  • Can anyone help me choose a wall color?

It's for a livingroom. The furniture is a sage green color and casual material. The carpet is a medium grey color. The curtains are choclate brown/cream, but can easily be changed if you'd like to make a suggestion. Also, everything is a solid, would a print help break it up? I want to keep a warm, casual, but put-together look. Thanks to every and anyone who takes the time to answer. You're opinion is greatly appreciated as I am challenged in this area!

  • How do I transfer the car title of my deceased father's car?

In New Jersey. My Father's car would, naturally, go to my Mother. My Mother died 3 weeks after my Father, before any title change could take place, and remains in his name. I haven't decided yet, whether I will donate or sell the car. With it's age, I'll probably donate it. Since everything my Father owned was willed to my Mother, an estate was set up in my Mother's name. I know I need a "short cert" to transfer title, but for who? My Father or my Mother? Can the car be transferred directly to my Mother's estate, or, do I have to set up an estate for my Father, and just transfer title/donate, as part of his? Thanks for any and all help anyone can offer.

  • Is it legal to claim deceased parents intrest income and 1099c's on my income tax?

My in laws died in 2012. Named executors passed before them. My sister in law insisted she settle the estate. A month ago, she approached my husband and said we could save a lot of money by filing an addendum to our previous taxes, adding their interest income, ie, bonds, insurance money, and 1099c's (cancellation of debt) on OUR income tax. She said we would split the amounts, each claiming so much on each of our taxes. She told my husband an accountant told her to do it this way because it will be 3x's the amount of tax to put it through the estate income tax (???) It all sounds IRS shady to me. I've searched it online and have found nothing. I just dont understand how you would claim someone else's 1099c's and interest income when these documents have the decedants names and ss#'s on them. And, seems like a HUGE red flag for the IRS when filing that addendum. I could be wrong, I'm not an accountant, but doesn't seem kopasetic, to me.

  • What happens when a property is inherited?

We (3 siblings) inherited our parent's home. Two heirs want to keep the property and rent it out. I am totally against renting the property out, due to none of us having any knowledge about, or experience in, being landlords. Not to mention I would be the person being called when a repair is needed, and, for any and all maintenance issues, 100% of the time, . Does majority rule in this situation and I am simply at their mercy? Can I force a 'buyout' from them, so that I am not involved in the rental? Lesson to be learned..get your affairs in order, BEFORE you die! THis is a nightmare! Thanks everyone!

  • Primary or contingent beneficiary?

My Father's life insurance policy named my Mother as the primary beneficiary, their children as the contingent beneficiaries. My Father died, then my Mother died 3 1/2 weeks later, before the policy could be paid to her. Does the payment now go to her estate, or to the children? Anyone know about this one? THank you!

  • Do we need to notify homeowners insurance of deaths of homeowners?

My inlaws died within 3 weeks of each other. Do we need to notify their homeowners insurance company that the house is vacant? The home is in NJ, and we're not sure yet what we're going to do with the house (sell/keep/rent, etc), but know the home will be vacant for at least the time it takes to clean it out, and get it ready for whatever we decide to do with it. I believe the insurance company MUST be notified, that the policy will not cover any claim if the home is vacant and the insurance company wasn't notified, and the proper changes made. My sister in law is dragging her feet, saying the insurance remains in effect as long as the premium is paid. Anyone know what our legal responsibility is? thank you!

  • Okay, my IT Gurus..have a desktop that is "frozen". Any suggestions or direction?

Boots up, desktop is there, cursor has been in the same spot for days. Wireless mouse, checked the charge/connections, hit the reset. Have re-booted several times in the last couple days to no avail. I was thinking it was the mouse, at first, but now, not so sure. Any way to test, short of replacing it? Thanks in advance. Don't know what I'd do without you guyzz and/or girlzz! (yes! I'm a "Jersey Girl", but not a "Jersey Shore" girl.. they're just fiction, FYI)

  • How to handle an autistic teenage boy's inappropriate behavior?

My nephew is 14 yrs old, autistic, high functioning, and very immature, comparatively. The other day we were with his grandmother (my mother in law) who is currently in an assisted living facility for rehabilitation following a fall. She was in her wheelchair and he was standing behind the wheelchair, hugging her around her neck when I noticed my mother in law trying to remove his hands from her breasts! So I quietly removed him from her, but it happened again, in her room! She was in bed and he got into the bed to lay with her, and started groping. I told him it was inappropriate and made him get out of her bed. His mother, my sister in law, when confronted replied "what am I supposed to do? He doesn't understand!" Well, I don't know how much he understands or doesn't, but know this cannot continue and he MUST be taught whether it's his grandmother or a classmate, or a stranger! I'm afraid for his safety, my 77 year old mother in law's, and his future. I don't know what the correct way is to handle this. We are very involved in his life and always have been but the sexuality thing I just don't know how to handle when autism is involved. I have 2 adult daughters, and had no problem speaking openly to them about sexuality or anything else. I keep thinking, if the situation involved my daughters and a boy groping them, I really wouldn't care if he were autistic or not! I would be LIVID! Anyone with an autistic child have any suggestions? I know I can research online, and have done a little, but honestly, I have a 23 yr old with epilepsy and gastroparesis, as well as my husband, and have spent the last 4 years researching online. Kind of burnt out. And I really feel as though it's HIS mother's responsibility to educate and control his behavior, not ours! So, if anyone out there has any experience with this and can give me some sound advise, I'd really, really appreciate it. He is our nephew and we love him dearly, I don't think he's perverted but need the best way to stop this before it becomes tragic. Thanks to every and everyone who may be able to help.

  • Will my daughter still be insured?

We live in NJ and have a 23 year old daughter who has been disabled for 3 years now. She is unable to attend college, and has been insured under my husband's health insurance as a disabled child. My question is, if he changes jobs/health insurance company, will the new company also provide coverage as a disabled child? She will need life long care. Can our present health insurance deny her coverage?

  • Does anyone out there live in NJ, have epilepsy/seizures, are seizure free now and insured to drive, legally?

My daughter is approaching 1 year seizure free. Her license was never suspended, we've kept her insured as a driver in the house, (took her car off the road) although she hasn't driven in 2 1/2 years. We want to do everything legally, and know we must disclose this information to the insurance company when/if the time comes that she is able to drive. We are extremely concerned, however, over the cost of insurance, especially in NJ. So, we're wondering, has anyone out there achieved this in NJ? How much does a yearly policy cost? Any advice? Should we move out of the state of NJ? (I'm serious, it's an option) Huge thanks to anyone who can contribute. Additional info- She drove for 5 years, had 1 ticket for speeding (not excessive speeding, 2 pointer)
