I cook for a living, and on my spare time I cook too. I love to think consciously. I think the most powerful thing in the world is thought (he he he). We can do whatever we want, we just have to stop trying and start doing! I am living proof of this. Its a long story... "So many lines in this world just waiting to be crossed" -Me, just now.

  • Binge Drinking Withdrawal?

I'll try to keep this short. 3 months ago a deck collapsed on my and I fell 20ft onto my shoulder/neck. I broke my color bone in 3 places, 2 broken ribs, 6 compression fractures and 8 broken transverse processes (the little bumpy bits that stick out your collar bone... I was prescribed OUTRAGEOUS amounts of oxycodone (280mg a day with a taper, I did not taper) and took those for almost two months then threw the rest away as I was getting totally hooked on them. I went crazy, crawling out of my skin and freekin! So, I go buy a ton of cheap vodka and commenced drinking all day every day for the last month. The only time I got any sleep was when I "passed out".

I have not had any alcohol in 48 hours and I am kinda going crazy.

    When will this pass.

Everything I read on line are withdrawal issues for chronic long time drinkers and they talk about seizures and DT's, stroke???

Does any of that apply to me?

Sorry so long, your honest answers are appreciated.

  • Have you been harassed and heckled for having Obama stickers...?

I am now on my third Obama yard sign, had my Honda Element keyed (Obama bumper sticker) with what looks like the idiot was trying to spell "terrorist" looks like "tirrorst"... been yelled at with words like "traitor" and "dumb f*ck" etc...?

I dont know a single Obama supporter who has this kind of Junior High bully mentality around McCain supporters.

I think it is pretty clear in our Constitution and in the basic principals of life, that we are entitled to our opinions. That is what once made this country such a great nation.

What have we become when one party the "Grand Ol Party" has fallen to such embarrassing lows?

Whats worse is that there are Obama supporters doing the same thing, though unless I just don't know how to use Google, the incidents of victims receiving verbal/physical violence/property damage etc. are WAY WAY WAY higher in the Obama supporter side of the campaign. Why are Repubs so freekin ANGRY?

  • What is your take on this "Processed meat ban"...?

    this is the article... http://www.newsday.com/news/local/education/ny-lif...

Basically, would you support public schools banning the use of processed meats like hot dogs, bologna and ham that are loaded with clinically known cancer causing chemicals like nitrates?

    Link:

Hot dogs, cold cuts and other similar processed meats would disappear from school cafeterias on Long Island and across the country if a ban proposed today by a group of doctors takes effect.

Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and its subsidiary group, The Cancer Project, filed a petition yesterday asking the U.S. Department of Agriculture to stop allowing schools to serve processed meats such as ham, bacon, pastrami, salami and bologna.

Those products are full of added chemical preservatives such as nitrates that are linked to increased cancer risks, said Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the group, which is comprised of 7,000 doctors who also promote vegetarian diets and oppose animal research.

"If parents saw how these products are made, it would be the last thing they'd let their child go near," he said of the preserved, smoked or cured meat products. Hot dogs, he said, are made by "grinding up pigs' lips and esophagus."

    Opinions?

from a viewpoint dependent of your eating style who are you supporting in this years election? Not just J & B style... where do you stand on the issues? Agriculture perhaps being the main issue? I dunno, that's why Im asking.... who (candidate) supports your lifestyle more... Barack or McCain???

  • I'm doing a cooking interview...?

...and I was hoping I could get some inspiration from some of the other chefs around here...

The problem is the joint only has the basic basic ingredients in the house. Steak and potatoes type of thing.

If I'm going to rock the owners world then what should I do with your basic ingredients. I wonder if it would be weird if I brought a cooler with ingredients I would like to use... or would that be off?

If you had only the basics (steak, shrimp, cheese, pasta, vinegars, olive oil, a few dry herbs, veg like potatoes, carrots, lettuce, tomato, onion, garlic etc.) what would you suggest as an off the cuff/menu entree with salad and soup, probably app too.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • AP headline "House GOP concludes they failed to sway voters" ...?

From the AP we have this little morsel of interest...

The disclosure seemed designed to inflict a psychological blow on Republicans, since the Democratic organization has yet to spend any of the money. But the move also serves as a reminder of the Democrats' enormous financial advantage over Republicans little more than four months before elections with all 435 House seats on the ballot. The National Republican Congressional Committee had $6.7 million in its bank account at the end of May, while the Democrats reported $47.2 million.

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080627/ap_on_el_pr/ho...

Are there any republicans on here that can admit that the Bush regime has done a great deal of damage to the GOP and that perhaps it is time for "change"? If yes, who will you vote for, will you vote, and why?

This is a serious question, no political mud slinging please!

  • Can anyone interpret the intense dreams I had last night?

I am on top of a mountain and I dig up a stone with a beautiful egg shaped stone inside. I lift it up to the light and then see a view of the mountaintop from a distance, and there is a streak of lightning extending up from the mountaintop (where I am standing) to a cloud overhead.

In another dream I was doing some extremely difficult hand balance postures, and the third dream there was an ice storm in the middle of summer. I remember oddity of the beautiful trees

Baba Stuffed Falafel in Toasted Pita

    Etc.

  • What triggered your self growth?

More specifically, what single event led you to come to a life changing decision about your life, that subsequently changed everything in your reality in a positive way?

    A big one of mine:

One day in my early twenties I woke up and could smell chemicals in my sweat (gross I know). This set off such a whirlwind of self realization it ended with me abandoning my life completely, moving 2000 miles away and going to drug rehab (within 5 days). I moved closer to my family I had left at age 15 against their consent. I patched up deep familial wounds and began to participate in the kind of spiritual life I was led to by my loving parents. This led to me getting a job doing something I love (still have the same job), and on my first day I met a woman that I knew I would marry. I did and we have been together six of the most amazing years of my life, and I syill get giddy everytime I know I will see her soon. She is my very best friend.

All this was set off by the smell of my sweat.
