  • How do I know if I can take a stress leave of absence?

I teach at a very small private school. I have been having so much difficulty with stress, mainly due to my students disrespecting and disobeying. How do I find out if I'm able to take a stress leave of absence? I am currently under contract until the end of the school year, and will be paid through summer. Can anyone help?

  • Is it possible to teach a novel unit without books for everyone?

Curious if anyone has ever wanted to do a specific novel unit, but did not have books for the entire class? If so, what did you do to teach the novel unit? Did you just read the book and have the students listen, or was there something eles? Did you find a way to borrow enough books from some place for free?

I have not selected which novels I want to do this school year, but I am narrowing down the list. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help

  • Are there any companies that will rent/lend out a set of books for a novel unit?

I was curious if anyone knows of any companies or groups that will rent or lend out sets of books for novel units. I am still trying to narrow down which novels I want to do for the upcoming school year, and my choices at my school are very limited. If there was a way to rent or borrow a set of books, it would help out a great deal. If anyone knows of any companies, it would be great to hear who they are.

  • How do I convert my computer monitor into a tv screen?

I have a very nice computer monitor which I am not using for any computer. I want to connect it to my VCR/DVD player so that I can use it as a television screen.

The monitor has a VGA, DVI, and Audo In connection ports.

On the back of the VCR/DVD, it has S-Video Out, VHS In Line 1 (R Audio, L Audio, and Video), DVD/VDR Out (R Audio, L Audio, and Video), and DVD Exclusive Out for Component Video Out (Pr, Pb, and V) and Audio Out (R, L, and Coaxial).

Are there any cords I could buy for connecting these devices together so that I can watch TV on this computer screen?

    Thanks for the help.

  • How would you fit 10 grades into a school with 6 classrooms?

Just curious if anyone has any ideas about how a school with 10 grade levels (K4-8) into a school building that has 6 full size classrooms, a small teachers lounge, and a cafeteria? The school is also connected to a church, which could be used. Also, might there be anyway to keep the 8 grade level teachers the school currently has?

  • Can I fund raise for a marathon & use a portion to offset costs for travel to event?

I was wondering if it is OK to fund raise for a non-profit organization and use a portion of the costs to travel to the marathon I'm planning to run? I see individuals fund raising for marathons all the time. I am registered for the 2011 Boston Marathon. I have limited funds available to travel to the event. I would like to fund raise for one of my favorite charities. Just wondering if it's ok or not to use some of the money raised to help pay for my travel to Boston. Would it be fair to just state that I will be using a small portion of the money to pay for my travel? Just curious.

  • Does the Boston Marathon cost any money?

Is there a price to enter the Boston Marathon? Or is your entry 'fee' your qualifying time?

  • What are the best pre- and post-workout meals for a marathoner?

In your opinion and your experience, what are the best pre- and post-workout meals? I am looking for more variety, more energy, and better recovery foods and meals for my marathon training. I am part-time Vegan (spouse and children are 100% Vegan). I do try to eat a good deal of healthy foods, but with my training, it seems like I'm not getting back enough of what I am burning. Any recipe suggestions?

  • Is there anything wrong with using animal waste for fuel/fertilizer?

Since many people believe that eating animals is wrong and using/eating animal by-procucts is wrong, does that mean people shouldn't use animal waste for fertilizers or alternative fuels?

  • What is the best way to approach the following situation?

I am not vegitarian or vegan, and don't plan on becoming either. I love veggies, fruits, tofu, grains, and beans, but I also enjoy chicken, beef, pork, and fish. I try to eat healthy, avoiding most junk food, only going out for fast food once a month or so, not drinking alcohol or carbonated drinks (haven't had soda in 14 years and have never had alcohol), and much more. Also, I'm a competitive long-distance athlete, and I do my best to fuel and refuel properly, which includes getting the proper amounts of proteins and carbs from meats, grains, oils, and veggies.

My wife has switched over to a vegan lifestyle and wants our daughters to do the same. I'm hesitant on the whole thing, but not resisting. She has help from doctors, books, and other supportive sources.

I just want to know how I can approach all of this (being outnumbered 3 to 1) and not get so stressed out. Anyone going through the same thing, or has gone? Any ideas?

Again, I'm not going to go vegitarian or vegan, that's not an option for me. So no answers suggesting this. Thanks.

  • Is there a 2010 UMI NASCAR Preview & Press Guide?

Today I was looking for this year's UMI NASCAR Preview & Press Guide, but was unable to find it. I looked on their website and found zero mention of a 2010 guide. Did they stop publishing the guide? If not, where could I find one?

  • Any Chicago Bears fans in Wisconsin unhappy they can't see tonight's game?

Thanks to the NFL Network not being on Time Warner Cable, and the end to broadcast TV, for the first time, most Chicago Bears fans living in Wisconsin are unable to see tonight's game. Anyone upset about this? The past few years, as well as tonight, one of the local Chicago TV stations has broadcasted the NFL Network's broadcast, but this station in not on the Time Warner Cable lineup in Wisconsin. Also, because of Digital TV, I, and others, cannot get the game via antenna, like I did the past three years.

  • How would you change the NASCAR schedule?

Just for the fun of it....

If you could make two changes to the NASCAR schedule, what would you change? Or if you could take one race away from a track that currently has two races, what track not on the schedule would you add in place?

Here are the tracks that currently have two races....

    Daytona

    Auto Club

    Las Vegas

    Atlanta

    Bristol

    Martinsville

    Texas

    Phoenix

    Talladega

    Richmond

    Lowe's

    Dover

    Pocono

    Michigan

    New Hampshire

If I could make any changes I wanted to here is what I would do....

I would have a Saturday night style race night at Bristol or Richmond, including:

    - practice and hot laps

    - qualifying

    - 10-lap trophy dash for top 8 from qualifying (these cars would qualify for the feature)

    - 3 or 4 15-lap heat races of 10-12 cars each (top 6 qualify for feature, rest to last chance race)

    - 25-lap last chance race (top 4 qualify for feature)

    - Feature would have 30 cars going 50-75 laps

As for taking races away from tracks who have two....

I have always felt New Hampshire and Martinsville are very boring races (only one grove of racing, take hours and hours to run the races), so take one away from each of them and give one back to Darlington and race at Nashville Superspeedway.

    What would you do?

  • What is a good solar generator to power a computer, TV, and other small items?

My family and I will be moving into a loft in January. Our loft will be on the top floor and I am interested in getting a solar panel to help generate power for the computer, TV, and a few smaller items. I was wondering what is a good solar panel to purchase? I am looking for a panel that is both inexpensive and can generate enough power for the items I want it for. If you want more information, I can provide some.
