  • How do I counting pregnancy weeks?

We all know that they start to count the pregnancy from the first day of your last period. That means that 2 weeks are added on before the baby was even conceived.

Well I didn't know when my last period was and my baby was dated by ultrasound at 17+ weeks.

Does this mean that other people who actually conceived at the same time as me are saying they are 2 weeks further along because they count from their last period?

  • My lodger has scabies- where from??

My lodger moved in 2 weeks ago. About 4 days into his stay, he started to complain about insect bites. Hes been getting them on his arms, legs, torso and maybe other places he hasn't told me about! First he said it was bed bugs so we treated the matress and changed all the bedding etc.

The problem has gone on so I sent him to the doctor and hes ben diagnosed with scabies. He thinks that he got it from the mattress but as the only other people to sleep in that bed before him was me and my husband I really can't see how he the mites could have got there!

Also, can the mites survive for long periods dormant? No one has used that bed for about 6 months and all the bedding was freshly washed etc from the day before he arrived.

Where on earth have these mites come from!!

Do we need to buy him a new mattress? We have been washing the bedding and his clothes as hot as possible and he has some stuff from the chemist to kill them off.

  • Pregnant with hypothyroidism - when does the dose increase?

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and can give me some idea of what to expect? I am about 2 months pregnant (dating scan next week) and have no thyroid so I have taken levothyroxine since birth. My daily dose is 125mcg.

I have just had a blood test to check the levels since I found out I'm pregnant. The blood test says everything is fine and I don't need to up the dose. I assumed that I would need to increase the dose at some point and wonder if anyone has any similar experiences? At what point in the pregnancy did your dose go up etc?

    Thanks for your help!

  • How far pregnant am I?

Going to the doctor tonight but some educated guesses on how far pregnant I might be will help pass my time today.

I've been having bouts of nausea since April 4th, then in week beginning April 10th I completely went off coffee and wine (very unusual for me). I got really bloated and had indigestion and couldn't understand why I was putting on weight. I had a light period that same week but my periods have been very eratic for a few months after coming off the pill. I was bleeding and spotting practically every day until that week after which it stopped.

In the past few weeks I've also been having dizzy spells and feeling faint and the nausea now lasts all day, every day.

Did a pregnancy test last night and it was instantly positive.

I suspect that I was already full of pregnancy hormones that week back in April - at what point does the whole nausea thing start? How far do you reckon I might be??!!

  • Have you used Home from Home boarding service?

I have to get by dog's boarded for 6 days. All the best kennels are booked up for the period I need so I think I am going to use this service. They match you up with a carer and your dogs go and stay in someone's home.

Does anyone have any experience of this? How did your dogs react to the experience?

It would be really helpful to hear your stories!

  • Do your Ridgebacks play ball?

I have a 6month old Ridgeback. I was told by many breeders before I bought him that they can't be bothered to play fetch games etc as they are too independant minded. However, my pup loves a bit of a ball game and retreives for me all the time at home. Is this unusual or is the breed being badly presented by those breeders?!

    Experiences please!
