  • What is the earliest a driver has ever locked up a position in the Chase?

Mathematically speaking, what's the earliest a driver has been a lock to make the chase if they shut their car down right there and didn't race another lap till the chase started? I'm looking for how many races back and how many laps if at all possible...as an example, the answer might look something like, "On lap 125 at Bristol in 2006, Jimmie Johnson had enough points to assure himself a place in the chase. Anyone know?

  • Is a false positive L-test on the MMPI possible?

110 characters to frame my question seemed a little short - the phrase 'false positive' is misleading... I suppose I am looking for an explanation for an extremely high (three standard deviations) L-test score from a highly intelligent, sophisticated, self aware respondent. Any suggestions?

  • What constitutes a display of deep remorse?

I've just read a psychological evaluation that stated the patient, "...certainly did not display any signs of deep remorse."

I had been present and my interpretation had been significantly different which leads me to ask, are there clinical expressions or benchmarks necessary to identify remorse?

  • How high is possible (blood sugar)?

Well the question really says it all but...

My father rarely checks his blood sugar and by rarely, I'd say once a month. Perhaps 'never' would have been a better word choice eh? Anyway, he called me up today and quoted a number he got yesterday on one of those rare occasions he did check it and it's so high that I'm thinking it may not be possible and that he did it wrong. The number scared him and he reacted to that by putting the machine in a drawer but apparently it was still bothering him today and so he called me to ask.

I'd rather not give the number because I'm not looking to solicit 'true' or 'false' answers that anyone can guess at - but if you can answer my question I'd be grateful.

    Thank you

  • If Obama chose Clinton as his VP how long...?

...do you think it would be before he died in a tragic accident? My question isn't facetious; I'm serious. I can't imagine her not orchestrating his death...anyone else?

  • Do people normally lie about this?

When answering questions here, it has frequently been germane to explain that my wife has been incarcerated for the last twenty years. It shapes my perspective and hence the answers I give and so I often reference that - to seperate my answer from the host of people who 'just' know.

Today I asked my first question in which I found it necessary to put that information in. I didn't originally but since I wasn't getting anything but simplistic answers, I edited my question and inserted that info in an attempt to make myself clearer.

At least two people made the assumption I'm lying about it - and I get this in my answers occasionally as well. Is this some kind of pop culture status symbol or something - to have a spouse whose incarcerated? Do people really lie about that? Why?!

  • What does for better or worse mean to you?

Recently I have found a couple of questions, the responses to which I have found contradictory. I'm wondering if someone who this makes sense to can explain it to me.

Question 1: Your spouse is paralyzed and can't have sex anymore - is it okay to have sex with other people.

Almost everyone respnded with an emphatic 'no', pointing out the whole 'for better or worse' mantra.

Question 2: Would you stay with your spouse if they were sent to prison.

Almost everyone responded with either a 'no' or an 'it depends what it was for'. Whatever happened to 'for better or worse'?

Anyway, just curious - my wife's been in prison for twenty years and the whole conjugal visit thing is largely a myth - certainly not in the prison she is in. So we've got both issues and I can't imagine even wanting to divorce her.

  • Where can I buy velour paper?

Hi people, I don't have access to online buying power because I don't have a credit card - but I live in the San Francisco Bay Area - how hard can this be? Are there any chains that carry it? Other supply stores? Michaels didn't know what I was talking about - and it wasn't at any of the other local places I went to. Help please!

  • How long does it take for cholesterol to bottom out?

August 1st, I was 263 pounds and had a total cholesterol of 317. My doctor ordered meds but I told her I wanted three months. Today I just called the hospital and got my total cholesterol number from yesterdays test (I can view the breakdown online in four days).

I have lost 39 pounds (224) and my total cholesterol is 197 as of yesterday. My question is, is it likely that my cholesterol has bottomed out or is it possible that 120 point drop in 3 months is free falling and I can expect it to drop further?

The reason I ask - I know cholesterol is both diet and genetics - but I don't know that I have a genetic predisposition to high cholesterol. My father and grandfather both had high cholesterol - but their diets were similar to mine before my change and so who knows what their numbers would have been if they ate right - you know?

  • Effects of partial fast on cholesterol test..?

I have a blood test scheduled to test my cholesterol after a twelve hour fast to be done this week. I hadn't planned on doing it today but I just woke up, it's been twelve hours since I ate but I had a black cup of decaf about seven hours ago... what's the consequences of that on the test? Is it absolutely necessary to wait for another day?

  • Parental rights?

I was going through some old questions and saw the following quote in a response, "...if the man doesn`t want the baby and the mom does then he needs to get to a lawyer and sign his rights away." This is not the first time I have seen such a statement around here.

How is it that people are concluding that a man can do this? First of all, as a man - you don't have any post-conception rights. Second of all, you can't sign away the financial responsibility for the child - only the woman can do that.

  • What exactly is your idea of equality?

I just saw a question from Zikiru to me that is in a resolved answer and, thinking it was an interesting question, I decided to pose it to everyone.

    Here’s my (partial) answer:

My idea of equality would be men receiving custody of their children 50% of the time in divorces.

My idea of equality would be equal sentencing guidelines regardless of the sex of the victim. For instance, for vehicular manslaughter – if a woman is the victim, the average sentence is seven years. If a man is the victim, the average sentence is four years. If a black man is the victim, the average sentence is two years. Cites? Yeah, you got me - it’s available on the DOJ website and I don’t have the link. Also available in the book, Men Freeing Men but I don’t have it on me and can’t give you a page number unfortunately.

My idea of equality would be women having to register for the draft before they receive the privilege of voting or men not having to register.

  • Is this good advice?

There is an unabashed sense of entitlement that runs rampant throughout our society today and nowhere is this tendency more poignantly illustrated than in the women for men personals. Candidly, I refer to them as ‘The Comics’ and they have been a never-ending source of amusement for me. For years I have perused these ads, gleefully sharing snippets and laughter with friends and family. For all the joy, laughter and escape they have provided me with over the years, I’ve decided to give a little back in the way of advice for you women for men personal ad writers.

    1. You are NOT a princess, queen or a goddess. Really. I know you say that you want a relationship between equals but how can I possible be on equal terms with royalty or deities? For what it’s worth, princesses were often forced into relationships against their will, for the good of someone other than themselves.

    2. Claiming intelligence is not intelligent; intelligence is relative. Telling me that your friends

  • For the men?

This question is for the men.

I hear a lot of responders who say things such as, "If it were a guy... therefore the girl should get the same...that is equality!"

What I'm wondering is, do you really think that women should be treated the same as men or are you taking such a position in an effort to balance legislated equality in which you feel women are given rights and privileges without the ensuing responsibilities - and that violates your sense of fair play?

  • asking again - sets and subsets?

Hi. Any help would be appreciated, here's the question:

You choose 30 from a universe of 60.

Someone else chooses 30 from the same universe.

Each element is unique and can only be chosen once by each person. If it makes it easier to understand, each of the elements is a skill that the person has developed from a Universe of sixty possible skills. A good analogy would be merit badges in some sort of scouting organization. 60 merit badges, two scouts. What are the chances that no element is a member of both sets? Is it the same likelihood that all elements are members of both sets?

    Thank you.
