  • Spreading Santorum and other nonsense?

So, as you are no doubt aware, Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney have a bit of a Google search problem. Namely, some classy liberal columnists thought it would be witty and stuff to post repulsive "definitions" for Romney and Santorum and encourage their followers to manipulate the search algorithm to put them at the top of results.

Now, you might say that it's all in good fun, but I couldn't help but notice that Obama doesn't have such a problem. Neither do any other prominent Democratic politicians. Perhaps this reveals something about the liberal mindset?

Of course, as a conservative, I try to judge people as individuals, not as groups, so I thought I'd ask the liberals (and conservatives) of this site what they think about the "childish insult gap" we see here. Do you think conservatives should take the high road or just suck it up (no double-entendre intended) and do likewise for Obama, Cuomo, and Clinton?

  • How many other Republicans want Obama to win in 2012?

And not because I would vote for him. Consider these facts.

    1. Romney and Gingrich are both subpar candidates on so many levels. If elected, they'd win narrowly and have next to no mandate. Further, we'd have to wait until at least 2020 until we got a decent new candidate, and the Democrat would probably win anyway due to Republican fatigue.

    2. If they lost narrowly, we'd keep the House and probably retake the Senate. So he couldn't do anything too outrageous.

    3. We could romp to a beautiful victory in the 2014 midterms, courtesy of the "Six Year Itch." Maybe even take a filibuster-proof 60 seats in the Senate.

    4. We'd have our pick of Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Chris Christie, John Thune, and countless other intelligent, charismatic, qualified, and young candidates in 2016.

The only reason I can think of to want Romney or Gingrich to win is that we can still get rid of Health Care in 2013. But if the Supreme Court declares the Individual Mandate unconstitutional, we won't even need that.

So why shouldn't we prefer it if Obama wins very narrowly, we keep the House and Senate, and the Supreme Court declares Obamacare unconstitutional? It seems like that's the ideal strategic outcome.

    Discuss.

  • The last Presidential nominee from the other party you'd support?

    And briefly describe why.

If you're an "independent," take the party you lean toward right now (in a matchup between, say, Romney and Obama). Extremist libertarians and theoconservatives count as Republicans, and socialists count as Democrats.

For me, it's Alton B. Parker in 1904, since I'm a Bourbon Democrat at heart. Obviously, I lean Republican.

  • Grammatical question?

Which of these is correct and in which circumstances?

    "three types of" [singular]

    "three types of" [plural]

My teacher and I are in a little dispute over this, and I would like some clarification.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Roots and nature of filial respect and love?

I am curious about the way that most people love their parents. Obviously, I am an insufficient sample and my friends come from a very singular cultural context, so we can't really know how most people view parental love and respect.

How do you or most people you know love your (their) parents? Do you love and respect them purely for the role that they played in your development (for giving you food, shelter, and their accumulated wisdom, such as it is)? Or do you give them love and respect that transcends their roles and comes to them as people, for their moral soundness and superlative wisdom? Keep in mind that their role usually influences the second, but (from personal experience) I know the relationship to be rather fallible.

  • Advanced Geometry Class Homework?

Let S be the set of all triangles ABC for which 5 ( 1/AP + 1/BQ + 1/CR ) - 3/(min(AP, BQ, CR)) = 6/r, where r is the inradius and P, Q, R are the points of tangency of the incircle with sides AB, BC, CA, respectively. Prove that all triangles in S are isosceles and similar to one another.

  • How do I get a formal tutoring position?

I want to earn some extra money and think that I have reasonable credentials for tutoring in math, physics, social studies, standardized test prep, and possibly other fields (I have already taken the BC Calculus AP, both Physics C APs, as well as the European History and American History APs, all 5s). Furthermore, I have received relatively good scores on high school standardized tests (2280 on the SAT and 35 on the ACT, both in 8th grade), the AMC (132 AMC 10 and 6 on AIME), and already am serving on the peer tutoring staff at my high school (so some experience with tutoring). Unfortunately, I am a 14 year-old high school freshman, and I haven't been able to find any tutoring companies that hire high school students (at least based on their websites). Can anyone suggest any possible options?

    Thanks in advance :D
