  • In what order should I read through Rick Riordan's series?

I've obviously started with the Percy Jackson series, but I'm a bit confused as to how the others fall in line. Should I now move onto the Kane Chronicles or The Heroes of Olympus?

I've only recently discovered Rick Riordan's work, and I'd really appreciate any feedback on how to move forward. Thanks so much for in advance for the advice you offer me.

  • Wisdom teeth removed 6 days ago. Do I have a dry socket?

I think I might have a dry socket in one of the sockets where my lower back, non-erupted wisdom tooth used to be. I don't have that much pain, but when I feel the side of my cheek, I can feel a bulge back there - one that feels like it's almost perfectly round. (The other side of my face along the jawline feels normal and flat, so to speak.)

So, is this normal swelling, or should I go back to see the dentist again?

  • Biology question! 10 points best answer!?

“Synthesis of one protein cannot take place without the presence of another protein.” Is this statement true or false and why?

    A. This statement is false because only DNA and RNA can carry out protein synthesis, which involves transcription and translation.

    B. This statement is false because protein synthesis can take place directly with the help of amino acids.

    C. This statement is true because every step in protein synthesis requires enzymes, which are nothing but proteins.

Thank you so much for any help you can offer me here in advance.

  • Yellow cake and sour cream: should I be worried?

I'm making a birthday cake for my mother. I'm a tad nervous about using a recipe that calls for sour cream. I've never used sour cream in baking before, and with an occasion this important, I don't want to take any risks.

Will sour cream alter the flavor of the cake, or just moisten it? Will it taste like sour cream? I still want sweetness, but I need a moist cake.

  • PLEASE HELP Laptop Keyboard keys not working!?

I typed this by inserting special characters in a word document; it took quite a long time. These are the keys I have found not to be working - so far: c, f, j, k, l, q, s, ctrl, shift, right arrow key, enter, and capslock is stuck on. I just properly cleaned the external keyboard, more or less. I think my dog (10-12 pounds) may have jumped/stepped on the keyboard while I was out of the room, but I am really not sure. What can/should I do to fix this? Thank you for your help!

  • Can I feed a mouse these things?

I have a new pet mouse for a psych project at school. It is now my pet, so I don't want to harm it, but it also needs to find its way through a maze. Here are some foods I would like to try to train him to get through the maze, in no particular order:

    Peanut butter

    Cheddar cheese

    Colby jack cheese

    Almonds

    Walnuts

    Cucumber

    Spinach

    Carrots

    Corn flakes

Saltine crackers (maybe Wheat Thins, too)

    Multi-grain bread

    Apple

Bananas (I've read them needing to be dried, but are fresh okay?)

Is there anything that mice really like in particular?

  • Hey everybody that has ever lived ever: any tips for pulling an all-nighter?

Yep. I'm pretty tired as it is. I've got a lot of homework to do in about 6 hours here. I've got some sugared coffee drinks to my name.

    What else do I need/should I do?

  • I have some fairly severe scratches on the lens of my glasses. I'm concerned that I may be developing...?

...a blind spot or, if nothing more, a [very] blurry spot where the scratch lies on the line of my vision (this is with my glasses off, of course).

I haven't been able to get a new pair of glasses for a year, which is almost over, but I was wondering if this was even possible. If so, is there anything that I will ever be able to do to correct this? Will it just go away on its own with a new, scratch-free pair of lenses?

  • I'm having some issues with Ionic Equations. Can you help me out?

This is how I did the problem:

    The original part of the equation: _ Na2SO4 + _Ca(ClO3)2 =>

We're supposed to do a double replacement reaction first, like so: 2NaClO3 + CaSO4

Then, we're supposed to "write the ionic equation for each one". This is what I did:

    Ca+ + SO4- => CaSO4

However, my teacher's answer sheet says this: 2Na+ +2ClO3- + CaSO4(with an arrow pointing down)

I don't understand how this is the answer. Can someone explain to me how they're teaching this? Thank you very much!

  • How the Industrial Revolution contributed to the ideas of Socialism and Communism?

I'm getting a lot of conflicting definitions and answers... everything is beginning to merge into one....

I could really use a simple definition of each Socialism and Communism with an example relating back to the Industrial Revolution, in Layman's terms if you please, just to help me get things sorted.

Thank you so much here in advance!
