  • Who was the first 'Saviour' of mankind?

Being English, I was a little disappointed to be celebrating our Patron Saint, a Turkish roman Soldier, who never ever set foot in England - but it turns out that Horus slaying Set in the form of a crocodile is considered to have been the inspiration for the icons depicting St. George and the dragon - and Horus seems to have done all the Christ things thousands of years before Jesus, so is he the first 'Christ?'

  • Do you think Gaza will want to retain its sister City - Tel Aviv?

Tel Aviv is twinned with 27 cities and has a partnership with Los Angeles, California, USA. But in light of the hostility - the massive shelling of its main facilities and population by Israel, do you think that they will want to retain a twinned city status with Tel Aviv, that they established in 1998.

Also do you think that other twinned cities of the official Jewish Capitol - will want to retain links?

Toulouse, France (since 1962), Philadelphia, United States (since 1967), Köln, Germany (since 1979), Frankfurt, Germany (since 1980), Bonn, Germany (since 1983), Buenos Aires, Argentina (since 1988), Budapest, Hungary (since 1989), Belgrade, Serbia (since 1990), Essen, Germany (since 1992), Sofia, Bulgaria (since 1992), Warsaw, Poland (since 1992), Cannes, France (since 1993), Łódź, Poland (since 1994), Milan, Italy (since 1994), Thessaloniki, Greece (since 1994), Beijing, China (since 1995), Barcelona, Spain (since 1998), İzmir, Turkey (since 1998), Almaty, Kazakhstan (since 1999), Chişinău, Moldova (since 2000), Incheon, South Korea (since 2000), Limassol, Cyprus (since 2000), Moscow, Russia (since 2000), São Paulo, Brazil (since 2004), Vienna, Austria (since 2005)?

  • Why do we celebrate Christmas, when herod died in 4BCE?

Herod died in 4BCE, so could not have been around for the birth of Christ, when the Roman census of the Palestine - Judea took place in 6CE, 10 years later.

When Herod died - many women were raped by Roman soldiers during the revolt of Sepphoris. Herod Antipas chose this site in 4 B.C. as the capital of his government. Its across the valley from the tiny hamlet of Nazareth.

If you read the Bible, you will come to the same conclusion as I do, that Joseph was not the father of Jesus. I choose not to swallow the god story - what you choose, however - has to fit in with the historical facts, and Jesus to have to be persecuted by Herod, must have been born in 4BCE, and he would not have been born in Bethlehem. The Romans did not move people around for their census data.

  • Whats the biggest myth about aircraft you have heard?

Ok, yesterday- to my shame, I said the Russian Mi-24 HIND helicopter could fly without rotating its main rotor - and by pitching the rotor's propellers against the direction of movement, thus effectively working like an airplane's wings. Also the pilot can vector downwards the turbine's engines, giving it partial lift. It was a joke, but some guy got really worked up by it, So anybody who understands a helicopter rotor will know that even in a fully articulated rotor system, you can not have a wing effect.

when there is a problem, Helicopters can to a limited extent -glide without power by using the momentum in the rotors, while using downward motion to force air through them. The main rotor acts like a windmill and turns. This technique is known as autorotation. A transmission connects the main rotor to the tail rotor so that all flight controls are available after engine failure. Autorotation can allow a pilot to make an emergency landing. But do you know of any bigger myths?

  • So what about Nazareth: Dodgy Story, Dodgy Geography?

The original gospel writers refrained from inventing a childhood, youth or early manhood for JC because it was not necessary to their central drama of a dying/reborn sun-god.

But as we know, the story grew with the telling, particularly as the decades passed and the promised redeemer and judge failed to reappear. The re-writer of the Gospel of Mark, revising his text sometime between 140 and 150 AD, introduces the name of the city only once in chapter one with these words:

"And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee ..." (Mk I, 9)

From then on the name is almost forgotten. We may reasonably suspect that all four references in Mark are a later interpolation.

We can trace the subsequent elevation of Nazareth in the Gospel of Luke. Luke is the writer who emphasizes JC's ties to 'Nazareth.' Luke is the writer who goes out of his way to demonstrate an anti-Capernaum stance.

  • Do you believe that the Nativity occurred at all?

The problem I have is that absolutely nothing at all corroborates the sacred biography of Jesus - and yet this 'greatest story' is peppered with numerous anachronisms, contradictions and absurdities. For example, at the time that Joseph and the pregnant Mary are said to have gone off to Bethlehem for a supposed Roman census, Galilee (unlike Judaea) was not a Roman province and therefore ma and pa would have had no reason to make the journey. Even if Galilee had been imperial territory, history knows of no ‘universal census’ ordered by Augustus (nor any other emperor) – and Roman taxes were based on property ownership not on a head count. Then again, we now know that Nazareth did not exist before the second century.

Nazareth is not mentioned at all in the Old Testament nor by Josephus, who waged war across the length and breadth of Galilee (a territory about the size of Greater London).

  • Do you believe Christ was crucified?

The issue of Jesus' death is important to Muslims because Muslims believe in Jesus's return at the end of time. Muslims believe Jesus was not crucified but was raised bodily to heaven by God.

That they said (in boast), "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah";- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not: Nay, Allah raised him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. - Qur'an 4:157

The Gospel of Judas also backs up this viewpoint...

  • Christians - Is the notion of gambling with your soul stopping you?

from even looking at any theories of evoloution.

If Darwin is not just a theory , then Christians have a lot more to loose, they loose their reason to live and die - Is it simply too personal for them to consider objectively. I doubt that many would even dare to examine M-theory at all, it is far easier to stay at the edge of the pond and poke fun at Darwin, than to jump in and examine the real depths. But if you consider Darwin with any objectivity, then you are breaking you own created rule of gambling?

  • Why is the god of Christianity held up as a model of compassion?

when he has murdered so many people and animals?

Wikipedia estimates the human population in the third millineum BCE to be around 30 million. Therefore in the flood, Genesis 7:23,

"And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. "

Then you have another 1000 in Gen 19:24, as he hails down fire and brimstone.

He kills Lots wife for looking, Er for just being wicked, and Onan for having a wa-nk

7th Egyptian Plague: Hail Exodus 9:25, must have taken out about 30,000, and he then kills every Egyptian firstborn child. Ex.12:29-30, 500,000, and wipes out the Egyptian army Ex 14:28 1000 more

  • Why do the Christians feel a need to censorship sex?

Bible-believers often complain about sex in library books, television, movies, and art museums. These complaints, when successful, result in censorship.

Christians should realise, however, that if books are to be removed from the library because of their sexual content, then the Bible should also be removed.

  • Do you think that telly evangilist will go to heaven?

According to Jesus, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. -- Matthew 19:23-24, Mark 10:23-25

So what do you think Billy Grahame, or the Pope's chances are?

The Vatican has large investments with the Rothschilds of Britain, France and America, with the Hambros Bank, with the Credit Suisse in London and Zurich. In the United States it has large investments with the Morgan Bank, the Chase-Manhattan Bank, the First National Bank of New York, the Bankers Trust Company, and others. The Vatican has billions of shares in the most powerful international corporations such as Gulf Oil, Shell, General Motors, Bethlehem Steel, General Electric, International Business Machines, T.W.A., etc. At a conservative estimate, these amount to more than 500 million dollars in the U.S.A. alone.

  • How does your church feel about suicide?

I Jesus gave his life for you, is that self sacrifice the same as suicide - John 10:17-18.

The Bible has some mixed messages, I get the feeling that Judges 9:52-53 says that It's better to kill yourself (or have someone assist your suicide) than to be killed by a woman.

The you have Judges 16:29-30 saying that suicide is a noble thing if it results in the death of your enemies (including civilians). Which smacks in the face of the turn the other cheek thing?

But the church seems to pin it doctrin on one verse, At the end of the world many will try to commit suicide to escape God's torments, but God won't let them. -- Revelation 9:6
