  • Any experience of ventiriculomegaly please?

At my 20 week scan it was found that baby has fluid on it's brain and enlarged ventricles. To cut the story short, I'm now 25 weeks and had numerous scans and an MRI. My latest results say that baby's vents are now 19mm and 22mm (up from the original 14mm and 17mm), it's corpus collosum is present but thinning at the back. The main concern seems to be that at the moment baby's cortex (folds on the outside of the brain) have not developed at all. Does anyone have any experience of this? I have been offered termination at any time I feel I would like to, and the plan at the moment going forward is to deliver around 33 weeks (as soon as baby's lungs are ready). I have another MRI booked in for when I'm 28 weeks to see if there is any change. I would just like to hear of any others with similar experiences, as I'm aware this could cause my baby serious problems but the doctors cannot tell me exactly as it's all 'play it by here'!

  • Guinea Pig Sexing?

Last month I bought a guinea pig who as it turns out was pregnant. Now I have 3 4 day old pigs and struggling to sex them. I am going to keep checking to see if it becomes more obvious but if anyone could she'd some light with these pictures that would be great as I have homes lined up but don't want anymore accidental pigs! Not the best photos as we have little wriggle bums:

  • Help with fish please. Illness?

Noticed this on my gourami today, she's acting/eating/swimming normally but her fin is definitely not right. It kind of looks like it's been bleeding where it meets her body, her other side is normal (no red/pink at all). I haven't noticed any fighting, I have only one other gourami that would be able to take her on. All water tests are normal. The only thing that has been different recently is that she is one of the survivors from a tank disaster last month. Sorry the images are a bit rubbish, she's very active and I only have an iPhone camera to work with.

Also I say she's female, it's my best guess - her tank make it clearly female but I'm unsure with this one lol.

  • Which fish should I get...?

Last month I lost most of my fish after my tank exploded. The survivors have been in my secondary (emergency) tank since but today I have bought a new 4ft tank (182l) I'm now thinking about what I should get to put in it. I'll be adding them over time not straight away so I've got time to think but just wanting some ideas. I currently have 2 x Opaline Gourami, 1 x Bristlenose Plec and 1 x Bronze Cory.

  • Wanting to do face painting at my son's party?

I am currently planning my son's 5th birthday party and he wants a superhero theme. I am making each child a personalised cape to have in their party bag and wanted to do face painting also. I have looked into a professional face painters but was hoping to get costs down by maybe doing the face painting myself but after looking at numerous professional face painter websites I have noticed they all have liability insurance (which I expected). I am just wondering if I do the face painting myself would I need some form of insurance? What are the legal guidelines on this? Tried googling but it's not really helping. Thanks in advance.

  • What kind of fish is this?

I was given three of these fish a few months ago by a friend of a friend. All he told me was that they were Cichlids. I don't have much experience with these types of fish so was wanting to know it's specific name so I can read up on them. I'm leaning towards a Rainbow Cichlid but would like a second opinion. Also how do I sex them? Thanks in advance.

  • Is my Guppy ok? (first time fry)?

My Guppy has given birth to 2 fry but it's been a few hours now and nothing else has happened. From reading online I got the impression once it started it was quite fast. She clearly has more fry inside her so I'm just wondering if this is normal, is there anything I can do to help? or do I just leave her to it?

  • Can a csection scar become infected after 11 months?

My daughter is 11 months old and was delivered by caesarian section. After having my son (who is now 4) by csection and getting a bad infection shortly after I made sure I kept on top of my aftercare this time around. I have never had a problem with the scar this time around until last week I noticed it was weeping a little. I presumed I had caught it on something as it seemed to stop. Between then and now the weeping has stopped and started, and yesterday I noticed a lump along the line of the scar. It is very tender to touch and has that typical infected odour. I have made an appointment to see my doctor on Monday but I'm just wondering if a simple infection is likely to be the issue? I didn't think it would be possible to get an infection this long after the surgery.

  • Help me remember a programme I used to watch as a kid :)?

This is bugging me to the point where I can't sleep. Did anyone ever watch a children's tv programme (I'm guessing it was produced in the 1980s sometime?) similar to the muppets. I have really vague memories of watching it (A LOT) as a kid but I can't remember what it's called! The only episode I can remember is about two of the characters (called The Twins - they do have names but I only remember people called them The Twins) anyway, theres a storm and the twins house blows down so they go and stay with someone else (no idea what hes called, but he was miserable) in his castle. While theyre there they wreck the place...messing up his stuff and they break his bunk bed. That's all I remember - sooooo annoying! Help?
