Was the buy bull really written by god?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan you imagine burying someone up to their neck and throwing small stones at their head until they are dead?
Doesn't that sound as barbaric as a culture could possibly be? Check out this link:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4114621.stm
As I understand it, the people that throw the stones are ordinary citizens that are afraid to appear anti-establishment. Would it drive you absolutely insane to participate or even witness such brutality? Why do these people put up with it? Are they totally brainwashed by their religion or what? I just don't understand how anyone could condone this. Is there anyone from the middle east that can add some insight into these types of executions so the rest of us can better understand what the media is reporting? I just want to better understand the context of the executions so I can temper my gut reactions to these types of stories. What is going on? How on earth can this be accepted by the population in general?
Thanks in advance.

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristmas and Easter...pagan holidays??!!?
I just watched a documentary that claims Christmas and Easter are pagan holidays that were adopted by early christians. Easter was a pagan fertility festival that involved orgies and virgin sacrifice. Pagan rituals were based on seasonal / celestial events and the pagans used the first day of spring (spring equinox) for this. The main fertility symbols were the egg and the rabbit (as in, "they reproduce like rabbits"). I was skeptical at first, but then I started thinking about eggs and rabbits and how those two things DO bring to mind fertility (I grew up on a farm and rabbits really do just have sex all day!), and I could think of nothing that they would have to do with Jesus!
From the internet:
The ancient goddess, Eostre, a Saxon deity who symbolized new life and fertility, was the key symbol of this celebration which was also known as Ostara.
Does anyone know if any of this is true and what bunnies and eggs have to do with Jesus and God? Are we worshipping pagan gods!?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoA question to Muslims about the 70 virgins thing...?
I keep hearing about these 70 virgins that every Muslim man gets as a reward if he makes it to heaven. One thing I don't understand, though...after the first night, they wouldn't be virgins anymore, so would I get to turn them in for new ones? If so, what happens to the ones that are no longer virgins, and where do all the new virgins come from? Are they like sex robots or something?
Also, what do they women get? 70 virule young men?
Thanks, and please don't kill me.
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSpider man web coming from wrong place!?
Listen, seriously! I am an entomologist and spider's webs do not come out of their arms! The web comes from their rear end! Spidey should be swinging butt first, and would need a little hole in the back of his suit...
6 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoDoes God love some people more than others?
If god knows everything then presumably he already knows who is going to hell or heaven before they are even created, right? Does that mean he damns some people before they even exist (that is, he knows they are going to hell, so why force them to exist knowing their fate?). Does he do it for the benefit of those of us whom he knows are going to heaven? My pastor says all the 'bad' people are just meat robots with no souls that god puts here as spectacles for the rest of us? Is that right? I mean, he doesn't really damn people before they even exist right?
