I really like the idea of hiring someone who's in business for himself but lordy, it's so hard to get them to even come out and take a look at a simple project. Is it that they need more training in business (underpromise, overdeliver) or are they just passive aggessive.

On "Dancing with the Stars" Brooke asked Kelly & Val what was going on, romance or showmance?

Which plants can be counted on to produce all summer?

Have you ever seen a PRETTY bridesmaid dress? Please describe or provide link to picture. Everybody always dumps on bridesmaid dresses but I've seen some nice ones!

I have about 50 Spanish lavender plants that are 4 years old. They bloomed beautifully every year but now the plants look woody and spent. I cut them all back by about 1/3. Will they come back or should I consider replacing them? I live in a frost free coastal area in northern California.

Do you ever get envious of plants that your neighbors have grown successfully? Especially if they aren't into gardening. One of my neighbors has a lemon tree so large that she hangs other plants from it's branches!

Everyone says our livingroom looks very Ralph Lauren. How would I translate that look for the bedroom? What paint color? What fabric? What accessories?

Do you have an area of your garden where NOTHING will grow? We have tried numerous shrubs and plants along one fence line (Tasmanian tree ferns, lilacs, climbing roses, clematis). Nothing grows so we call it Death Valley. Any suggestions? Parts of the fence line are in the shade and parts in the sun. One thing we've had some success with are cineraria "Stellata" but I'd like something a bit taller.

I want to use a cordless screwdriver for small home projects like pine shelves. Will I still need to use a drill for pilot holes or can a cordless screwdriver go directly into the wood without splintering? Price IS a consideration but I don't want a useless toy. (I watch a million home show but I've never seen this subject covered).

No one cares what kind of refrigerator you buy but will jump all over your choice of cars! Same thing with elections. If you tell someone who you're going to vote for they get all emotional if they disagree. Why are these such "hot button" topics?

I have a lovely pale yellow viola that I'd like to propagate for the fall. I've collected seeds from it but there weren't that many. I found some for sale but they were $3.99 for 25 seeds + shipping. I have a big garden and I'm trying to economize.
