Why do anime series have weird, incorrect, or incomprehensible English titles?

Sorry, but this is more of self-musing. Don’t you think it’s intellectually insulting to live by inflexible words? The thought often occurs to me because I get really annoyed whenever my older, relatives throw instant advice at me (without actually pausing to really listen to my problems) in the form of trite phrases. And I know I'm definitely smarter than them, with my academic accomplishments.

I know about the W-"V" thing, but what about the ending? Just seems like people pay more attention to how the first sylable is pronounced, such that the rest of the pronounciation is actually wrong... Is it a short (-keh) or long (-kei/-kee) vowel sound, silent or whatnot? I prefer to get answers from someone who KNOWS, like a German, or German-language student.

I have chapters and chapters to read for my 7 exams this week but I keep finding ways of distracting myself. I think this originated with poor study habits in college, rewarded by consistently high grades... But I'm a graduate student now and cramming can't cut it... I really need help.
