  • A question about qualitative social research?

I have bachelor degrees in psychology and sociology and I want to help my cousin with her post graduate paper on sociology. I came to realize that her university is all for qualitative research and not quantitative, that I am a little better at. I feel a little overwhelmed. I would like to know if someone can help me with this question: Which is a suitable qualitative method to use in order to compare theories on one social phenomenon (violence towards women). We have already presented to the professor her research goal of comparing structural and feminist theories of gendered violence. My cousin will be able to have 12 interviews with abused women. At this phase I only want to point to me the method so I can read more about it.

  • How to let my pet rabbits in my small garden relax without eating my plants/?

I recently rented an apartment with a small garden, something that makes me very happy. My daughter has two pet rabbits. I am planning on planting nice things there. It would be fantastic if we could let the two rabbits spend some time there, out of their cage without harming my plants to be. Is there any product or a home remedy, say a repellent that I could use on specific plants to prevent our rabbits from eating them? Let me say that it s a really small garden so the repellent has to have a small range of action.

  • How can I make my crafts made with stucco harder?

I make wonderful items with stucco or putty (I don't know the exact translation of the material's name in English). A powder mixed with water that we use to fill a crack on wood or on a wall. It is easy o use, cheap and I can mould it to many shapes. I make vases and frames and many other things. Recently I thought of selling them. But the material is not as hard as I would like. They chip off I little too easy. The stucco is air drιed, not baked so this is the reason I think. But baking it doesn't make it any harder. So my question is : Is there a material , let's say a semi liquid glue that could be added , that is cheap and still allows me to mould the stucco without sticking to my hands and makes the material harder. I don't mind taking it time to dry.

  • A question about growing plant from a seed?

I want me and my six years old daughter to plant a seed that will grow to be something big and beautiful that will live for many years. Preferably a tree that will blossom once a year but if it produces also fruits that would be even better. I want suggestions. In order to be a pleasant experience and become a lifetime memory for her the procedure has to be easy, not a very complicated one, with strange materials and utensils. If possible a seed, some soil, water and a vessel. We live in Greece (hardiness zone 9). Don't need the actual description of the procedure but some suggestions according to the criteria mentioned above and I will find the rest. Thanks in advance.

  • a question for german speaking people?

This you tube link is for the movie Faraway, so close by Wim Wenders. At 1:18:46 there is a sing on the wall. Could anyone tell me what does it say? I suspect that it mocks or criticizes the paintings of the exhibition. I want to know if the expressionistic paintings are there to be mocked by the Nazis.

  • A question about English poetry?

Could you inform me about english language poems (both British and American) that stand out. Poems that are more famous than others, more influential. Poems that even not very educated people would at least have heard of. Poems often quoted in newspapers. e.g.

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends

Not with a bang but a whimper.

  • Someone who knows a lot about hindu philosophy please?

A person close to me is into yoga . But when he talks about it I have a feeling that his knowledge of the hindu philosophy is superficial (I don't know anything about it either but I can tell). What would be the best text for him to acquire a deep knowledge of the hindu philosophical tradition part of which is yoga? Please give me direction towards basic hindu texts not specific modern books about hinduism. I mean is it better for him to start with the Upanishads, the Vedas or something else, to have a sound foundation? His approach to hinduism as far as I can tell is more philosophical and everyday life oriented than strictly religious. Thanks in advance.

  • A text correction for people with english as their first language?

Please can you read the text that follows and make remarks about spelling, syntax or expression. I need it to be immaculate. thanks in advance for your patience to read it:

My experience as a coordinator of a public educational program in a region of 18 municipalities in the grater Athens area has been successful. My main responsibilities for two years were to attract new candidates, to establish contact with the local authorities, mayors and school principals and the administration of the institute. That job required a great amount of organisational skills and dedication that I feel I fulfilled in a most adequate way.

All the duties mentioned above were executed by me, in an independent way. Even my payments were according to the number of classes created. The whole philosophy of this work position was to have an independent agent of the institute to create, maintain, finish and evaluate classes.

My psychology department is the top in Greece with an entrance score of 18.5/20 in the admission exams. It is considered more empirical than clinical with great interest in experimentation and quantitative research methods.

The reason that I am applying for a job abroad is that I feel that in Greece the knowledge obtained in the university is not used in practical manner. I feel that my knowledge in research and the hard labor to obtained it, is not used adequately because of lack of opportunities. That belief of mine shows a commitment to the value of high quality research.

I am fluent in English, French and Spanish apart from Greek that is my mother tongue. I have a clinical experience as a practitioner of psychotherapy. Psychotherapy demands good communication skills.

I gained experience in research along the course of my studies in graduate and post graduate level. In our university it was required for both levels the completion of a research in order to graduate.

I am an experienced car driver and I am familiar with all the current navigation technologies.

  • How does that text look for native english speakers?

I am applying for a job in England and I want the text to be immaculate. This is a description of my previous job. Please show me every mistake I made concerning spelling, syntax or expression.

Working as the liaison between local communities and the institute, for the attraction and placement of new candidates for the educational programmes. Organizing new classes after atracting candidates and monitoring their course and results. Gathering and analyzing statistical data about the candidates. Writing final reports about each clases' course over time.

  • Which of the two is right "Council of administration" or "Board of administration ?

The term refers to the governing body of a non profit organization ( the president, the secretary and some more people who manage the affairs of a professional association). The president uses the title "President of the council of administration" and I am not sure if that is correct, since English is not my mother tongue. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it is normal. Even if it is normal, it doesn't seem to change at all. Should I do something or just wait for it to do its thing? Thanks in advance

  • About acer palmatum?

I recently bought an acer palmatum plant which I planted under a tree and near a wall because I was under the impression that it needs shade. Today I bought a new one and the employee at the nursery told me that it needs light otherwise it will turn green from reddish. That confused me a lot. Since I live in Greece where we have so much sun, I am afraid that if I plant it away from shadow it will die. On the other hand the thing that I like about acer palmatum is its reddish color.I live 3 km (1.86 miles) away from the sea and in a low altitude. What should I do? Live the first one be and plant the new one in similar conditions or plant the new one in open sun and move the old one towards a sunnier location?
