Putting too much pressure on yourself?
I've always had that (bad?) habit to put a lot of pressure on myself to do things right and to perform. This is especially the case with sports (I was a national/international level athlete) and with school. I'm on my 2nd year of university, and so far I have a cumulative average of 94%, which is quite high. Having been able to achieve such high grades makes me feel like if it goes down it will be kind of a failure. I know I put too much pressure on myself because this desire to keep being good drains me and stresses me; but it is also an unconscious desire so that I don't have much control over it (yet?).
So, I'm just looking for your thoughts on that or any tips. Thanks.

Have any of you ever reached your mental/physical limit? Have you ever reached the point where you realized you couldn't continue, even if you wanted to? If yes, what were your feelings/reactions when it first happened and how did it affects the way you lived/did your things afterwards?

If no, are there any reasons why we would need to have a purpose in life? Would searching for one only be a byproduct of our intellectual mind?
8 AnswersPhilosophy9 years agoSolutions: technology or not?
We've been having a lot of ''problems'' since the industrialization, mainly pollution of all sort. The usual way to deal with pollution is to develop even more advanced technologies to try to get rid of the pollution that one is making.
Here is a quote I came across recently: ''The fact of the matter is that whatever we do, the situation gets worse. The more elaborate the countermeasures, the more complicated the problems become.''
My impression is that even tho we are constantly improving our technology, we're not close to stopping polluting, and some might even say that it gets worst.
So what are your impressions? Do you think we'll be able to reach a point where we'll be able to stop polluting with the aid of technology? Or are we just covering the problems with fancy technologies that might cause even more problems in the future?

To all of those who keep saying: if we react to/prepare to/fight man-made global warming, we are going to lose our liberties/freedom.
I would appreciate to know what are those liberties we will lose and how is it going to happen?
So far I've seen that we will lose freedom by paying more taxes. Anything else?
