  • is it safe to braze on my scooter's crankshaft?

My woodruff key was sheared off, and the hole it sits in is widened enough to prevent a new one from being installed properly. I just want to know, or at least be reassured that a brazing would hold. If you don't already know what a woodruff key is, it's a small piece of metal that holds the flywheel tight to the crankshaft.

I'd imagine this should be able to withstand the speeds the thing spins at, only because it would be ideal that there be no play to begin with, so the metal being somewhat soft isn't a big deal.

  • 150cc Roketa (Chinese) scooter does not deliver power everywhere?

I blew something up, not sure what it's called, nor in fact, what it is. When the fuse is plugged in, the console has no power, I cannot read RPM, nor fuel level, can't use signals and the brake light fails. The starter relay is still powered, and I can short the leads to start the engine, though the actual starter button does nothing.

When the fuse is disconnected, of course I can start it with the kick, but I cannot do the normal electric start (yes, I know why, it's got no power), but the console works, signals work, brake light works, everything has more power.

I do not know if the battery is being charged when the fuse is connected, I haven't tested that, though I imagine that wouldn't be hard to figure out.

I had a puff of smoke appear wihen SOMETHING shorted while I tugged on the fuse wires. I suspect it's some sort of relay, or a voltage regulator, but I'm not sure. My best guess is that it's where three wires intersect on... a thing that I was unable to find a photo of on a parts website.

    Best guess?

  • How do I compile a drive in Ubuntu Linux?

I have downloaded the source code for my video card, as it is not available in Synaptics. I have never compiled anything before, and the tutorials just aren't helping. They keep talking about make, and Makefiles...but make does nothing for me, though I have two different Makefiles in each of the folders: Makefile.in, and Makefile.am.

I really have no clue at all where to begin. I've put the uncompressed folder in my download's folder, in my home directory. I don't know where to go now.

Please keep in mind that I have very limited Linux knowledge, and my programing skills are about as awesome as a 5 year old's. I do understand some jargon, but I just don't know the process.

  • 150cc scooter has no spark.?

My 150cc chinese scooter is not starting. It's a Roketa 150 if that helps. I had a short in the mirror, but I fixed that easily. This caused the fuse to go out, again, replaced. The bike has a full charge, so the battery isn't the issue. When I try to start it, it sounds perfectly normal for a starting attempt. I have a full tank too, just topped it off before it died.

I replaced the spark plug, because I had an inkling a while back that I was having trouble with that, so I thought of that first. I also replaced the cap (the thingy that connects straight onto the plug, don't have the proper name). I cut the wire too, as it looked a little frizzled. That's all secure. The plug won't spark. I measured the voltage at the selonoid, and that's about 25 or so (which is strange for a 12 volt system, isn't it?). I tested again just prior to the plug wire... I don't know what that thing is either, but it's two connections and a roundish thing. I assume it's some sort of transformer or capacitor. I only got about 2 volts there. That seems very low to me.

I know how to use a screw driver and ratchet. I can use a voltometer. I just don't know how to diagnose the bike. I do know that there is no spark, as I physically took it out and watched it during a crank. Nothing at all. I didn't test compression, but since I'm not sparking, why bother yet?
