

I have toshiba tv model cz27t31. I have an rca surround sound home theater system. My cable company (armstrong) has required us to have a digital adapter in order to watch any tv. The choices on the with the tv are tv/video. I can watch and hear dvds. The home theater system is hooked to the tv via the red/yellow/white cables. The only other connection on the back of the tv is where the cable goes in from the digital adapter. The digital adapter has a place to attach an optical cable. So does the surround sound. The problem is the optical cable will not plug into the surround sound. YES I took off the plastic tip covering the end. It simply falls out. What is supposed to hold it in? Am i not pushing it in far enough? Is something broken on the surround sound? All this would not be a problem if the tv had an hdmi port which it does not.

  • how do I reinstall a driver?

I have a refurbished dell with win 7. New it had XP. I bought a dell printer from someone that was still in the box. Never used, but older from 2006. When I tried to install it i had problems. The computer told me the driver was digitally unsigned. After trying to understand the dell site, I thought I had the right one installed from them. Next thing I know the CD/DVD player does not work and doesn't even show up under my computer. I uninstalled the printer and did a system restore. CD/DVD returns. Reinstalled the printer. Even printed something. Next day. CD/DVD player is gone again. Printer shows up under my computer but when i try to print message says there is no printer. Went to the dell site. Let them detect my computer and tried to email them. When I tried to submit it got an error page. Not sure if it went or not. Tried a system restore, unsuccessful. Uninstalled the printer. Uninstalled the CD/DVD driver. Restarted the computer, CD/DVD driver was not installed successfully after restart. Everything I have read tells you to go into the registry and remove upper and lower something or other and gives great detail. I am not comfortable doing this. I don't understand all that stuff and don't know what i am looking for. What else can i do? At this point all I want to do is reinstall the CD/DVD driver. I will figure out the printer part later.

  • Is there a wild version of black eyed susan?

I had a plant come up in an area where there weren't flowers, just mint. The leaves did not look like a weed but maybe a wild flower so I let it grow. It is 2-3 ft tall and has a main stem with branches coming off the sides all the way up and flowers that look like small black eyed susans. The leaves are similar to susans but smaller also. Is this a "wild" version?

  • how to acknowledge infant with medical issues?

A sales rep we deal with on at least a weekly basis was having a baby. We knew she had the baby but recently learned thru the sales rep taking her place that there are serious medical issues. This is not someone any of us socialize with but do see at industry events, etc. The person who we asked did not want to divulge much because he did not think it was his place to do so. We understand that. How do we express our concern for her and her child and family? Do we send flowers or what? I don't think you can call and leave a voice mail for that. Do we send a card? What kind? We don't want to ignore the issue.

  • How do coupon sites work?

I have signed up for lots of free coupon sites. One is shopathome. You had to download something and you end up with the shopathome symbol in one of the tool bars. When you click on it and go on the site it says there are thousands of coupons click here. So you do and it takes you to another site that wants your email and name again and offers more coupons. Then the same thing happens over and over as long as you keep signing up. But I never see these thousands of coupons. Its like you are going in a circle because you end up sooner or later back at shopathome.

  • How do I change the settings on a used computer that was given to me?

I have a computer that used to be part of the office network where I work. We got new computers and I was given one of the old ones to take home The IT guy set the new ones up as well as the old ones years ago. He is not in house. He comes out when we have an issue and we rarely see him. I can log on to this computer but don't have administrator rights since using the computer is not my main job. No one who currently works there knows anything. Most of them barely know how to use a computer let alone change any settings. Is there anyway for me to get into the user account area and make the changes I need to be able to change settings, etc and make this computer usable for myself?

  • What are they teaching in school?

I have been answering questions and can't believe the misspellings and poor grammar. I'm not talking abbreviations like in texting. If people don't know why don't they use spell checker? Oh wait a minute they don't even know they're wrong.

  • printing a pdf file on continuous paper roll?

I want to print a pdf file on a printer that has the pages attached to each other by perforated lines. The original file is all on one page. When I try to print it, it comes out on one page and you can't read it. How do I set it up for multiple pages? I tried reading about continuous roll printing but it got too technical for me. I tried page set up but its not giving me the same options as a word document.

  • What is on Debonair Lane now?

We used to go to the Indy 500 and stayed at the Red Roof Inn on Debonair Lane just off of Crawfordsville Rd right near the interstate exit. I was going to recommend it to someone and decided to check to make sure it's still a good place to stay. The last reviews were from 2009 and were really bad. Then I called Red Roof and found out its not even there any more. Can anyone tell me what is there? Is there a new motel or restaurant? Google maps still has the Red Roof and the Motel 6 on it. The apartments are gone in that photo. It was just the best spot to stay for the race. You could leave your car parked and walk to the track.

  • Does anybody else think this?

Are there a lot of illiterate people asking stupid questions or is it just me? Half of the time the spelling is awful ( use spell checker!). Are the schools that bad? Are the teachers that bad? Isn't anyone paying attention in school? I already know most people under the age of 40 can't count change at the store. Some of them can't even get it right when they enter the amount you gave them. Will there be anyone competent to lead the county in 20 years? Not that the ones now are doing it very well. Just asking.

  • Unemployment question?

I tried to collect unemployment once in Maryland and was told because I left my job voluntarily for another job and was then fired, I would have to work a new job for 90 days (one quarter) or the equivalent of a predetermined dollar amount that they let me know via mail. Now I am working in a business that was sold. It is still operating. If the new owners decided to lay anyone off before we had worked one quarter would we be able to collect unemployment or would unemployment consider us to be in a new job and require us to work a full quarter before we are eligible?

  • Why do my user accounts keep disappearing?

I have 4 user accounts on my computer. 3 are administrators. 2 of those are password protected. Only 2 people use this computer. The administrator accounts are because of past problems with the administrator account disappearing and keyboard problems where I could not log on because I could not type the password. I only use one of these accounts on a regular basis. I only use the other 2 if I need to. Recently within a 4 day period the 3 administrator account profiles have disappeared 2 times. I get them back by doing a system restore. What is going on??
