How do I find overseas cousins?
My grandfather and his brother had children in France and Italy in World War II. I have been using Ancestry.com so far, but there is no way to find these people though that website anymore. I have to take a new step. Does anyone at all know what I can do next? Are there international family databases? Are there French or Italian genealogy websites?
What do I do? Where do I start?
1 AnswerGenealogy8 years agoWhat is the best way to convert a lot of .mov files into .avi?
I have many videos that I take with this new Canon. But it seems to take all video in the .mov format. I'd like to edit those in my Windows Movie Maker, but it'll only edit .avi video.
Solution? Convert all .mov files into .avi.
How?
I know of one website where I could do it one at a time, but who knows if the website is even keeping my video private. For all I know, the website might be storing my file somewhere or something.
Does anyone have any safer solutions to this issue?
3 AnswersSoftware8 years agoMovie file conversion problem?
I just discovered the Windows Movie Maker program. It's pretty cool. I'm able to splice together a lot of older videos into clean cut movies that are actually watchable.
I was wanting to do the same on some recent videos, but I cannot. The recent videos I take, I am only able to view them with a Quicktime player. To perhaps convert the videos back, I right click a video, I select Properties, I go to the "Opens with" option and I try to change the program it opens with. I select "Windows Media Player," and it gives me the following error when I try to play the video:
"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."
What do I do to resolve this? Is there a way for me to be able to play these files with the Windows Media Player?
1 AnswerSoftware8 years agoWhy do I get headaches after eating Lays Potato chips?
Okay. This is provable, now. Every single time. Every time I eat Lays potato chips, I get awful headaches. Doesn't matter the flavor. Whether it's cheese flavor or summer barbecue flavor, I get a terrible headache after eating Lays potato chips.
This is just awful. I have a headache right now. It feels like poison is coursing through the veins of my brain. Or, perhaps a wicked evil plant root is embedded in my brain stem, particularly behind my left eyeball.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know why this happens? I tried to Google Lays potato chips and headaches, and I learned that in 2011, Lays decided to try going all natural. If this is the case, then why in the world am I getting these kinds of evil headaches?
Ouch, man.

1 AnswerElections9 years agoLooking for websites about making sturdy mobile homes, and really improving a mobile home. Suggestions?
The time is approaching when I will be acquiring a mobile home. I would like to make it as sturdy as possible. I suppose that this would involve setting the home on a foundation, but I am not sure. So, how does one make such a structure as sturdy as possible. Are there any websites that discuss this?
Also, I would really like to make the mobile home as nice as possible. Tile floors as opposed to lineoleum, perhaps. Nice trim. And, of course, adding onto the mobile home. I'd like to build more house onto the mobile home, and make it all fit seamlessly. I'd like to add decking, shade, things like this. Is there a website that also discusses this sort of thing?

2 AnswersVideo & Online Games9 years agoFloridians: Will Pensacola Beach area be rainy and miserable next week (2/27 - 3/2)?
Considering a trip to the beaches around Pensacola next week, the last week of February (2/27/12 - 3/2/12). Does anyone know if it will be rainy and miserable? The family and I were considering setting up in a beach state park with a tent set up, and enjoying nature. But looking at the weather channel, I suddenly have second thoughts. Though, weather forecasts before a vacation have often proven to be nothing. Thoughts?
The weather report: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USFL0399:1:U...
I ask because sometimes "weather forecasts" are deceptive as to the true weather conditions.

A possible opportunity to go to Yosemite National Park has arisen for our family. However, the wife will be 6 weeks pregnant, and our child is only a year and a half old.
Would it still be possible to enjoy the park if we went? What could we do?
1 AnswerOther - United States1 decade agoCan I eat this canned spinach?
Last night, I tried to incorrectly can spinach through the boiling method.
I finished at 3am.
The jars sat on my kitchen table since then. It is 9pm.
I have just put the jars of boiled spinach in the refridgerator. This means that the spinach jars were unrefrigerated for 17 hours.
Do you think that the jarred spinach is still edible? Or is there a danger of botulism?

2 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoShould I worry about air bubbles in canned spinach?
Okay. I'm canning spinach tonight. First time canning spinach. Been at this for hours. Only got about seven jars: 2 quarts, 5 pints.
Anyway, I find that in the quart jars, there are air bubbles within the spinach if I turn the jar this way or that.
In the pint jars, air is on the top, above the liquid.
So, I mean, what am I supposed to do? The book recommends that I leave 1 inch of head space between the surface of the liquid that covers the spinach and the lid. Where is that air supposed to go? Leave the jar somehow? Air is still in there. Either on top, or in the form of bubbles in the spinach.
Should I dispense with the idea of head space, and just fill the jar flush with water? Or, should I reduce the headspace a bit? The Ball booklet says: "Ladle boiling water over greens, leaving 1-inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Adjust the two-piece caps."
Help! I'll redo this tomorrow if I have to.
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoJarring tomatoes-1/2" of air between fruit and cap?
We are jarring tomatoes with the boil method. We are jarring whole tomatoes. Now, are we supposed to keep a 1/2" of air or fluid between the tomatoes and the lid? I know we don't want the tomatoes touching the lid in order to prevent mold and botulism. But what do we space it with? Air? or Fluid?

If there was a second Constitutional Convention (as many are rumoring may soon take place), what new form do you think the government will take? More specifically, what kind of POLICY changes do you think will occurr.
One thing I can think of immediately is that the people in power would try to eliminate term limits on presidents. Another thing I can easily imagine is a more broad and oppressive tax system.
Please be as specific as you can folks, and don't just give vauge generalizations. I'm really looking for input here, and the more answers, the better!
