But in light of the hostility - the massive shelling of its main facilities and population by Israel, do you think that they will want to retain a twinned city status with Tel Aviv, that they established in 1998.

Herod died in 4BCE, so could not have been around for the birth of Christ, when the Roman census of the Palestine - Judea took place in 6CE, 10 years later.

When Herod died - many women were raped by Roman soldiers during the revolt of Sepphoris. Herod Antipas chose this site in 4 B.C. as the capital of his government. Its across the valley from the tiny hamlet of Nazareth.

If you read the Bible, you will come to the same conclusion as I do, that Joseph was not the father of Jesus. I choose not to swallow the god story - what you choose, however - has to fit in with the historical facts, and Jesus to have to be persecuted by Herod, must have been born in 4BCE, and he would not have been born in Bethlehem. The Romans did not move people around for their census data.

Ok, yesterday- to my shame, I said the Russian Mi-24 HIND helicopter could fly without rotating its main rotor - and by pitching the rotor's propellers against the direction of movement, thus effectively working like an airplane's wings. Also the pilot can vector downwards the turbine's engines, giving it partial lift. It was a joke, but some guy got really worked up by it, So anybody who understands a helicopter rotor will know that even in a fully articulated rotor system, you can not have a wing effect.

The main rotor acts like a windmill and turns. This technique is known as autorotation. The original gospel writers refrained from inventing a childhood, youth or early manhood for JC because it was not necessary to their central drama of a dying/reborn sun-god.

We can trace the subsequent elevation of Nazareth in the Gospel of Luke. Luke is the writer who emphasizes JC's ties to 'Nazareth.' Luke is the writer who goes out of his way to demonstrate an anti-Capernaum stance.

The problem I have is that absolutely nothing at all corroborates the sacred biography of Jesus - and yet this 'greatest story' is peppered with numerous anachronisms, contradictions and absurdities. For example, at the time that Joseph and the pregnant Mary are said to have gone off to Bethlehem for a supposed Roman census, Galilee (unlike Judaea) was not a Roman province and therefore ma and pa would have had no reason to make the journey. Even if Galilee had been imperial territory, history knows of no ‘universal census’ ordered by Augustus (nor any other emperor) – and Roman taxes were based on property ownership not on a head count. Then again, we now know that Nazareth did not exist before the second century.

Nazareth is not mentioned at all in the Old Testament nor by Josephus, who waged war across the length and breadth of Galilee (a territory about the size of Greater London).

The issue of Jesus' death is important to Muslims because Muslims believe in Jesus's return at the end of time. Muslims believe Jesus was not crucified but was raised bodily to heaven by God.

That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not: Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. - Qur'an 4:157

If Darwin is not just a theory , then Christians have a lot more to loose, they loose their reason to live and die - Is it simply too personal for them to consider objectively. I doubt that many would even dare to examine M-theory at all, it is far easier to stay at the edge of the pond and poke fun at Darwin, than to jump in and examine the real depths. But if you consider Darwin with any objectivity, then you are breaking you own created rule of gambling?

Are there any identifible charichters using helicopters like Spot or Paddington bear? I have thought of the BFG... and Tintin, but still looking for a Rupert story with an autogyro in it

Bible-believers often complain about sex in library books, television, movies, and art museums. These complaints, when successful, result in censorship.

The Bible has some mixed messages, I get the feeling that Judges 9:52-53 says that It's better to kill yourself (or have someone assist your suicide) than to be killed by a woman.

The you have Judges 16:29-30 saying that suicide is a noble thing if it results in the death of your enemies (including civilians). Which smacks in the face of the turn the other cheek thing?

But the church seems to pin it doctrin on one verse, At the end of the world many will try to commit suicide to escape God's torments, but God won't let them. -- Revelation 9:6
