  • How do I get birth control?

I'm a 17 (going to be 18 soon) year old girl. In the last month and a half or so, I have become sexually active and would like to prevent pregnancy. I have looked into several options, and the IUD seems like the best choice for me since it lasts for years and you don't have to remember to take a pill or get a shot. I would also want it to reduce or eliminate periods since mine are generally heavy with harsh cramps so I was looking into the hormonal (Mirena) IUD. My mother would be furious if she found out I was having sex, so I was wondering if I should just go to her with the heavy period excuse, or wait until I'm 18 to get it even though it would be expensive up front? Do you have any other suggestions?

  • Things to do when you're alone?

I've been trying to get out and door more things so I'm not being lazy around the house and wasting time on the internet, but I'm limited for various reasons. Most of my friends are out of town since it's vacation, I live in a small town where there isn't much to do, and it's cold out. I want to get out of the house, but is there anything that you can do by yourself that isn't awkward? I'm starting to get stir crazy and I just need something to do so I have something to talk about when I go back to school.

  • Boyfriend has separation anxiety?

My boyfriend has admitted to having separation anxiety and it seems to be stronger when it comes to me. I asked him about it and he said he feels it strongest towards me. When he has to leave me he gets really irritable, agitated, and slowly gets depressed. When he's not with me he complains of a feeling like there is a literal hole in his chest and difficulty breathing. At nighttime he has issues falling asleep and breathing and when he does sleep he has recurring nightmares of losing me. I've had to call him late at night because his anxiety is so bad that only the sound of my voice will calm him down. He won't tell his parents because he says they won't take it seriously or they'll make fun of him. Is there something I can do to help him?

  • How do I deal with this rude girl?

So there's this girl in one of my classes, and we don't talk at all. I know her name, but that's really it. I've never had a problem with her but for the last week she has been really mean to me for no reason. I don't know where this came up, but she attacks everything I say and has a smug, b*tchy, comment for everything. It seems to be only me that she's acting this way to. I haven't said anything back to her or been nasty to her since I don't want more problems, but how do I deal with this? I want to be the mature person but I don't even know why her attitude towards me got so hostile when we never even talked. Help please, how should I handle this girl?

Also, we have to sit next to each other in this particular class and seating changes won't be made. Plus I am 2-3 years older than her since it's an elective class and all the grades are mixed together.

  • Questions about birth control?

I've never been on any sort of birth control before, but I was thinking of starting. Since I can't swallow pills, I was thinking an IUD might be the better way to go. I've heard it's painful and everyone has their own experience, but how badly would it hurt for a seventeen year old virgin who has never even been to the gyno before? I've done a little bit of research, but I was wondering if anyone could share their experience or give suggestions on birth control. I don't want it for sex purposes, mostly just to regulate hormones and lighten heavy periods with strong cramps. Although since it lasts 5 years, there is a chance it would be used as a contraceptive as well. What do you think?

  • I've always wanted to go to Alaska?

From a young age, I have been fascinated by the state. It is so beautiful and outdoorsy that I've always wanted to go. Cold weather doesn't bother me too much, and my love for outdoor sports, hunting, fishing, camping, etc. just fueled my desire to go. However, I'm only 17 and talking to my parents about this seems a bit extreme. My father shares my love of the outdoors, but my mother and sister hate it. Will I have to hold out until I can do it on my own, or should I just suggest it to my parents? They know I've wanted to go, but I'm not sure if my mother is willing to pitch in for a trip that she won't really enjoy, or pay for a trip that would end up being just my dad and I.

  • How do I get rid of this fever?

I've had a fever since August 14 and I have been sick since due to contracting mononucleosis. It's been in the 99-100 degree range for the past two weeks, but in recent days it's gone up to 100-101 being the norm. I've gone to the doctor twice, and there's really nothing they can do. I've been taking tylenol and sitting in bed, but nothing seems to bring the fever down. Any help?

  • The toilet is constantly getting backed up?

The toilet in the upstairs bathroom is constantly getting clogged up. Every time someone has a bowel movement the toilet get clogged. Not only this is embarrassing if you're a guest, but it's also annoying to have to unclog it multiple times a day. The house was built in 2007, so it's not an old home. I don't know if we have a septic tank or not, but we live out in the country so we might. Any help?
