  • A question for Christians only.?

I'm doing a bible study/weight loss program. It tells me that if I want to be protected from satan's temptations I need to eat right and exercise. I have an issue with this. If I eat right and exercise will I not be successful because of my own actions? If I believe that God will help me as a result of my own right actions, aren't I then using God as my lucky charm? And if I don't do the actions exactly, God can't or won't help me? I have always believed that God would take me as I am in the sense that he helps me no matter what my weaknesses are? What are your thoughts?

  • If the trinity is false, then how do you explain these verses?

" God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." Genesis 1:26

"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: ..." Genesis 3:22

"...let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.." Genesis 11:7

"And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." Luke 1:35

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:16-17

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not...

...And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1-5, 14

Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?" God said to Moses, "I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.' " Exodus 3:13-14

    and then...

But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I AM (emphasis mine): and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. Mark 14:61-62 (Note: why did they want to kill him? What act of blasphemy did he commit?)

  • A few questions for Atheists?

    1. If we all end up dead and nothing more in the end, what difference does it make if people want to believe in a so-called fairy tale and practice a religion?

    2. In your opinion, what's the best way we should live this one life?

    3. If you believe in evolution and we all end up as worm food after we die, why do you care about the advancement of society (and removal of religion) when it's not going to affect you in a reincarnation or afterlife?

    4. If people are minding their own business, talking only to people who are interested in religion and answering sincere questions in an R&S site, why do you find it necessary to insult them?
