How to deal with a hypocritical Christian?
I have a friend who is a devout Christian. Or so he claims. Despite these claims and his attempts to convert to me Christianity (I'm an Atheist), I've noticed he exhibits several of the sins that are called "deadly" sins.
He frequently commits the sins of wrath, sloth, lust and pride. He exhibits them very often and it isn't a minor thing. It's very bad when he does it. He is very violent, never gives effort at anything he does and is extremely derogatory towards even his friends sometimes. With pride, he brags all the time about how awesome the stuff he does/says is.
How do you deal with a Christian like this? Please give me a serious answer, because he gets extremely difficult to be around sometimes.
22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoGraph of a factorial function?
Is there a standardized graph of a factorial? Such as in analysis of algorithms (computer science) where the time complexity of an algorithm is O(n!) where the time executing the algorithm is equal to the factorial of the number of elements (n!).
I know that I could just plug and chug a graph for this, but is there a standardized graph for this? I can't seem to find a graphing calculator that will do it.
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoWould this formula work to model exponential growth of health care?
I'm not looking for a political conversation, I would just like this formula looked over.
f(x)=[(c*n)/(n-k)]
c=base cost per person (unadjusted for mass coverage of uninsured)
n=# of people in United States (Roughly 300,000,000)
k=# of people who are unable to afford health insurance (roughly 40,000,000)
Would this not constitute as a somewhat exponential function? As more people are unable to pay, the cost for those who are paying goes up. As the cost goes up for those that are paying, fewer are able to pay and then the number of those unable to pay grows. So on and so forth in an infinite cycle. Is this not accurate?
2 AnswersEconomics1 decade agoCan anyone give me some practice problems for summation notation?
Been learning about standard deviation and summation notation (capital sigma notation) and I was wondering if anyone had some good Pre-Calculus level summation notation practice problems (ie: sequences to convert into summation notation)
Thank you
1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoHow does on navigate this situation as an atheist?
If I'm in a household that says grace (my friend does), how do I go about this? Do I just go with it but keep my eyes open and say nothing? Do I refuse since I am not a part of the religion my friend belongs to? What exactly do you do and why do you do it? I can't figure out the best way to navigate this.
Also, what do you say when a theist says they will pray for you? This comment probably pisses me off more than any theistic comment out there, but I don't know how to respond to it without coming off as an &%$.
19 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHelp me with a C++ issue?
I am creating a console C++ program and in the program, it offers a setting to change text color. It allows you to chose from green, blue and red and upon choosing will save a number (1-3) in a .txt file which in turn corresponds to a certain text color. The program is compiling just fine, all variables have been declared and all functions previously initialized in the header file (this is in a header file that is included in my main.cpp file). The problem is that no matter what number the text.txt file contains it is constantly defaulting to the first if() statement which gives it a green text. Is there a way to fix this or is there something that I am doing drastically wrong with this? (this is only a partial section of the program I'm working on which is designed to help me get the hang of C++ again).

Thank you for any help you're able to offer :)
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoCall of Duty WaW, Wii bolt action rifles suck!!!?
Okay so I have stopping power and I am using an unscoped mosin nagant with a bayonet. I walked into a room on hanger and from about 2 yards away (turned and he was right there) shot him in the chest/neck/head area and did not get the kill, he proceeds to turn around and shoot me for about .5 of a second with a mg42 and kills me. What do you guys do to kill with an nonscoped bolt action rifle on Call of Duty WaW? What weapon do you use? What perks/attachments? Please tell me because rifles in this game are at such a disadvantage compared to machine guns and the overpowered SMG's in the game.
