  • Before your missed period, what made you think you were pregnant?

I've asked this of coworkers and friends, but I'd like to reach a broader audience. Ladies, other than a missed period, what symptoms, if any, made you think you were pregnant?

  • Lighten hair without dye or bleach?

My hair used to be this really pretty red, but it's darkened to a deep brown over the years. I refuse to use dye, due to allergies, so how can I get the red back?

  • Why does the first day of your period suck so bad?

The headache, backache, cramps, emotional highs and lows, bloating, sore breasts, and last, but not least, the pimples. Why does getting your period suck? It's just seems like the first day is the worst, and the last day isn't much better. Just wondered if anyone else kind of feels to same way I do.

  • Could this be a side effect of my birth control pills?

For the past couple of days, I've been spotting a little bit, and have been really crampy. I've also had the more than minor irritation (emotional) that I get before and for the first couple of days of my period. I started taking Microgestin (low dose pill) about a month ago. Could this be a side effect that I wasn't told of or is it my body adjusting to the pills? I'm calling my doctor to make an appointment, but could really use some advice.

  • Sister in law is pregnant and has a massive headache?

My sister in law is a little over three months pregnant, and she's been getting really bad headaches. Sometimes they pass on their own or with Tylenol, but this one doesn't seem to be going away or even fading a little. She's got allergies, and she says that the pain is right behind her eyes and at the back of her head. Loud noises make her cringe and she's trying so hard not to cry. It's kind of painful to see I want to help, but I don't know what to do. What can we do to make her feel better?

  • Why isn't my dog eating his food?

My dog is 14 years old, and has always had a healthy appetite. Yesterday, he didn't want to eat anything that wasn't a Milk Bone, and earlier tonight he turned away from those. We tried tempting him with a bone from a steak that still had some meat on it, but he turned away from that, too. He really loves peanut butter, and won't touch it now. There's been no change in his bathroom habits, which is odd all things considered, and isn't vomiting or having diarrhea, but we're starting to get really worried about him.

We took him to the vet late last week cause he was limping, and they put him on steroids for the inflammation. They said that it might make him sick to his stomach if he didn't eat before he had it, and we've been thinking that it might be the cause. We skipped a day of medicine, and it didn't help. What would be wrong with him?

  • Selection mode in Open Office blinks?

I've noticed recently that the selection mode in Open Office blinks. Really, really fast. It shifts from mode to mode and makes it really hard to type. It's making me crazy. Is there anything I can do about it, or should I just unistall it and call it a day?

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks, everyone!

  • No Child Left Behind Act?

I went through my senior year in HS three times. One thing I remember the most about it was my vocab book. First and second time through, we used a college level vocab book. They gave us 22 words, broken into 11 word blocks, with definitions below. We had to find the definition in the dictionary and go from there. The third time, we went back to the same format from eighth grade, with the word, then the definition. We went from reading "Dracula" and "Great Expectations" to what felt like "Curious George Plays Hockey".

From what I've come to understand, the whole NCLB is meant to keep kids in the same age group together as they move through school, without really caring if they can pass the class at all. I couldn't graduate HS until I passed Brit. Lit, and Gov't and Econ. I finally passed and graduated, but I actually had to deal with kids who passed because of NCLB, and I was left to wonder "What in the world are they teaching in schools these days?"

  • Need the name of a disorder where your allergic to any blood other than your own?

I remember reading a book once, and one of the characters had a rare blood disorder. The long and short of it was that she was severely allergic to anyone else's blood, except for her half-sister's (don't ask me how that's possible, I don't know!). Basically, I'm asking what the name of the disorder is. I've tried looking it up on webmd.com and on Wikipedia, but I can't seem to find it.

  • My period is two weeks late. Could I be pregnant?

I need some help. My bf and I were having sex, and we lost the condom inside me after he'd ejaculated. Now, my period is two weeks late. I took a test, but it came up negative. We've had some weird results with pregnancy tests in my family. My sister was six months along with her first kid and it came up negative.

Basically, I just want to know if it's possible, or should I just take another test?

  • Written From Villian's POV?

I'm looking for a book writen from the Villian's POV. I think it was a collection of short stories, but I can't be sure. Two of the stories I can remember from it was the first and the last. The first one was about an evil sorceress queen who was telling her life's story to a scribe, mostly about how she'd killed all the other princesses in nearby kingdoms (Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc) and stealing their money, land and princes. The last was about how Captain Hook came to be, about his boyhood in London and getting teased by Peter Pan or something like that. If anyone's read it before, or even knows what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate it.

  • Hmm, this could be fun, and an easy riddle . . . maybe!?

A friend of mine was a bookkeeper. One day while at work, he noticed that balloon has two double letters - two l's and two o's. And even though he thought and thought, he couldn't think of a word that had three. Can you?

Ten points to the first person who gets it.

  • Where to find parts for a Mac without using eBay?

OK. I have a Mac PowerBook G4. The screen met with an unfortunate accident and sparks when I turn on the computer, and doesn't come on. I've tried getting a replacement computer from eBay that needs parts or less repair than the one I have. Unfortunately, the parts that I need are out of my price range or I get outbid at the VERY last minute. If I take it to a computer repair shop, it'll cost me $400 BASE and a $90 deposit. Does anyone know a good place to find parts?

  • Looking for the title and author of a book told from a villian's POV?

I read a book a friend let me borrow. It had a bunch of short stories in it, dealing with all the villians from various stories, (Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Peter Pan, etc.). I can't remember the title or the author, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Is it harder to use a Mac in a Windows controlled world?

Mac VS PC. With the advantages of both, why is it so hard to find software, games or accessories for Mac? I love my Mac, but I have such a hard time finding ANYTHING that will work on it.

Anyone have any reasons why that is? Please, no snide or sarcastic answers.

Maybe I missed something somewhere, but how can Naruku has all the shards of the Shikon no Tama (Sacred Jewel) if Kohaku still has his and Kouga still has his three (is it still three?)? Anyway, can anyone explain this to me? I'd appreciate it. It's driving my nuts trying to figure it out.

  • Christian and Pagan animosity?

Why do Pagans and Christians always seem to hate each other? We're sharing the same planet, so, and I hate to sound like an idiot, but why can't we all just get along? Why is it so hard for some to accept that not everyone thinks, believes or practices their belief in the same way?
