I just have a little spare time to dawdle with, what are you doing with your spare time? Its gonna be a while till I get to the next level, so what the hell, may as well have some fun getting there. Thats why I post my questions, some are good and others are - well just for fun. Once in a while I will have a sober moment of awareness of greater issues, and post something a little more serious as it warrants the moment of contemplation, though in this forum my efforts aren't often rewarded with the desired response.

  • whom would I have to go through to get a Dragon Li kitten?

Its been almost 5 years, has anyone else noticed that the Dragon Li or Li Hua, bares a striking resemblance to the Kilblan Cat series of T-shirt designs from Crazy Shirts based in Halawa, Hawai'i?

I would like to get a kitten of this cat, where do I need to go to get one?

  • At what velocity does an aircraft have to go to begin experiencing atmospheric friction?

Where as the outer hull will start to heat up and begin to burn off?

My colleges and I are extrapolating concepts for a replacement for the space shuttle. I have a design for a space shuttle that does not need a heat shield. It just needs to use braking thrusters to keep its return velocity below "Burning Up Speeds".

We need a new shuttle, to enter service in time to repair or upgrade the ISS before its scheduled retirement date. At which time if it is not repaired or upgraded, or adapted to a new lease on life as the basis to adapt it into an extra planetary expeditionary vehicle. It will be broken up and the larger pieces will not burn up completely, unless it is blown up into smaller pieces.

What ever isn't broken up and survives re-entry will land on someone's home or head, if it does not land in the ocean as it is supposed to. Unless a piece of space junk intercepts and changes the trajectory towards an inhabited area - then the poop is going to hit the fan.

We prefer retrofitting the ISS to a new role, since most of the infrastructure is already up there, strip out the obsolete hardware, and upgrade what is broken or needs to be improved upon for the new role.

The naysayers will always find reasons to NOT support a new lease on life for the ISS. They only want a brand new craft, the problem is who will pay for a brand new craft. Nobody will. But upgrading existing assets is much more economical in the long run.

It seems someone thinks it is.

I found a thread in Sankaku Complex Forums called "Rule 34 Challenge" and some users seem to have stumped the forum with their claims that rule 34 is indeed a lie.

  • Proper name for pasta served with raw tomatoes & onions - please?

The topping I was served with was essentially thin sliced tomatoes & thin sliced onions with a smattering of chives & a dash of olive oil.

    It was surprisingly very good.

  • A Star Trek Question: ?

Did the creators of ST Voyager have the Capt. Janeway character intended to be a part for Kate Mulgrew or could the part have been filled by some other actress?

Because Kate Mulgrew has an uncanny resemblance to Helen Morgandorpher... Was the casting of Capt. Janeway influenced by MTV's Daria series.

  • Is the closing episode of Voyager included in Disc 7?

I've been shopping around for the Star Trek Voyager DVD collection, after buying one -the final closing episode "Endgame" was not included in the set I bought. I think It may have been a pirated copy. And thusly I was ripped off.

So I have been trying to find a copy of just the 7th season that has the final episode included on it.

None of the copies I've found on amazon or ebay list the final episode of Endgame - at least those few that have a list of the episodes in the description of the product being sold.

STV was my fav of all the series, I would like to have some "closure" before I buy the farm.

  • Why is it that the Star Dates are inconsistent in the Voyager series?

If their journey was in chronological order, wouldn't the star dates be in order?

Unless the writers were just picking the dates randomly - is this a failure of the writers at the time of production of the Star Trek Voyager Series?

I believe that this is the right category - because I'm sure some of you follow the star trek saga

  • How long will it take to build a pyramid a hundred and twenty miles high?

If the Antarctic's snow and ice cap is going to disappear within our lifetimes. Would it not be a good idea to start doing the design work of building a pyramid at the south pole. On top of the continent, since it has already been compressed from millions of years of glacial ice. It ought to be ideally suited to support the foundation for a practical space elevator.

There are cranes that can carry a hundred tones at a time, in shipyards. And modern concrete recipes for high density construction is common place.

Worst comes to worst, its already unavoidable that the ice caps will be gone, either from natural or unnatural global warming.

The conditions are ideal at this time in human civilization to start building the space elevator. Utilizing existing construction technology, and the shambles of national ecconomies all over the globe, this is a great opportunity to unify the people of the earth to create new jobs for everyone from the lowliest worker to the engineers & designers.

Its also an opportunity for environmental concerns to get together and plan out building on the exposed areas of the space elevator pyramid, places to construct practical passive atmospheric scrubbers to clean up the pollutants that exist in the earth's atmosphere.

This is a great opportunity to stop fighting among ourselves, to get organized and get back to work on real jobs. For everyone, by opening up new opportunities for space exploration and space industry, as well as all the sub industries that support businesses related to this endeavor....

We have the time, the location is available & its the perfect excuse for restarting the ecconomies by creating new jobs for everyone on the planet that is hurting right now.

  • Is it possible to land a world ending asteroid onto the earth's surface safely?

Using orbital inertia for soft landing onto a polar cap or a nearby continent?

There is a usefulness to this, if it can be done. By landing an asteroid with an altitude of a hundred and 20 miles high from sea level to low earth orbit. We can jump start a practical space elevator by digging out tunnels within the asteroid to house an electric rail network to haul freight and space manufactured commerce.

As well as building deep inter planetary exploration vehicles in local earth orbital space.

It may not be science fiction if we can figure out how to do it in our lifetimes. Getting into space may not have to be dangerous or as expensive as it is now with our reliance on rockets.

  • Is it theoretically possible to soft crash an asteroid intentionally onto the planet's surface?

If it is, then if the numbers were properly crunched for an asteroid of approximately 140 miles in diameter could be safely landed, on a continent or on top of a polar cap. Could NASA have a new project objective to find a suitable asteroid to fill the need?
