Tips on teaching my puppy not to bite?
I have a puppy that never stops, hes either asleep or tearing *** around the house. I love his energy and cant wait to take him places, he doesnt have all his shots yet.
i can play with him all day, but his puppy teeth hurt :(
I just need some tips on stopping this, he knows 'no bite' but that only stops him in the process. I need him to not bite people at all.
i have a clicker that hes fairly trained on but I dont know how to apply that to biting.
i tried yelping or whatever when he bit to hard, but that just seems to get him more excited.
I realize hes a puppy and all that, I just want to be sure im training him in a way that insures he'll learn.
5 AnswersDogs10 years agoInterpret this dream for me?
I had this dream awhile ago and its pretty much stuck with me at this point, hurr goes:
My grandmother is apparently on her death bed, her hair is black and stringy with sweat ( its blonde and full in reality) her eyes are sunken in- she generally looks like hell.
My whole family is gathered in her hospital room, it becomes apparent that she only has a few moments left to live.
My family decides its my duty to tell her the last thing she'll hear on earth. I have no idea what to say.
im sitting next to her bed trying to come up with something to say, I cant. My dream rewinds and I get a few trys but nothing I say is right. My grandmother critiques me and before I can find the right thing to say, she passes and I wake up.
Wtf does that mean?
1 AnswerDream Interpretation10 years agoDo you believe all people are created equal?
Throwing aside the conditions of any god and not in terms of race.
I personally do not.
is it possible to consider things equal if the components differ?
FOr instance, if I have a friend that is smarter than me, but I am stronger than them- do the ups and downs of each attribute equalize us?
If we are all assumed to be different in our own ways, is it logical to believe these differences can generally inhibit or lend to our success?
Just a thought, looking for different perpsectives

I normally feed my puppy around this time (2pm) and hes scheduled for the vet in about any hour. Can I feed him now or wait?
3 AnswersDogs10 years agoHow can I protect my puppy?
My roomate doesnt seem to understand that my puppy is indeed a puppy. He overeacts over accidents, which are honestly rare (such a smart puppy!) And often screams in his face.
I always put a stop to this because Clyde (my puppy) is my baby and I will not tolerate it.
it has caused plently of fights between us and I will not back down.
My roomate has cats, that are constantly destroying or peeing on things such as clothes and furniture. I do what I need to do to protect my belongings, close my door, pick up my stuff. Where my roomate leaves things out expecting then to be fine. Ive brought this up to him.
Clyde is a lovebug and doesnt deserve to be screamed at over things that are either my, or my roomates, fault.
Ive always trained my own dogs and clyde does nothing I would consider bad. Even when he pees in the house its on tile, easy clean up- not that big a deal.
My roomate thumps him on the nose or 'spanks' him over little puppy things. He does not abuse my dog, but thats not how I train my dogs.
He is crate trained so its not like I let him run free when im not home.
Im honestly close to breaking my roomates nose.
How can I get him to understand hes just a puppy?
11 AnswersDogs10 years agoWhat organic or real food treat would you recommend?
Im house training my puppy, using flax seed peanut butter as an incentive tool and he chews on carrots.
but im looking for a treat I can give him on a regular basis everyday without any negative side effects.
and I dont really want to bake him biscuits all the time, though occasionally it could be fun.
I do not give him table scraps, but I really want his treats to be a real organic food
He loves lettuce but its not so good for him, I hear.
he hates bananas and eggs.
what about pumpkin? Green beans? What else is out there?
also, I sometimes shred carrots and add it to his puppy kibble- are there other things I could mix in occasionally for positive effects?
4 AnswersDogs10 years agoPit bull myths and behaviour help?
Clyde, my puppy, is assumed to be a golden retriever/ pit bull mix. We're like 80% sure on this.
I have to confess pit bulls make me nervous. Based solely on their reputation. I understand they are probably a misunderstood breed, but I've never been around them enough to take this to heart. I mean no disrespect to them
Ive heard they like people or dogs not both?
And that they challenge their owners and sometimes attack them?
Clyde is a sweet heart and its hard for me to imagine him having an aggressive bone in his body.
Ive always trained my own dogs, but a pit bull is almost overwhelming to me.
do they require stricter training than other breeds?
He is an inside dog in the process of crate training by the way.
Are my fears unfounded or is there really a strong aggressive streak in pit bulls?
Any info, help, or down to earth resources will be greatly appreciated :)
17 AnswersDogs10 years agoIs it considered mean if I dont play with my puppy 24/7?
I have a 6 week old, large breed(my guess so far is golden and pit mix) puppy. Hes an orphaned puppy, so dont freak out now.
I play with him as much as I can, either play fighting or stuffed animals or something but he never stops. And he doesnt fetch so its always more involved than throwing his ball down the hallway.
Dont get me wrong I love this about him, I just feel guilty I dont have the energy to play with him nonstop.
Im an active dog owner but this is my first puppy. once hes old enough to hit up the dog park and run with me on bike rides, ill be able to wear him out. But at his age, its just me and my roomate versus him and his countless toys- with no other dogs...
My roomate and I are on different schedules so hes almost never alone, just not constantly being entertained
Do puppies get bored easily or is everything exciting to him right now?
he doesnt have any attitude problems that would suggest hes bored.
should I feel bad about not playing with him
constantly?
what could I give him to do when I just want to chill?
If anyones thinking another puppy, thats not an option right now. Good guess though.
14 AnswersDogs10 years agoBehavior issues in an orphaned puppy?
A little over a month ago I came across a puppy in a junkyard. He was so sick it nearly broke my heart, his mother was even worse. I doubt shes still alive now, there was nothing I could do for her at the time
i got him home and back to full health after tons of money and no sleep. Hes now 6 weeks and my little champion.
Ive got the physical parts down. Feeding and deworming and vaccines and all that. Ive been socializing him with other dogs I know are vaccinated and too many people to count. Ive always trained my own dogs and im starting him on that now. He goes outside already, knows sit and other words.
But now im worrying about the issues specific to orphans. Im teaching him bite inhibition, although its slow right now.
What other lessons is he missing out on that I need to teach him?
am I in over my head with this, or making it harder than it needs to be?
I plan on taking him to puppy training- more for the socializing though. Could this be enough or should I resort to trainer?
4 AnswersDogs10 years agoPuppy ate cigarette butt?

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoHow do you interpret the christian bible?
It seems everytime I have a question concerning the bible, I get a response that leaves me with more questions than answers.
such as, we dont know gods plan, or something that is more of a read between the lines approach.
Do you interpret the bible literally or
less strictly? Why?
Do you believe it depends on the passage and author?
Is the bible perhaps a basic guideline for a healthy christian life, leaving the finer details for you to interpret as you personally see fit?
Old or new testament?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoPuppy breathes weird when sleeping?
I have a 6 week old mutt puppy that seems to have weird breathing patterns when sleeps.
When I watch his chest rise and fall, it appears he takes two or three normally then holds his breath for a little bit. He only does this while sleeping. Especially after he eats.
Is this normal?
Or possibly a known issue to puppies?
If so, are there certain breeds with this issue?
How could I bring this issue up to my vet if I cannot show her?
2 AnswersDogs10 years agoWill this wear off or do I need to correct it now?
Over a month ago I found an orphaned puppy. I bottle fed him and started weaning at 4 1/2 weeks. At 6 weeks he is now on dry food. I realize opinions on this differ. This was following vets orders, before anyone gets nasty about it.
Hes always been super eager to eat. I figured this was an instinct to fight for food amongst his littermates.
But now at 6 weeks he still does this. I hold him back to teach him manners but it gets dramatic at times.
I know you should train dogs in patience and eating order by making them wait for the okay.
my question is concerning the intensity of the situation, is this a reflex that will simmer down, or do I need to strictly correct this?
What do you think is the best method?
6 AnswersDogs10 years agoDo you think animals have emotions?

do you consider emotions to be more than a series of chemical reactions?
5 AnswersZoology10 years agoDo you believe in residual energy?
which is, as I vaguely understand, the imprint of a life or constant action on nonliving things through the absorbtion of energy.
If you do, do you find it to be the discharge and absorbtion of a physical energy?
Or something more conscious? Perhaps defined as a life force?
Would this add to the overall make up of the imprinted object? Making it measurable and scientifically translated?
Do you think studying this possibility could expand on the subject of a soul?
9 AnswersParanormal Phenomena10 years agoDoes the theory of evolution disprove the existence of god?
In my limited research it seems to me that certain animals could not have evolved.
for instance, a horse pumps blood back up from its legs when it walks or runs. The bottoms of their feet compress with each step to force blood away from its hooves and pulls it toward them when it expands again. Without this feature they would become lame and die. I dont believe this could evolve as the species would have died out without this system in place and fully functional from the beginning.
What adaptive measures would this animal turn to and why would an underachieving heart that requires assistance evolve?
this is only one example in nature, giraffes, spiders and other creatures also carry these doubts.
in terms relativity, there is very little evidence tracing animals back to ancestors when considering how many species are on this planet. And there is almost no hard proof these connections are 100% true.
This is not to say the theory of evolution is a joke. I fully believe it. But is it possible a higher being had the intelligence to design living things that adapted from there?
if you believe god is perfect, is it fair to say he created animals perfectly designed to fit with the enviroment until we, as human beings, changed the world around us, forcing them to evolve? Leaving some animals in their original form?
does the belief that creatures at the bottom of the ocean (which is almost untouched by humans) are primative and fairly unchanged, as far as we know, support this?
Where do apes and humans fall into this equation? have we existed long enough to have that impact?
Dinosaurs? Is there an evolutionary gap considering these prehistoric animals are widely believed to have been wiped out? Does this put doubt on the time after this to be the rise of mammals, if they are believed to have evolved from the reptiles that were removed?
Would any god make a creature in his own image that would be considered ineffiecent and defenseless in the animal kingdom?

Is it considered bad behavior when a dog stays under your feet when you walk?
I'm always tripping over him or accidently kicking him.
Is this seen as rude or bad behavior?
