  • Santeria experts only...what is the meaning of a pigeon sacrifice?

At least that's what I think it was, though I may just be paranoid. ;) Today, I found a bunch of gray and white feathers in a circular shape in my mom's backyard (no actual bird, though). The house is empty right now, and we go check on it every week or so. That makes it hard to keep tabs on anyone jumping in my yard. But what worries me is that a few weeks ago, I had to file a police report because I found a big, circular burn mark on the concrete slab where the patio table is (same yard). I immediately thought - santeria. Then again, could it just have been a cat that fought a pigeon...and won? Or, do you think I'm right...and if so, what kind of ritual do you think they could have been doing?

BTW, I have a neighbor who is a Santero, and he is mad at me right now....so, I've always had a gut feeling that he is behind this. Am I being paranoid? Please let me know what you think! Thank you! ;)

  • Did I just get scammed....?

by my mobile mechanic? I found him on Craigslist, he fixed my a/c (new clutch), changed the oil, and then brought my mom's car up to date mechanically, so we can sell it. All of his prices were reasonable.

He told me he had a friend who was extremely interested in buying the car, and that he would call me today to tell me what time (this was last Friday). He didn't call today, and when I called him...I found that his phone is no longer in service. What worries me is that while he was working on my mom's car, he asked me to hide the key so he could come earlier in the day (I don't live there). I said fine, and got the key back from him the next day. He didn't go earlier, though - which was the point of my leaving the key. Now that he's disappeared, and his phone is no longer valid....I'm worried that he made a copy of the key, and that this is a scam to steal the car later.

He seemed like a really nice guy...came from Cuba 4 yrs. ago...but I think I may have been too trusting. What do you think? Am I being paranoid?

  • Does anybody else have this pet peeve....?

you just can't stand when people mis-pronounce the world nuclear, and say "nucular", instead? It's one of my biggest pet peeves, and it bothers me even more when the person speaking is a supposed "expert" on nuclear issues!! UGH!

  • What's the best security camera system I can get for my backyard without spending more than $500?

I've read that X10 cameras are not good in the dark, and that most wireless cameras can be hijacked by scanners, so other people might actually be watching you while you enjoy your yard! Protection One just gave me an estimate of $3,000 for 4 cameras! Any suggestions? I'm trying to catch vandals.

  • Why does my car alarm reset so quickly? (Please help, need to fix today - Saturday)?

Example: I'm unloading groceries from my car. I click on the remote to turn off the alarm and open my trunk. I carry bags into the house. Within seconds, I come back out to get more, and the alarm goes "beep-beep" - alarm is reset! Then I have to click on the alarm again (beep-beep!) to be able to continue unloading groceries without the alarm going off. This process continues over and over again, until I've unloaded all of my groceries, and I can reset the alarm one last time (beep-beep!). This is extremely annoying for me, and I can only imagine how my neighbors feel about it. I'm really embarrassed by all the noise they have to put up with! Why does it do this? Is there a way to set it to reset after a longer (more practical) period of time?

  • Santeria experts....is there a reason why a santero would burn something on my property?

The house has been empty for 8 days, just went back to check on it, and found that there was a circular burn area on the concrete slab where the patio table is. My chain link fence was also bent from someone jumping over it to get in the yard. I immediately thought of my santero neighbor who is mad at me.... I filed a report with the police who said it was borderline arson, and we'll be ready for the jerk next time. Anyway, any specific rituals that are done on someone else's property that involve burning?

  • Where is the a/c compressor located on a '01 Honda Civic EX? I want to see if the belt is working.?

I need to know as much as possible before I take it in for an estimate. I don't want to get scammed (i.e. them saying I need a new compressor if I really only need a new belt!). Thanks to all!! You guys are great!!

  • Engine made chirping sound, then a loud constant sound...now no sound, but a/c blows hot air. What's up?

It's a 2001 Honda Civic EX (45K miles) - oil change a bit overdue (7k miles)....will change soon. Otherwise, hasn't had any other problems. All of this happened within a span of about 15 minutes.

  • Is Yahoo still working on fixing the problem with music videos in full screen mode?

There are a few questions out there re: this problem that are 4-5 months old. At that time, Yahoo was supposedly trying to fix it because it seemed that a lot of people were unable to view music videos in full screen mode. But that's a long time for Yahoo to supposedly be working on it, and I'm still having this problem. I was wondering if anyone knows the latest. Please let me know.

P.S. Attn: Yahoo - If you can't fix it, pls. go back to the old format. Watching videos in teeny tiny screens is no fun at all.
