Banned from a group given labels, but few/no specifics, how can I prevent this from recurring?
In a men's support group I made a comment that a few members, whom I did not mention by name, had been silent about responding to my group chats, but very responsive to everyone elses.
For the last 3 months before that I kept my online messages short, but that one message was about 10 lines long. The members who had given me the silent treatment, one by one, showed up online and called me "confusing" and "antagonistic".
A counsel member then banned me from the groups online message board and asked to talk to me on the phone. He said I needed to learn how to be a more concise writer. I asked him what were some consistent examples of my inconciseness. He mentioned that single 10 line message and refused to find/note any others, however also admitted nothing I wrote in the 3 months before was nearly that long. I then asked, ok, say it really is such an important issue to the group messages be short, can he add it to the group rules if he really believes in it? He again refused. I responded "how is it fair to expect me, and apparently not others, citing several others who wrote long messages from time to time, to follow unwritten rules, then?". He admitted he did not want to promote double standards and then agreed to let me attend 5 offline group meetings after which I'd get my online privilages back.
Later, he banned me from the main group where offline meetings were announced.
Looking at the above, how could I have handled this in a more productive way?
2 AnswersLaw & Ethics8 months agoHow can one quickly counter someone mocking him/her for stumbling when overloaded with tasks?
For example, while signing a prescription and listening to my girlfriend ask about it at a pharmacy after she came from the ER I very quickly slightly coughed someone in line cut off my conversation with my girlfriend and yelled "You need to pay attention and cover your mouth, boy!"
In another situation, a woman approached me about how I learned to ride an/my electric skateboard and was stumbling for words at a point and another woman accused me of approaching her and started calling me an INCEL while a bystander/man jumped in and started threatening violence on me.
In such cases, how would you suggest standing your ground?
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 year agoWhat type of machine learning problem is matching arrays of different body movements into groups?
Say I have records for the X,Y, and Z coordinates of arms, legs, hands, feet, head angle, and so on between two people. I want to find out, given those for, say, 1000 people, which groups of people have similar movements. What type of problem, terminology, and parameterization would I need to define such a problem in a machine learning system such as ML.net?
I would guess it would be a clustering or classification problem for starters, but I am a complete beginner at this.
Mathematics2 years agoI have an inverter/transfer switch/solar charge controller sounding alarm wired and grounded to - on my 12v battery, why?
The inverter 110v AC out goes to the transfer switch as does 110v AC from the wall and the 110v AC out neutral wire from the transfer switch is grounded at the battery.
Is there any way this would cause any sort of reverse polarity or current backflow that would kill the inverter? The inverter works for days with the same devices plugged in and used, but occasionally had its alarm go off and eventually died. Took it apart and nothing looked burnt nor any fuses blown.

10 AnswersMotorcycles4 years agoSay you just walk by most people, not staring or saying a thing, and most stare the other direction. How can you command self-respect?
Honestly, I'm just sick of it and need to stand the hell up about it. I'm average height, very fit, groomed and dressed, don't do any stupid crap like hold my head down or look disgruntled. But, ok, so most would probably say I have an ugly face and I could really care less...I can take that, but not turning away like I'm some damn criminal or absolutely useless person.
Other - Family & Relationships5 years agoCan a slightly loose connector cause a short circuit or otherwise destroy the functionality of a lightbulb?
My auto mechanic claimed that my new bulbs in my right tail light (which I had installed myself earlier that day) had died within the same day due to a short circuit because of a slightly loose connector (which was not loose enough to allow the wire to move and, say, touch other parts of the car). I also tested the bulbs I installed on the right side and they worked. Also, even after I (and then he) installed new bulbs, the lights didn t work...they only worked when he fixed the loose connection.
Of course, he charged me for the new bulbs.
I am a bit suspicious...do you believe the bulbs I installed honestly went bad within the same day?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoWill humidity be lower with a top-to-top in/out vent setup than a bottom-to-bottom one?
If I bring cool air into and out of separate vents at the top of a shed (trying to run it past hotter air near the top to cool it down) will it result in lower humidity than the same process with vents at the bottom?
In context, I have a mineral dehumidifier on the floor of the shed and want to disperse heat the gathers along the rooftop and want to figure out the best way to release that heat without adding much extra moisture.
1 AnswerEngineering6 years agoHeating efficiency question: how much power should a well insulated 8 by 8 by 10 (height) shed/playhouse take to heat by 35 degrees?
I have a playhouse for my daughter with two 250 watt heaters. The playhouse is 10 feet tall (average height of sloped roof), 8 feet wide, and 8 feet long.
The best I can manage with these heaters (and the insulation I have installed) is about a 25 degree temperature gain (40 degrees outside, 65 degrees inside using 500 watts total heating power). --- I'm wondering...is that considered efficient or not or how would a similar sized room in a well insulated house do in comparison?
In case anyone wonders why I don't simply use a larger heater to compensate, I don't want to stress/fry my extension cords. I also can't find any obvious cold spots minus the wood beams and the wooden front door.
2 AnswersEngineering6 years agoTalked to a college graduate on facebook, now she's claiming it was her 15 year old cousin under her account!?
I was talking to a woman (with pics of a college student at UH) on Facebook under her post that she was in a relationship with a male facebook friend of mine (it showed up on my male friend's Facebook timeline).
Despite my never talking with her about even meeting (she asked about meeting twice and I completely ignored her)...she is messaging me claiming she's going to call the cops on me on the fabricated charge of asking her 15 year old cousin (who, according to her, supposedly snuck onto her Facebook account, never identifying herself) to meet (which, again, I never did ask about).
Can she truly abuse the law like that and get away with it?
What can I do to best counter this?
Furthermore, can I charge her with abuse of the law or a related charge?
To note, I have screenshots of the entire conversation recorded...in case I need to use them as evidence.

2 AnswersEngineering8 years agoWhat is a typical temperature reduction for a portable (not window!) a/c?
I have an 8000BTU stand-alone unit I bought used, but I'm not sure it's working well. When it is 80 degrees inside, it blows 64 degree air (putting a thermometer up to the fan). Is this normal, or, if not, how much colder should the air be?
Also, if it's not normal, what can I do to fix it? I have cleaned the filters, drain the unit often, and keep the extension hose relatively straight and locked into a window...but can/should I also check, for example, the condenser and evaporator coils, if so, how can I disassemble the unit enough to access these parts?
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs8 years agoHow much cooling will the following produce?
If you are running a 7 inch 50 watt fan (assuming motor perfect efficiency) to pull air out of a hermetically sealed container where the air is 90 degrees fahrenheit, assuming there is virtually no heat lost to outside air e.g. it's perfectly insulated...
A) What is the lowest temperature in the container drop to (when the air pressure hits its minimum)?
B) What will the resulting PSI be?
2 AnswersEngineering8 years agoShould portable air conditioners cause low room air pressure?
I have a new portable/non-window air conditioner that blows heat through a vent/tube out of the window and takes in heat from the room into a small cabin I built.
This, of course, creates a pressure difference when the AC is turned on, causing air to be sucked in from the outside and, for example, when I put clear plastic over the window and around the vent, it gets sucked onto the window from that pressure. I checked the closed windows/walls/roof and couldn't feel a breeze, but around the outsides corners of the door (even with weatherstripping), some air was leaking in...and quickly.
Can/should I try to seal the door and block the apparent last remaining source of air into the cabin...or will doing so create a vacuum large enough to do structural damage and/or put extra pressure on the AC?
I did notice the temperature drops much faster (more like 6 degrees per hour instead of 3) when the window is sealed as virtually air-tight (no noticeable air movement)...and wonder if it will be even more efficient with a perfect air seal around the door.
