1996 Ford Taurus transmission issues?
Had this exact same problem a couple of weeks ago coming home from work and had to have the car towed. It was fine after the tow, transmission engaged and shifted normally. This morning, I go to put the car in drive and I don't feel the transmission engage. I didn't take this seriously, because I don't always notice. I released the brake and nothing happened...I pressed the accelerator and I could hear the engine speed increase, but the car barely moved. Reverse appears to be functioning fine, but after several failed attempts, I still can't get the car to function normally in Drive. Any suggestions or tips, or is the trans telling me that it's failing and it needs to be replaced or rebuilt.
3 AnswersFord1 decade agoHow long is normal after being spayed for my 1 yr old cat to refuse food?
My cat was perfectly healthy before being spayed at a low cost animal rescue center. Since her surgery, she has been to the emergency vet because she was running a fever, refusing food or water, coughing/sneezing, and vomiting. She had to be given subcutaneous fluids at the vet. Her surgery was Tuesday, I picked her up Wednesday Morning. She ate a tiny bit and took a little water on Wednesday. She was at the vet last night and put on antibiotics. Should I be concerned that she is still refusing any type of food (including her favorite treats and milk) or water? She is urinating still, but only about once a day. She is sleeping most of the day and night and still coughing. Is this somewhat normal? I have only had male cats before and my last cat didn't have any problems after his neuter/front declaw. Should I be looking at taking her back to the vet or wait?
3 AnswersCats1 decade agoSuggestions for knee pain relief?
About 8 years ago I injured my right knee in an accident. It took so long to heal, that I think I damaged my left knee from having it carry my weight. For the last 3 or 4 months, my knee was pain free. I injured my left knee about a month ago, and the pain is getting worse, to where it's starting to affect mobility. There's no visible bruising and it's not swollen. Does anyone have any suggestions as to pain relief? It would really be appreciated. I have tried pain relievers such as Tylenol, Motrin, and Naproxin and they have not helped. I have also tried sitting in a hot tub and muscle relaxers with no relief.

I have an old laptop, and have been fortunate to be able to run Messenger 7.5 on it. If someone has blocked your id, I know that they will show up as offline on your list. Will you still be able to send messages to them if they blocked you? Or will it come up with some type of error message or something?
1 AnswerMSN1 decade agoLabor rates?
I need to have the lower tie rod ends replaced on my taurus...about how many hours of labor are required to do that? I know what the standard labor rate is where I'm from, but when I get estimates, I'd like to know how many hours are reasonable.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat do do for swelling?
Over the last week or so my ankles and feet have been extremely swollen. Granted, I have sprained one recently, but nothing like this. I don't think it's anything medically wrong, but just fluid retention. How can I get that to go away? Any serious suggestions would be most appreciated!
5 AnswersInjuries1 decade agoWho is singing the background vocals?
I know it's a girl, but it's driving me crazy. Does anyone know who is singing background vocals on Blake Shelton's new single "home"? I think it sounds like Reba, Alison Krauss, or his girlfriend, Miranda Lambert.
3 AnswersSinging1 decade agoHelp moving on..where do I go from here?
My relationship of 3 years just ended horribly. The fighting and the name calling and blaming got so out of hand last night that we were screaming obscenities at one another. Regardless of how we feel about eachother, or how people think we feel about eachother, he's not willing to change self distructive behaviors and neither of us are willing to back down. The hurting part is over for the most part, but now I have this extreme hate for someone I love very much. I always said I would never hate him, but you guys have no idea the things he was screaming at me..makes it hard not to hate. It also doesn't help when there is a member of his family telling me how much we love eachother and are just afraid to admit it and how he doesn't want to grow up and blah, blah, blah. I'm past holding out hope for the relationship, I just want to know how to get over the extreme anger before it consumes my life.
8 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoIs there any hope for my relationship?
My boyfriend, well ex boyfriend now I guess, just broke up with me on Sunday night..he didn't really give me a reason, aside from wanting to sleep around, saying a shrink told him that was his way to have control over his abusive past. He just got out of rehab and we've barely talked in 3 months and now all of the sudden..boom...we've gone through almost the exact same situation at least 6 times in the 3 years we've been together and he's always wanted me back within a week or two..is there any hope for us, and am I crazy for taking him back every time? I know it's cliche, but I do love him, and it never used to be like this. Any advice from someone going through or has gone through the same or a similar situation? Broken hearts are no fun.
2 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoBest way to get over a broken heart?
My boyfriend, well ex boyfriend I guess, just left me after 3 years because of some bad advice he got from counseling in rehab. I'm not an enabler or supporter of his addictions, so I can't understand how us breaking up is justifiable..but that's not the point..I guess you could say this came as a complete shock and we don't even have any closure or anything 'cause he won't talk at all. What's the best way to get over a broken heart, especially when you don't have much support from family or friends? And if you're going to say I'm getting what I deserve (like my family does), please don't waste your time posting an answer. Thank you to everyone with serious answers.

Software1 decade agoIntolerable pain with an ear infection?
I started with an ear infection yesterday morning and went to the doctor for some antibiotics. I caught it early and was also given pain meds, but the pain is getting worse and pretty intolerable. The pain meds just don't seem to help and I can't get comfortable enough to keep dry heat on it. Any home remedies or suggestions from anyone in the medical profession or any parents? I'd appreciate all suggestions. I'm 27 and otherwise healthy.
4 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoIs Boniva safe?
My Grandmother has severe osteoperosis, but is highly allergic to Fosamax. Doctors have recommended other treatments, including Boniva, but she is leary because of her reaction to Fosamax. Are all osteoperosis medications based on similar drugs or could she try Boniva without the risk of the same side effects she had with Fosamax? Serious answers only please!
2 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoKnee pain?
I have alot of pain in my left knee, almost constantly, and it's usually swollen. I haven't had an injury to the knee, but I did injure my right knee several years ago. I am wondering if anyone knows of any exercises or anything to help strengthen my knee and to relieve pain? Advil helps some, but I wind up having to take so many that my ankles wind up swelling. Any SERIOUS suggestions or remedies would be greatly appreciated.

11 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoWhat's a good wine for someone who never liked it?
I have tried wine a couple of times before, but didn't like it. Can anyone recommend a good wine for a beginner? I prefer red grape juice over white and I like sweeter things. I don't know if that makes any difference, but suggestions are welcome!
15 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoWill a craniotomy cure aphasia?
The aphasia is a result of a subdual hematoma which is putting pressure on the area of the brain that deals with comprehension. The doctor wants to do a craniotomy to repair the subdual bleed, but I'm wondering if that will cure the aphasia as well. Serious answers only, please.
